"Hey, I am an excellent chef!" Gravitas has unveiled official trailer for a movie titled An Exquisite Meal, self-described as "a dark comedy arthouse thriller western satire." Okay that's definitely something. This one originally premiered at the 2020 Cinequest Film Festival last year, and it will be on VOD at the end of this month just before the New Year. It seems to be yet another incisive skewering of modern America by way of an "absurdly terrifying dinner..." A dinner party host promises his friends an exquisite meal in this darkly comedic thriller, but the party erupts in sex and violence when the guests learn that everyone is lying about who they are – even the host, who hasn’t prepared any food at all. The cast includes Mike Jimerson, Amrita Dhaliwal, Victoria Nugent, Ross Magyar, Bassam Abdelfattah, Emily Marso, and Mark Pracht. Never heard of the film before today, looks wild,...

I think I may have been only one of a handful of people in the film-blogging community who expressed deep love for John Carpenter’s psych ward set horror flick The Ward. Well now the brotherly writing duo behind that film – Michael and Shawn Rasmussen – are back with another slice of hospital horror with Dark Feed.
This time round the brothers Rasmussen take on the writing, editing, scripting And directing duties, for this tale that sees a film crew move into an abandoned psychiatric hospital to shoot a low budget horror film. As the late nights and lack of sleep begin to take a toll, and the longer this crew works, the more the leaky, wet building seems to be coming back to life,...

Imagine battling bats and being doused in dust and blood on your very first feature film set. So it goes for actress Victoria Nugent on the set of Michael and Shawn Rasmussen’s “Dark Feed.” The film features Andy Rudick as Chris, a screenwriter visiting an abandoned mental hospital, the set of his latest movie. The large majority of the cast and crew have been at it for quite some time, so Chris bonds with another newcomer, Beth (Nugent), who’s joined in to work as a Pa for the day. The grips are messing around, the director is demanding to get what he wants and the makeup artist is methodically decorating [ Read More ]

Directors/writers: Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen. Cast: Evalena Marie, Dayna Cousins, Victoria Nugent, Michael Reed, and Rebecca Whitehurst. The Rasmussen brothers are probably best known for the work with John Carpenter on The Ward. This earlier title was a horror film with a strong psychological element. Carpenter does not direct the Rasmussen's Dark Feed. Instead, these two have taken on the filmmaking responsibilities, themselves. Unfortunately, they should have rehired Carpenter as Dark Feed stumbles through a weak premise, poor pacing, average acting and dimly lit settings. The end result is a 28Dla Worst Indie Film of 2013 nomination. The Rasmussen brothers first feature as directors sticks with the psychiatric hospital from their earlier work. Here, several characters are trying to put together an indie film. It is a film within a film, get it? The production does not go smoothly as murderous spirits move about the setting. A black ooze begins to pour out of.
