Star Wars has plans for its fourth official spin-off movie, although this one may be its most divisive yet. Since the launch of the Star Wars sequel trilogy in 2015, the star-faring brand has started dipping its toes into the world of cinematic spin-offs. So far, this has come to fruition in the form of Rogue One and Solo. There were originally plans for even more spin-off projects; however, those have since slowed down, with Disney being more intentional about how it releases Star Wars content.
A new report revealed Lucasfilm and Disney may be actively developing a fourth Star Wars spin-off film. This joins the likes of Solo, Rogue One, and the long-gestating Lando led by Atlanta star Donald Glover (spinning off of Solo and Lando Calrissian as a character) as spin-offs of other Star Wars movies, either released or planned for the Lucasfilm slate.

One of the most important revelations in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is that the First Order could track the Resistance through hyperspace. It shocked both the characters and the viewers, as this wasn't an ability explored prior to this installment. Not only that, but it gave the First Order a massive leg up on the Resistance, as they were no longer able to flee through hyperspace like ships were in the original trilogy.
However, this isn't the first time hyperspace tracking appears in Star Wars, though it is the first time it's this advanced. It's hinted at in Season 1, Episode 9, "Gathering Forces," of Star Wars Rebels -- roughly three years before it's introduced in The Last Jedi. This highlights that the idea didn't come as far out of nowhere as it seems in The Last Jedi, but rather it's something the Empire created and the First Order expanded upon.

Lando Calrissian stands out as a magnetic presence in the broad cosmos of Star Wars. Whether it's Billy Dee Williams' smooth-talking Lando in the original trilogy or Donald Glover's younger—and equally charismatic—portrayal in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story, both have left an indelible mark. Fans of the galaxy far, far away have been eagerly awaiting updates on the previously announced Lando series since its announcement back in 2020. After a prolonged period of silence on the project, there's finally news: Donald Glover is not only set to reprise his role as Lando but will also wield the pen alongside his brother, Stephen Glover, as the series’ writers.
Sources, including Above the Line, Gizmodo, and the esteemed Variety, have corroborated the news about a shift in the writers' room. It seems Justin Simien, originally tapped to breathe life into Lando's adventures, has made his exit, passing the torch to the Glover brothers.

Donald Glover, who played young Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and his brother Stephen have been hired as writers for the upcoming Lando Disney+ TV show. The show may involve the return of Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra and could potentially be titled "Star Wars: The Calrissian Chronicles." For years now, Lucasfilms' "Lando" series has been one of the biggest "we'll believe it when we see some movement on it" Star Wars projects around. A new update on Star Wars: Lando has arrived, suggesting that Disney is moving forward with the series with new writers penning the script.
Previously, it was reported that Justin Simien was on board to write the Lando series, and it was expected to bring back Donald Glover to reprise his take on Lando Calrissian from Solo: A Star Wars Story. A lack of updates led to speculation that the project was scrapped, and Simien recently made comments suggesting he may no longer be attached. Now, a new report from Above the Line claims that Simien was removed from the project last summer so he could focus on Haunted Mansion, leaving the Lando project without a writer in place.

According to the new report, however, Glover has stepped up alongside brother Stephen Glover to write Star Wars: Lando.
