Image
Think Love Island, but for virgins.

The producers of the mega-hit Peacock sensation at ITV America have teamed with Plimsoll Productions for a new unscripted reality dating competition for Hulu called Are You My First?.

As the title of the series implies, the new “reality dating experiment” will bring together singles who are virgins in search of love. They will navigate “love, lust and losing it,” per the announcement.

The series is hosted by Bachelor Nation stars Colton Underwood and Kaitlyn Bristowe; Underwood was memorably the first-ever virgin Bachelor star in 2019. The former professional football player came out as gay in 2021, and has chronicled his personal life both in the 2021 Netflix docuseries Coming Out Colton and his New York Times bestseller, The First Time. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his husband, Jordan, and their son, Bishop.

‘Love Island USA’ EP Breaks Down Unprecedented Season 6 Success: ‘People Smell Bulls–t’
Image
“Love Island U.K.” has long been the standout for the franchise in which single people navigate romances, friendships and betrayals in a luxe villa. But after six seasons, Peacock’s “Love Island USA” finally got on equal footing with

the flagship series: The spin-off became last summer’s must-watch reality show in the U.S. It held the No. 1 spot across all streaming platforms in its first month and was a ubiquitous trending topic on social media.

“I remember being in my hotel room and scrolling TikTok, and it was just like, every video, every influencer, everyone was making something related to ‘Love Island,’” EP Simon Thomas told TheWrap. Like “Love Island U.K.,” the U.S. iteration gathers a coed group of contestants the show calls Islanders who are single and ready to mingle in a lavish setting full of nooks for stolen kisses and heated confrontations.

Hosted by “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix,...

Why The Casting Directors For This Season Of Love Island USA Deserve A Huge Pay Raise
Image
Love Island USA finally got the respect it deserved in Season 6 after an incredibly successful season. Love Island UK was the first of the franchise in 2005, which has since spiraled into several international versions. With USA being one of the newer franchise versions, Season 6 was its most viewed, streamed, and popular for many reasons.

Between the cast and the famous host, the casting directors of Season 6 deserve a raise for creating a near-perfect season. And while there will most likely be slight changes made to the formatting for Season 7, if the casting directors repeat what they did for Season 6, the franchise is on the right track.

Season 6 Of Love Island USA Was Influential For The Franchise

With 37 episodes (including the reunion), Season 6 of Love Island USA was America's most-watched reality TV series, according to Nielsen analytics. There were 434 million minutes of Love Island USA watched. Even more impressive, Deadline reported...

‘Love Island USA’ Producer On What Happened To The Hideaway In Season 6
Image
The drama on Love Island USA Season 6 has been sizzling that the Hideaway has not been featured in the Peacock dating competition.

ITV Entertainment executive producer Simon Thomas revealed in a recent interview the real reason the Islanders have not visited the Hideaway this season.

“We do indeed have a Hideaway in the main villa this season; there just hasn’t been the right opportunity to use it,” Thomas told People.

He continued, “We usually save the Hideaway for when couples are really clicking, but since it’s been such a rollercoaster for the Islanders so far, with a lot of couple-swapping and all the drama that comes with that, the timing has never felt right.”

The Hideaway is a remote area, set apart from the main villa, where coupled Islanders go for some privacy and enjoy each other’s company. For The Bachelor viewers, think of it as the...

‘Love Island Games’ EP on Harnessing Franchise’s Crossover Power: ‘How Can We Please Everyone?’
Image
With 22 international iterations of “Love Island” taking the lead from the franchise’s U.K. flagship series, “Love Island USA” producer ITV Entertainment aimed to harness the property’s crossover potential among American audiences in its newest spin-off, “Love Island Games.”

“We knew we had a disparate audience in America,” ITV Entertainment president and “Love Island Games” EP Simon Thomas told TheWrap, pointing to the movement of “Love Island USA” from CBS to Peacock. “There didn’t seem to be a huge amount of crossover, in that there’s a lot of American fans who just discovered the American show and didn’t know or care about the U.K. show — and then there’s hardcore American fans of the U.K. show and the Australian show.”

Taking the same fan-centric approach the franchise has embraced through its six-days-per-week release schedule, ITV Entertainment, which is one of ITV America’s six production labels,...
