Cormans’ Hollywood, a 13-episode documentary series teeming with archival footage and insights from seven decades of filmmaking by Roger Corman and his wife, Julie, has been set by Shout! Studios, Ace Film Hk Co. and Friendship Films.

Thirteen 50-minute episodes were shot over four months in La, drawing heavily on the library of the Cormans’ New Horizons Pictures, which Shout! and Ace acquired earlier this year. The series traces the Cormans’ trail-blazing path as independent producers, including their mentorship of young film talent who would go on to become Hollywood royalty.

There is a long list of A-listers who cut their teeth working with Roger Corman, producer of 350 films and director of 60 titles, including the likes of A Bucket of Blood, The Wild Angels and The Little Shop of Horrors. Among them are Jack Nicholson, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Ron Howard, Peter Fonda and Jonathan Demme.

Horror fans have had the pleasure of watching Shout! Factory branch out into the realms of theatrical distribution and original content development in recent years, and they're continuing to push forward in an exciting direction with their acquisition (along with Ace Film Hk) of 270 movies from Roger and Julie Corman's New Horizons Picture library.

In the colossal deal approved by Roger and Julie Corman, Shout! Factory acquired all North American, European, Australian, and Russian rights to 270 movies (and one action sci-fi TV series) from the New Horizons library, while Ace Film Hk picked up the rights for those same titles in China, Asia, Africa, and South America. These rights include the ability to remake, expand upon, and syndicate the 270 titles, which include Slumber Party Massacre, Piranha (1978), Galaxy of Terror, Humanoids from the Deep, Forbidden World, Battle Beyond the Stars, and many more horror, action, and sci-fi films.

Shout! Factory and China-based Ace Film Hk Company have acquired the New Horizons Picture Corp library encompassing 270 Roger Corman films and a sci-fi TV series from Roger and Julie Corman.

The deal, which was secured for an undisclosed sum, grants Shout! Factory rights in North America, Europe, Australia, and Russia. Ace Film Hk gets rights for China, Asia, Africa, and South America.

Titles within the library include Rock’N’Roll High School, Battle Beyond The Stars, Piranha, Galaxy Of Terror, Black Scorpion, and Slumber Party Massacre.

Indie film godfather Roger Corman has sold his New Horizons Pictures library to Shout! Factory and China-based Ace Film Hk Company. 

Terms of the deal were not available, but around 270 films and an action sci-fi TV series, including Rock 'n' Roll High School, Battle Beyond the Stars, Piranha and Galaxy of Terror, were purchased from Corman and Julie Corman, the veteran film director and producer's wife and longtime business partner.

Ace Studios and Odyssey Media’s action thriller Pound Of Flesh, starring Jean Claude Van Damme, wrapped in Ace Studios’ facilities in Guangdong, China this week.

Directed by Ernie Barbarash, the film is produced by Odyssey’s Kirk Shaw and Ace Studios’ Henry Luk. It will be distributed by Odyssey, Automatic Entertainment and China’s Chunqiu Time Culture Co.

Van Damme stars alongside Canadian actor John Ralston, UK actress Charlotte Peters, UK martial arts actor Darren Shahlavi (Ip Man 2: Legend Of The Grandmaster), Marsha Yuan, Jason Tobin, Andrew Ng and Aki Aleong.

Action choreography was overseen by John Salvitti, who has worked on several films with Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen, including Kung Fu Jungle, Special ID, Iceman and Iceman 2.

Principal photography has just wrapped on Jean Claude Van Damme's latest martial arts thriller, Pound of Flesh, which was filming at Ace Studios in Nanhai, China under the direction of regular collaborator Ernie Barbarash (6 Bullets, Assassination Games). Jcvd stars alongside British actor Darren Shahlavi, familiar to many from his work in Ip Man 2 and Mortal Kombat Legacy, as well as Hong Kong's Jason Tobin (Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift), Andrew Ng (The Man With The Iron Fists) and veteran performer Aki Aleong. The film also stars John Ralston, Charlotte Peters and Marsha Yuen. Produced by Kirk Shaw and Henry Luk, with Mike Leeder as co-producer, Pound of Flesh features fight choreography from John Salvitti, whose work with Donnie Yen has been highly praised in films...
