DeKnight recently held a conference call to discuss what's in store this season, which features Liam McIntyre as the new Spartacus, replacing the late Andy Whitfield. One of the things I really love about the show is that no character is safe at any time and how do you go about deciding which of the characters should go and when and is there any character that you wish you still had for this upcoming season.

Steven S. DeKnight: Yes, there's always a question of, you know, on this show characters literally get the ax. I think ultimately for me it comes from the story is how is the story best served by a character death.
