Paramount Pictures is beginning development on a sequel to eOne’s Clifford the Big Red Dog.

The live-action family movie based on the 1963 Norman Bridwell children’s classic book, opened on Nov. 10 in theaters and dropped on Paramount+ in homes day and date. The movie has grossed $34.6M stateside to date. Clifford in his first weekend on the studio’s Ott service was the most watched original film to date. No release date has been set yet for the sequel, and it’s yet to be determined whether the film gets a hybrid or exclusive theatrical window.

The news about a Clifford sequel comes in the wake of Paramount greenlighting a sequel to Paw Patrol: The Movie, that movie grossing $130.1M worldwide and buzzed to be a profitable title for the Melrose lot, even with a day and date release stategy on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Exclusive: In the wake of being quite content with the theatrical and Paramount+ day-and-date release of Paw Patrol, the studio is putting the eOne/New Republic Pictures feature Clifford: The Big Red Dog back on the calendar for Wednesday, Nov. 10 in both theaters and on the ViacomCBS streaming service.

The decision is also due to the ongoing pandemic, the safety for kids 6-11–Clifford‘s main demo and changing consumer behavior. If you remember, Sony moved Ghostbusters: Afterlife out of the Veterans Day stretch there and put it on Nov. 19. Opening Nov. 12 wide, the same weekend as Clifford and aimed at a completely different, older demo is Focus Features’ TIFF-award winning Kenneth Bragnagh childhood biopic Belfast.

A sequel to Yes Day is now officially in development with Jennifer Garner set to return. The movie was announced as part of a new deal between the actress and Netflix that will see her produce and star in a number of new movies for the streamer, and among them is Yes Day 2. The movie premiered on Netflix in March and has since been seen in over 62 million households as the streamer's biggest kids and family movie to date.

Yes Day is written by Justin Malen and directed by Miguel Arteta. Jennifer Garner’s family comedy Yes Day is on track to be seen by 53 million households in the first four weeks of its release, Garner said on her Instagram feed Friday. The Miguel Arteta-directed movie was released March 12 on the streaming giant and has already been No. 1 in 50 countries where it has debuted, according to Netflix.

If the projection holds, the pic co-starring Edgar Ramirez would be on track to be the streaming giant’s second-biggest Kids & Family release behind this past season’s The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2, which was seen by 61 million subs in its first month. By comparison, its kids title We Can Be Heroes was projected to be seen by 44 million in its first four weeks.

In Netflix’s metric, a view is counted as any sampling of at least two minutes of programming.

Last year, Netflix released its top 10 films list where the action thriller Extraction was No.

Exclusive: Edgar Ramírez, the double Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor who played Gianni Versace in FX’s lauded limited series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story has boarded Jennifer Garner’s Netflix movie Yes Day.

Ramírez will play Carlos, the husband to Garner’s character, Allison Torres. He joins Jenna Ortega who we announced is playing Katie Torres, their daughter.

Adapted by Justin Malen (Office Christmas Party), Yes Day is based on the children’s book by Tom Lichtenheld and Amy Krouse Rosenthal. The concept revolves around parents attempting to make it through an entire day by only saying “yes” to their children’s requests, a tradition Garner practices with her own children. With Miguel Arteta (Like a Boss) attached as director, the film is produced by Garner, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Nicole King, Adam Marshall, Mark Moran and Daniel Rappaport. Entertainment 360 and Grey Matter Productions are also producing.

Exclusive: Jenna Ortega has been cast in a lead role in Jennifer Garner’s upcoming Netflix movie Yes Day, in which she stars and also produces.

Ortega will play Katie Torres, the daughter of Allison Torres (Garner). Katie is a willful 14-year-old who craves more independence from her parents. With their Ok of “Yes Day,” however, Katie gets just enough freedom to choke on it. Cameras roll next month in Los Angeles.

Chris Cowles, formerly an executive at Dmg Entertainment whose producing credits include 2017’s Blockers and Chappaquiddick, has joined Alldayeveryday, the production company now expanding its auspices into scripted entertainment.

