Audio Theater Review: Red Orchid Theatre Speaks ‘In Quietness’
Image
Chicago – Marriage is a complex dynamic, and the subtle but effective “In Quietness,” currently at Chicago’s Red Orchid Theatre through March 3rd, jumps the nuptial institution through some unusual hoops in exploration of religion, fidelity and promises made/broken. For information and tickets, click In Quietness.

Play Rating: 4.0/5.0

A former high-flying businesswoman named Maxine (Brittany Birch) follows her born-again husband Paul (Joe Edward Metcalfe) to a Southern Baptist seminary, after their marriage suffers infidelity. There she enrolls as a student at the Homemaking House, the nation’s premier training ground for wifely duties, facilitated by frenetic Terri (Kirsten Fitzgerald) and shared with her roommate Beth (Alexandra Chopson). When Beth’s fiancee Dusty (Adam Shalzi) arrives, his presence is surprisingly counter intuitive. Meanwhile, Max and Paul remain married.
