In the wake of Larry Fessenden’s werewolf movie Blackout releasing at home just last week, werewolf horror returns with the indie film Byte being unleashed later this week.

After its world premiere at the HorrorHound Film Festival in March, we’ve learned that Byte will be available April 18 on streaming platforms. Watch the official trailer below.

Brian S- First off, who are you and where did you come from?

Kz- Hello, I’m Kelsey. I’m from Eastlake, Oh, a suburb outside if Cleveland. I’m extremely passionate about the horror genre and am a huge film fanatic. I really love writing and acting in interesting films that question the dynamics in human nature and societal norms. I tend to be attracted to the darker side of this, it’s just very enthralling for me to examine.

Writer/director Eddie Lengyel dropped us a line with an update on Voodoo Rising featuring Brenna Lee Roth and Mark Cray along with Roger Conners. We've got a few stills and a trailer to share for the film, which Lengyel co-wrote with Kris Smith.

Voodoo Rising's other cast members include April Needham, Sarah Domanick, and Don Kilrain; and the editor is Mike Kolovich. It's the story of a group of friends who decide to spend their last summer together by taking a trip to the rural camping destination "Black Hills". Once there, they find themselves in the middle of a deadly quarrel with a local family, The Balmers. Sheriff Norman Balmer (Don Kilrain), who runs the campground, has a retarded son who gets himself shot and killed by one of the campers. A cast of familiar faces in the low budget, no budget indie horror world including Joe Zamora, Tina Grimm, Robert S. Miller, Roger Conners, Eman Khwaja, Kelsey Zukowski, Janine Sarnowski, Shawn C. Phillips, Kaylee Williams and Desiree Saetia star in director Eddie Lengyel's The Melon Heads. 

The Melon Heads was shot this past summer and is currently in post production. It was made on a budget of just $10,000! The film is a production of Fright Teck Pictures which is also responsible for Hellweek and Voodoo Rising. 

Official Plot Synopsis: As summer in Ohio draws to a close, four friends prepare to move forward with their lives and take their first steps into adulthood. Griff (Joe Zamora) is about to propose to his girlfriend Riley (Tina Grimm) as his best friend Dean (Robert Miller) debates on ending his relationship with Audrey (Eman Khwaja), who is about to move across the country to start her career.

Hellweek is the first feature film under Cleveland based horror production company, Fright Teck Pictures. I have to admit being from the area it is cool to see some of the locations in the film. Director Eddie Lengyel and Fright Teck clearly have a lot of passion for the genre and it shows in what they were trying to do. There are moments where this works, but all in all I had a hard time really getting in to the film. The general concept of the film definitely has potential, but too much time was spend on completely unlikeable characters that you couldn’t care less about and not enough on the more compelling back story and Texas Chainsaw Massacre-eque family.