Cowles will be based in Los Angeles and become an Alldayeveryday partner alongside John Kaplan, Arrow Kruse, Michael Karbelnikoff, working with them and executive producer Peter Kline across the company’s entertainment slate. He brings with him a management roster of writer-directors clients including Patrick Aison, F. Scott Frazier, Chris Borrelli, Taylor Allen & Andrew Logan (Chappaquiddick), Justin Malen, and Ryan O’Nan.

Before Dmg, he worked in production for Judd Apatow and Scott Rudin among others.

“Over the years, Allday has been defined by passionate directors and creative collaborators who lead with a strong artistic point-of-view,” said Kaplan, Allday’s president.

Netflix has bought worldwide rights to Jennifer Garner’s “Yes Day,” based on the 2009 children’s book of the same name.

Garner came on board the project earlier this year and will produce and star. Miguel Arteta, who worked with Garner on “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” will direct from a script by Justin Malen.

“Yes Day” is a New York Times best-seller from author Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrator Tom Lichtenheld. On “Yes Day,” kids receive only positive answers from their parents to requests such as pizza for breakfast, late bedtimes, and food fights.

Earlier this year, Garner and her three children — 6-year-old Samuel, 9-year-old Seraphina, and 12-year-old Violet — celebrated their sixth annual “Yes Day.” Entertainment 360 and Grey Matter Productions are producing the project.

Sherlock Holmes 3 isn't dead yet. Robert Downey Jr., shortly after bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life with Iron Man, took up the mantle of Sherlock Holmes in the 2009 Guy Ritchie live-action version of the legendary detective. A sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was released swiftly in 2011 and, there's been talk of finishing up the trilogy ever since, but nothing has come of it. However, Downey confirms that it's still on his to-do list, but will it really ever get done?

The Avengers: Infinity War star was recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming Marvel event. Perhaps you haven't heard of Father Figures? That's because when the first trailer dropped more than a year ago, it was called Bastards. The team behind this comedy wised up, changing the title and giving you some time to forget. Now, they have cobbled together a new trailer, for better or worse, and here we are.

Chicago – “Office Christmas Party” summons up a few jolly ho-ho-ho’s, but can’t quite deliver even one decent belly laugh you’d expect, considering the talented cast chock full of funny folks. It’s halfway decent premise is drowned in a sea of unfulfilled potential and weak material that the ensemble can only do so much to save.

Jason Bateman is stuck playing another variation on his nice guy persona. He’s a recently divorced middle manager at a corporate data server company in Chicago, working for the party boy son (T.J. Miller) of the company’s deceased founder. Bateman is too good for the material he’s given but he is consistently able to wring some humor and even warmth out of moments in the middle of the predictable run of the mill mayhem. The other highlight is “SNL’s” Kate McKinnon, generating the highest joke-to-laugh batting average of the bunch.

Earlier today, Baywatch stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron premiered the first footage from this adaptation on social media. The sexy beachside adventure moved up one week from May 19, 2017 to May 26, 2017, which falls on Memorial Day weekend. These brief videos provide just a tiny taste of all the ocean action before the full trailer debuts tomorrow, Thursday, December 8. We'll be sure to bring you the full trailer as soon as it arrives. But in the meantime, these two teasers help set the tone for this big screen adventure.

Aniston’s character wants to shut the branch down, but Miller thinks an epic holiday party will convince a potential client (Courtney B. Vance) to sign on and save the company, and enlists the aide of officemates portrayed by Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn and Kate McKinnon. The movie is filled with wild and funny takes on celebrating the holiday ritual, and shows off the city of Chicago in all of its winter glory.

Still on the fence about spending the holidays with Office Christmas Party? Perhaps you won't be after you get a taste of the new trailer, which Paramount Pictures just dropped on their Youtube channel. It comes packing some surprise gifts of laughter and a few killer one-liners, along with what could be described as the greatest wipeout ever.

Also, Tj Miller is seen renting babies. Bad Santa 2 proved to be a huge letdown for comedy fans over the Thanksgiving holiday. Perhaps this movie will get everyone in better spirits. Earlier this summer, Paramount debuted the first poster for their highly-anticipated Baywatch remake, which helped celebrate Father's Day with Dwayne Johnson and Jon Bass. We haven't seen anything from this movie since then, but today the studio is helping to celebrate the Halloween holiday with three new posters that shows these cast members are "so hot it's scary." It's possible that these posters could be leading into the first trailer's debut in the near future, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Sherlock Holmes 3 just took a massive step forward, because Warner Bros. and Robert Downey Jr.'s production company have just hired a writers' room to work on the script. The studio is clearly taking this very seriously, because they have brought in some big name writers to work on this anticipated sequel.

According to a report from Variety, Warner Bros. and Team Downey decided that bringing on just a writer or two for Sherlcok Holmes 3 wasn't good enough, so they hired five. The new writer's room for the movie will include Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman, Baywatch writer Justin Malen, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer Gary Whitta, Tomb Raider writer Geneva Dworet-Robertson and Snowden writer Kieran Fitzgerald.

Paramount, Universal and Legendary aren’t the only studios in Hollywood that have taken to the concept of a writers’ room; Variety brings word today that Warner Bros. has drafted in an assembly of screenwriting talent for Sherlock Holmes 3.

Among those selected are Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Rogue One scribe Gary Whitta, Geneva Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider) and Kieran Fitzgerald, whose last credit was for Oliver Stone’s button-pressing Snowden. That’s quite the cast of names, and though it’s often the case that a studio will recruit a crack team of scribes to fine-tune a franchise, Variety states that the idea behind Sherlock Holmes 3 is to extract all the possible ideas for the upcoming threequel, before deciding which is best to take the franchise forward.

It’s interesting that they set up a writers room like this for one movie. Most writers rooms are for big franchises that will have multiple films. For example, Paramount Pictures set up a writers room for Transformers and Universal Pictures set one for their upcoming slate of monster movies. According to the report:

Warner Bros is the latest studio to try the writers’ room approach for one of its movies, with an eye on finally getting this particular project off the ground. The film in question is Sherlock Holmes 3, that Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are set to star in. It’s been in gestation for some time now, and it seems as though getting the screenplay right is the current hurdle.

As such, the assorted companies behind the sequel – Robert Downey Jr’s Team Downey production outfit, Warner Bros, and Village Roadshow – are bringing together a bunch of writers to sit in a room and work it out.

The project is the directorial debut of The Hangover cinematographer Lawrence Sher, and is the first feature-length script from Justin Malen (Trophy Wife) to reach the big screen. Though Universal first adopted Clifford the Big Red Dog, tentatively placing a big-screen movie on course for release in 2016, Deadline brings word that the giant canine has now found a home at Paramount.

Enlisting screenwriter Justin Malen (Baywatch), it’s understood the rejuvenated feature film will incorporate both CGI and live-action sequences in a manner not dissimilar to Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book.

A product of celebrated author and cartoonist Norman Bridwell, Clifford the Big Red Dog first roared to life all the way back in the early ’60s, going on to become a fixture of childhoods nationwide through Bridwell’s own novels and the eventual TV adaptations. Now, a bona fide feature film is in the works.

Orbiting around Emily Elizabeth, a pint-sized young girl who grows up in a rural community, Clifford kicks into gear when, inexplicably, Emily’s loveable birthday present grows to be 25 feet tall.

Paramount Pictures has picked up the film rights to the beloved children's book series "Clifford the Big Red Dog" and is developing it as a live-action/CG hybrid feature (ala "The Smurfs," "Garfield").

Justin Malen, who penned the upcoming "Baywatch" film, will adapt the script from the 75-book strong series created by Norman Bridwell in 1963. The story follows the 25-foot-tall canine and his owner, the young Emily Elizabeth, and their misadventures together.

The books were previously adapted into a video series in the 1980s, two television series, and a 2004 animated film. David Bowers ("Astro Boy") was attached to helm this film when it was previously setup at Universal Pictures.
