Brendan Nelson(I)
Brendan Nelson is a prominent Australian public figure with a diverse and impactful career spanning medicine, politics, diplomacy, and business. A medical doctor by profession, he came to public prominence as the Federal President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) from 1993 to 1995. He was the youngest person ever elected to this position and was awarded the AMA's highest honour, the Gold Medal for "Distinguished Service to Medicine and Humanity."
Brendan was elected to the House of Representatives for the seat of Bradfield (NSW) in 1996, serving until 2009 as the Liberal member. Following the Liberal Party's defeat in the 2007 federal election, he was elected leader of the Liberal Party and became Leader of the Opposition. He served in this role until he lost the leadership to Malcolm Turnbull in September 2008.
In January 2023 Brendan was appointed senior vice president of The Boeing Company and President of Boeing Global.
