As it looks to bring online video stars into the film industry, Supergravity Pictures is moving into the world of comedy. Its newest project is a stand-up special that will feature the comedic stylings of former SourceFed host Elliott Morgan.

The special, which is currently untitled, will begin production shortly. Supergravity, which has also worked with YouTube stars like Kian Lawley and Kevin Wu on film projects, will handle financing, production, and distribution. As a press release puts it, Morgan “will tell the jokes.”

Supergravity was co-founded in 2014 by Max Benator and Marc Hustvedt. Hustvedt (who, full disclosure, is a co-founder of Tubefilter) has experience with comedy specials, having produced Maria Bamford’s Special special special! back in 2012. “Elliott has always been one of the funniest and smartest people on the Internet,” said Hustvedt in the release. “We're excited to partner with Elliott to make his first comedy special unique,...

The latest film led by online video stars is Man Up, and as of May 28th, it is available through Video On Demand. The film, which stars Kevin Wu as a slacker who must learn how to become a dad and Justin Chon as his crazy best friend, can be purchased for $9.99 or rented for half that price.

In Man Up, announced in March 2015, Martin (played by Wu, who is known as KevJumba on YouTube) must quickly mature after his girlfriend (Galadriel Stineman) reveals she is pregnant. Off the Dock, a digital studio run by production company Lakeshore Entertainment, produced the film, and Supergravity Pictures, a recently-launched studio that works with YouTube stars, handled distribution. Chon, whose film roles include Twilight, directed.

Lakeshore Entertainment, which earlier this week unveiled plans to boost its film production pipeline, is targeting the YouTube generation with a full-service digital studio.

Off The Dock will finance, produce, acquire and distribute digital influencer-led content in a bid to free up the fiercely guarded disposable income of Millennials and their younger Generation Z counterparts.

“We are excited to blend Lakeshore’s knowledge and skills gained from its 20-year track record of traditional film-making and distribution with the new world of digital influencers,” said CFO Marc Reid. “We think each world can elevate the other.”

The problem with the new Revenge of the Green Dragons is that co-director Andrew Lau and executive producer Martin Scorsese are already joined at the hip over a previous story, which Lau made as Infernal Affairs before Scorsese re-made it as The Departed. Although Revenge of the Green Dragons is an entirely different type of story than those two films, it will inevitably be compared to them, as well as every other classic that the two men have made, and it suffers badly from the comparison.

Of all the films in Lau’s and Scorsese’s catalogs, this most closely resembles Goodfellas, right down to the omnipresent voiceover narration by the lead character. Sonny (Justin Chon of the Twilight series) immigrates to America as a small child, and...

While Revenge Of The Green Dragons is supposed to be a historically relevant glimpse into the Queens gang scene circa 1980, it feels very much like a cartoonish riff off of Walter Hill’s The Warriors. The Scorsese-produced film comes with a certain pedigree since Wai-keung Lau (Infernal Affairs) represents half of the directorial duo, joined by Andrew Loo, yet the clunky narrative scripted by Loo and Michael Di Jiacomo fails to properly grasp the thematic gravity of illegal immigration. The Green Dragons are the baddest mamma jammas this side of Queens, yet their foolishly ambitious nature only paves a cinematic road towards random gang shootouts, weightless acting and a faulty focus on pulpy action over more emotionally jarring factors about immigrants chasing the American dream.

The story follows Sonny (Justin Chon) and Steven (Kevin Wu), two brothers who are inducted into a Chinese street gang at a very early age.

Dragon Seed: Lau & Loo’s Dissatisfying NYC Chinese Gang Saga

Martin Scorsese appears as executive producer on Andrew Lau and Andrew Loo’s Revenge of the Green Dragons, which is no surprise considering he famously remade Lau’s 2002 film Infernal Affairs as The Departed (2006). Featuring a gritty period portrait of gangland warfare in New Your City, it’s clearly the sort of material that Scorsese seems to be attracted to, and thematically, one could even say there are influences of titles like Mean Streets (1973) or Goodfellas (1990) in the mix, with slight homages here and there. But the similiarites are only skin deep. This saga, which is actually based on fact, feels too zany and forthright, any realistic human elements crushed beneath its predilection for exaggerated, dramatic performances and hyperviolence.

This is an actual quote from Revenge of the Green Dragons, an awful movie if I've ever seen one and a baffling one at that as Martin Scorsese has attached his name to the picture as an executive producer, presumably as a nod to co-writer and co-director Andy Lau going back to when Scorsese adapted Infernal Affairs into the Oscar winner The Departed. Fair enough, but Lau makes more than enough films and Scorsese didn't need to come within a mile of this one and tarnish his reputation. I love the fact that the director of the American-Chinese crime drama “Revenge of the Green Dragons” doesn’t even get his name mentioned on the movie’s poster, but Martin Scorsese, who apparently “executive produced” the movie (whatever that means) gets the primo marquee spot. I guess that makes sense from an advertising point of view. Heck, they might even manage to fool a couple of dummies into thinking Scorsese actually directed this movie and not Andrew Lau, the guy who originally directed the “Infernal Affairs” series before it was remade by Scorsese into “The Departed.” Anyways, check out a trailer and poster for Lau’s “Revenge of the Green Dragons,” which is just a terrible title for a crime drama. It sounds like a movie about flying wuxia masters and not a gangland flick. A true immigrant story set against the vibrant backdrop of Flushing, N.Y. in the 1980s and 1990s.

