Born into a military family, Kym grew up on army bases with roots in Omaha, Nebraska, London, England and Kansas City, Missouri but was later raised in Third Ward of Houston, Texas. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Prairie View A&M University and a Master's from Harvard University.
Kym was a schoolteacher on the Upper East Side in NYC for 10 years before transitioning into writing full-time. She loves being a mom and thinks motherhood is the greatest gift in the world!
Kym's themes amplify POC voices and fish-out-of-water characters starting over in life, using comedy as a conduit. Her screenplay nominations have garnered awards/placed in: Disney's DET CTDI Writing Program, Sundance Episodic Pilot Lab, and Austin Film Festival. She's a member of NYWIFT and WIF-Los Angeles.
