Cai is a Los Angeles-based Screenwriter and Director. He was born and raised in Wales and has a Welsh, Irish, and English heritage.
As a Horror Director and an '80s baby,' his many influences come from Directors such as Joe Dante, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Dario Argento, and later on Guillermo del Toro.
Growing up in a small village where there was not much to do apart from renting B-movie videos from the local video store, Cai steamrolled his way through hundreds and hundreds of Horror and Kung Fu movies, thus paving the way for his future love of Genre filmmaking.
Cai also quotes Jia Zhangke, Ozu, Tarkovsky, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Tsai Ming-Liang, and Kelly Reichardt as inspirations for his Art House films.