The 2014 Toronto Film Festival, which begins Sept. 4, added seven Galas and 17 Special Presentations to its lineup, including a semi-serious Adam Sandler project from Tom McCarthy, the director of The Station Agent and The Visitor. In The Cobbler, Sandler plays a man who has the unique ability to walk in his customers’ shoes. The movie features Dustin Hoffman, who also stars in Boychoir, François Girard’s tale of an orphan’s steep learning curve at a prestigious music school. In Welcome to Me, Kristen Wiig plays a mentally unstable woman who wins the lottery and decides to sink her winnings into a talk show.

Expect to see a bevy of stars on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival this September. Today, more Gala and Special Presentation titles were announced, with some star-studded projects in the mix. Now, Escobar: Paradise Lost, starring Benicio del Toro as the infamous drug lord, will have its world premiere at Tiff, as will The Forger, with John Travolta, Christopher Plummer and Tye Sheridan.

Here's a hysterically fun comedy short that features a couple of executives pitching the next big CG animated film called Boats. Everyone gets overly excited about the possibilities of how much money they will make from the movie, that they skip the most important part of the filmmaking aspect, and that's coming up with a story. It's a satire on how Hollywood typically works. There is one voice of reason in the room, but no one seems to understand why he doesn't get what they are trying to accomplish.

YouTuber KevJumba (real name Kevin Wu) is nearing three million subscribers on his main channel, but his greatest achievement stands several thousand miles away. After raising money for a charity called The Supply, Wu has made a positive impact on the Kenyan community, and his YouTube now lends its name to its very own high school. As he writes in the Huffington Post, Wu first became involved with The Supply when the nonprofit posted a video where children urged their favorite YouTuber to visit Kenya and become involved in humanitarian efforts. Not one to back down from a difficult task, Wu accepted, and thus began a series of videos shot in Kenya where Wu worked with children from The Supply. At the moment, the movie will only be appearing in 5 cities, with moviegoers in the Houston screening getting a Q&A with actor Andrew Bowen, while Felicia Day will be doing similar duties for the Austin screening. Fast 5 director Justin Lin has teamed up with KevJumba (Kevin Wu) and NigaHiga (Ryan Higa) to launch the Yomyomf Network, one of YouTube's slate of funded original channels announced last October. Today Yomyomf launched a promo video "Bananapocalypse" which stars KevJumba, Higa, and Chester See in what could be best described as a massive pillow fight without the pillows. The crazy video features appearances from Jessica Alba, Tyrese, Sung Kang (Fast Five), Masi Oka, Wayne Brady, Harry Shum Jr. (Glee), and a bunch of puppets. "This is where the magic is made and all of Google's money is spent—on cool stuff like Jessica Alba washing a car with her sexy friends," KevJumba says in the video. Currently filming in downtown Los Angeles is Rock Jocks.  Starring Felicia Day, Jason Mewes, Justin Chon, Doug Jones, Robert Picardo and YouTube superstar KevJumba (Kevin Wu), the film is a sci-fi comedy about a top-secret band of dysfunctional government employees responsible for shooting down Earth-destroying asteroids.  From what I've been told, shooting wraps next Wednesday and they're hoping to promote at this year's Comic-Con. Those who will travel thousands of miles around the world in "The Amazing Race" season 17 have been unveiled. Eleven teams are comprised of among others; beauty queens, YouTube sensations, a capella singers and doctors.

But the one with the most interesting background story would be stay-at-home mom Andie DeKroon who is only reunited with her 21-year-old daughter Jenna Sykes. Andie gave up Jenna for adoption when she was still a baby. "I hope to get to know my birth mother through this incredible opportunity," Jenna said in her official CBS bio. "It is my hope that we will be able to spend a lot of time together and become friends."

Another notable pair is Michael and Kevin Wu who are father and son. Kevin at 20-years-old is officially the youngest contestant in "Amazing Race" history. But he is better known as the YouTube sensation who has over 1 million subscribers on his channel.

CBS announced today the 11 new teams competing in the next installment of The Amazing Race, which premieres with a special 90-minute debut on Sunday, Sept. 26 (8:30-10:00 Pm, Et/Pt). Phil Keoghan is the host.

This season's cast of Racers will travel over 32,000 miles, covering four continents and 30 cities, with first-time visits to Bangladesh, Ghana and the Arctic Circle. Additionally, for the first time in the history of the Race, the Team to finish in first place during the premiere episode will be awarded a surprise, game-changing advantage.

The 17th edition of "The Amazing Race" will feature a reunited birth mother and daughter, a beauty queen and her dad, a YouTube star and -- no kidding -- two college buddies who are also a cappella singers.

The 11 teams will begin racing in a 90-minute premiere on Sunday, Sept. 26. The race will hit 30 cities in its 32,000-mile journey, including first-time stops in Ghana, Bangladesh and above the Arctic Circle.

CBS also says that the team who finishes first in the premiere will get a "surprise, game-changing advantage" that's never been part of the show before.

The "Internet entertainer" in the cast is 20-year-old Kevin Wu, aka KevJumba, whose YouTube channel has more than a million subscribers. He's racing with his dad, Michael. Here are the all the teams:
