Alter Bridge have announced their new self-titled album, out January 9th, 2026 via Napalm Records, as well as a 2026 European tour.

Their eighth studio album is comprised of 12 tracks and features trade-off vocal performances from frontman Myles Kennedy and guitarist/singer Mark Tremonti on songs such as “Trust in Me” and “Tested and Able,” plus the band’s longest composition to date — closing number “Slave to Master.” The LP was recorded over a two-month span this spring in the late Eddie Van Halen’s 5150 studio in California and at the Florida studio once owned by Elvis Presley.

The band will be supporting the album’s release with a 31-date European/UK tour in early 2026 featuring support from Daughtry and Sevendust. Wolfgang Van Halen was announced as part of the original lineup for the upcoming “Back to the Beginning” concert featuring the final performances of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. Unfortunately, he has since had to back out due to his band Mammoth’s commitment as a support act on Creed’s summer tour.

In an interview with the radio station Wrif Detroit, Wolfgang explained, “I, unfortunately, had to back out because the Creed tour starts the day after, and I wouldn’t be able to pull it off — unfortunately. I’m very excited to watch it, but I unfortunately had to back out.”

The “Back to the Beginning” concert takes places July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, while Creed’s North American summer tour kicks off July 9th in Lexington, Kentucky. So, while it’s not exactly the next day, it is just a few days after.

Wolfgang Van Halen stopped by the Drumeo studio for a new video feature about his uncle, Alex, the drummer of Van Halen. In the 20-minute clip, Wolfgang opens up about his uncle’s legacy as a somewhat underrated facet of Van Halen, while also playing through a few Van Halen songs on the kit himself.

Wolfgang Van Halen has revealed that he used his late father Eddie Van Halen‘s iconic Frankenstein guitar, aka the Frankenstrat, to record parts on his new Mammoth song “The End.”

The intro to Wolfgang’s one-off single sounds eerily reminiscent to Eddie’s guitar tapping — one of his signature techniques — as heard on Van Halen hits like “Hot for Teacher.” Not only does Wolfgang emulate that tapping perfectly, but he even used Eddie’s legendary red-and-white striped axe to evoke his father’s tone and sound.

Producer Mark Ronson has revealed he is recovering in the hospital after injuring himself onstage during a recent DJ set. In a social media statement, he said he “popped two bicep tendons” after attempting to move a stage monitor with one arm.

Congratulations are in order for Billy Corgan and his wife Chloé Mendel Corgan on the birth of their third child, a baby daughter named Juno. The little Pumpkin arrived into this world on Tuesday (March 18th) at the family’s home in Highland Park, Illinois.

The cherubic Juno weighed in at a healthy 9.9 pounds and measured 22 inches, with Corgan telling People, “My wife Chloé is doing well and recovering, and baby Juno is happy, healthy, and nursing with gusto. Billy Corgan is celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Smashing Pumpkins’ classic 1995 album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, by teaming up with Lyric Opera of Chicago for a run of November 2025 concerts set to take place in the singer-guitarist’s hometown.

“A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness” will be staged across seven nights at Lyric Opera of Chicago. The performances will re-imagine the album “for an immersive original sonic and visual experience that blurs the boundaries of opera, rock, and performance art.”

Tickets, which start at $49, go on sale to the general public on April 11th at 10 a.m. at the Lyric Opera of Chicago website, but are currently available to subscribers of the opera house’s 2025/2026 season package.

The rest of the lineup will include Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon, making for one of the biggest metal gatherings of all time. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 14th, at 10am local time.

The concert — dubbed “Back to the Beginning” — will mark Black Sabbath’s first show since they wrapped up their farewell tour in February 2017, although that outing did not include Bill Ward. In fact, the last time the original lineup performed was 20 years ago at Ozzfest 2005.

How do you induct the Prince of Darkness into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? With an all-star celebration. On Saturday night, Billy Idol, Jelly Roll, and Tool frontman Maynard Keenan gathered to sing songs from throughout Ozzy Osbourne’s solo career.

After Osbourne himself kicked things off by bellowing the words, “All aboard,” the tribute started with “Crazy Train,” with Wolfgang Van Halen playing a ripping solo as Keenan took on the vocals. Jelly Roll stepped up next, singing Osbourne’s iconic power ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home.

Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night (October 19th) in Cleveland with a rousing and highly entertaining speech by Jack Black. The Prince of Darkness was also honored with a three-song performance fronted by Maynard James Keenan, Jelly Roll, and Billy Idol.

Jack Black gave an all-time Rock Hall speech, with his face turning beet red as he hilariously screamed his way through a highly animated rundown of Ozzy’s various achievements.

Ozzy himself followed, sitting in a giant leather bat-design chair. The metal icon singled out his late guitarist Randy Rhoads and his wife Sharon during his brief speech.

The all-star performance was next, as Tool’s Maynard James Keenan sang “Crazy Train” alongside Wolfgang Van Halen on lead guitar, with a backing band of Chad Smith on drums, Robert Trujillo on bass, Andrew Watt on rhythm guitar, and Adam Wakeman on keyboards.

Ozzy Osbourne’s complete solo discography will be collected on an 18-lp box set titled See You on the Other Side V2.0, set to arrive on March 14th, 2025. The release updates a 2019 box set with Ozzy’s two most recent albums, 2020’s Ordinary Man and 2022’s Patient Number 9, as well as additional goodies.

See You on the Other Side V2.0 comes at a steep price of $599.99, but it is limited to 2,000 copies, with each signed by the Prince of Darkness himself. It is available for pre-order from Ozzy’s official merch store.

In addition to all of his studio LPs, live albums, and rarities on vinyl, the box set includes 10 brand-new full-size posters of vintage photos, a gold bat vinyl slipmat, and an individually numbered vellum certificate of authenticity personally signed by Ozzy.

Zakk Wylde is stepping away from the remaining dates of the ongoing “Experience Hendrix” tour as he prepares for Ozzy Osbourne‘s second Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Wylde is a man of many projects, from Black Label Society to Pantera, but the journeyman guitarist can only be in one place at a time. His involvement in Ozzy’s induction — which honors Osbourne’s solo career, including years of work alongside Wylde — has taken precedence over the remaining five shows of the Experience Hendrix tour (October 15th through the 19th).

“Loss of Control” has made its way into Mr. Bungle’s setlist several times over the past few years. Shortly after the passing of Eddie Van Halen, Patton told Heavy Consequence that he was a big fan of Van Halen, and that Women and Children First had a profound impact on his musical sensibilities.

After playing a medley of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” “Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop,” and Nine Inch Nails’ “March of the Pigs,” frontman Dave Grohl complained to the crowd, “You know who never gets a fuckin’ solo? Me, goddammit, I never get a fuckin’ solo! So, since this is the last fuckin’ night of [our run of spring US dates], I’m gonna do a fuckin’ solo. All Ryan Gosling needed was a 40-piece orchestra, 62 dancing Kens, over 24 gigantic Barbie heads, four “cameo Kens” and a Guns N’Roses surprise to turn his highly anticipated performance of “Barbie” track “I’m Just Ken” into one of the most unbelievable moments in award show history.

After all the protracted speculation about whether Gosling would perform “I’m Just Ken” at the Oscars, the news broke in late February that he had been confirmed for a song and dance extravaganza. But in fact, Oscars producers had been talking to Gosling for months.

“Ryan Gosling is a true professional, that man — we met with him on Zooms months ago, talking about that performance,” said Molly McNearney, who produced the show with Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan and Rob Paine. “Greta Gerwig weighed in creatively as well. He was so committed to it. His choreographer, Mandy Moore, is exceptional — she was on all the calls.

Though she had a ticket to sit in the audience at the Oscars, choreographer Mandy Moore, who helmed Sunday’s show-stealing “I’m Just Ken” number, couldn’t help but stand in the wings and give all the Kens a pep talk before they headed onstage.

“It was so hype,” Moore said of the energy backstage.

The performance saw Barbie movie star and Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling, in a bright pink bedazzled suit and cowboy hat, lead an army of 62 Kens, as well as his fellow Barbie movie Kens — Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Scott Evans — in an all-out dance number that paid homage to Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, included “street-style dancing,” filled the stage with Barbie cardboard cut-outs and ended in a Rockettes-style kickline.
