The series refuses to abide by a formula -- constantly upending the viewer's expectations. Animated comedy shows for adults have evolved since the initial success of "Family Guy" and "South Park." While "BoJack Horseman" has its fair share of crass humor, it's a remarkably earnest examination of celebrity culture, depression, substance abuse, and non-traditional relationships in the 21st century. Who would have thought a show about a talking horse would become one of our generation's most insightful series?

Fox will put a group of celebrities through intense military-style training in a new competition show.

The network has set a January premiere date for Special Forces: The Ultimate Test, which will follow 16 celebs as they take on a series of challenges pulled from the actual special forces selection process under the eye of four former military operatives.

Fox announced the series Wednesday during its time at the Television Critics Association press tour. The network has also added six actors — including Emmy winner Margo Martindale and Emmy nominee Molly Parker — to its courtroom anthology Accused and set a premiere date for its previously announced Lego Masters celebrity holiday edition.

The series, from creator Rebecca Sonnenshine, starred Mamoudou Athie as video archivist Dan Turner, who was restoring tapes in the present, originally shot by Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi) in 1994 at the mysterious Visser apartment building.

In different timelines, both Dan and Melody uncover disturbing secrets about a destructive, demon-worshipping cult.

The series, which costarred Martin Donovan, Evan Jonigkeit, Julia Chan, Ariana Neal and Matt McGorry, was loosely inspired by the podcast of the same name.

Sonnenshine created the series and served as showrunner and executive producer. James Wan and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster also executive produced with Rebecca Thomas, Antoine Douaihy and Paul Harris Boardman.

It's been a few days since The CW made the unfortunate decision to cancel Katy Keene after a single season. 

Lucy Hale, who played the titular character on the Riverdale spinoff, has opened up about it. 

The actress shared a video via social media, noting that the decision to cancel the series "sucks."

Hale said that she had been "a blubbering mess" since the cancellation news broke. 

"I've kind of struggled all day with what I wanted to say about this, or if I shouldn't say anything. Nothing felt right," she said in a video on Instagram.

"I didn't want to just post a picture or a caption because nothing would do justice to how I feel about Katy Keene, or how I feel about the people involved with it."

Katy Keene's New York fairytale is coming to an abrupt conclusion.

The CW has canceled the Riverdale spinoff after just one season.

The drama's freshman finale aired May 14, and while it seemed the series would be a hit because of its connection to Riverdale, it was not meant to be.

Katy Keene Season 1 averaged 480,000 total viewers and a 0.1 rating among adults.

Out of 16 dramas the network aired this season, it ranked 14th.

It bested In the Dark and Dynasty -- both of which have been picked up for the 2020-21 TV season.

Alarm bells started ringing when The CW opted to hold off on a renewal decision, with network president Mark Pedowitz wanting to wait to assess the digital figures for the series.

The CW has always looked at the bigger picture when it comes to other avenues people use to watch their shows.

The CW is not moving forward with a second season of the “Riverdale” spinoff “Katy Keene,” TheWrap has confirmed.

“Katy Keene” was the last remaining show on The CW’s slate not to be `picked up for another season after the network did a bulk renewal back in January of all its other scripted series that weren’t headed for a pre-planned ending. Two other freshman dramas, “Batwoman” and “Nancy Drew,” were among the early renewals.

At the time, the network ordered additional scripts for “Katy Keene,” suggesting some confidence in the series, which had not yet made its premiere on the network. However, “Katy Keene” was not able to match the success of “Riverdale” during its run, hovering around a 0.2 rating in the demo with a week of delayed viewing factored in, according to Nielsen.

The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz in May revealed that the options on the cast, which originally expired June 30, had been extended as the network was mulling their renewal decision. I hear the extension is until July 31, giving Wbtv a window to pursue a new home. The CW is set to make a decision on the future on Katy Keene “in a few weeks” and the network hopes that more streaming numbers will make up for “soft” linear ratings.

The network will take into account streaming figures for the show, which will have all episodes stacked on The CW’s digital platform and will launch on HBO Max at the end of the month, before making a renewal decision.
