“I will look into this”: Helldivers 2 Accused Of Preventing People With Disabilities From Fighting For Democracy, Arrowhead CEO Intervenes
Image
Helldivers 2 is one of the hottest games of 2024 so far. The co-op shooter has well exceeded expectations for both Sony and developer Arrowhead Game Studios, with incredible sales, player counts, reviews, and public perception.

That doesn’t go to prove that the game doesn’t have its faults, though, and Helldivers 2 has a big one, namely in the anti-cheat software Arrowhead has opted to use, which has affected accessibility for disabled players. Fortunately, a fix will be on the way as per the game’s director.

Anti-cheat Restricts Assistive Systems For Disabled Players

Helldivers 2 uses a system called nProtect GameGuard to mitigate cheaters on PC. The anti-cheat software is made by a South Korean company named Inca, who also handle security for 70% of the stock market and 90% of online games in Korea.

Reliably secure it may seem,...

“I will look into this”: Johan Pilestedt is Out There Proving He Won’t Allow Anyone to Miss Out on Helldivers 2
Image
Helldivers 2’s ongoing in-game planetary wars and missions may keep players busy, and Johan Pilestedt keeps a watchful eye over things. But some players are simply struggling to even get the game to work efficiently with specialized input. Such is the case with Steven Spohn, creator of AbleGamers Charity.

Steven has been having issues with Helldivers 2’s controller input, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by the devs. Johan Pilestedt made it a point to address the problem at its very core, and soon, the game will likely have accessibility support that enables a wider range of controller support.

Helldivers 2 needs more accessibility options, and Johan Pilestedt has acknowledged this There’s no running away from the much-needed accessibility options.

Steven Spohn is a popular persona in the gaming community and suffers from Sma (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). This restricts his muscles from functioning normally, something that may cause a hindrance...

Twitch is trying out new sponsorship tools. Streamers are less than thrilled.
Image
Twitch‘s decision to change its creator/platform revenue split from 70/30 (in favor of creators) to 50/50 continues to haunt it.

In an April 4 Twitter thread, Twitch said it’s conducting several “experiments” related to sponsored content, where brands partner up with creators and sponsor their streams. Plenty of Twitch streamers already regularly hold sponsored streams, and secure those brand partners themselves–meaning they get all the revenue from their deals.

Streamers say Twitch’s new experiments are an attempt to take a cut of that sponsorship revenue for itself.

We’re testing new experiences to connect streamers and brands by making sponsored streams work better for our community. We’re in the early stages of seeing what works, but want to give you a sneak peek. This month, you may start seeing sponsored streams including:

Why This 4-Year-Old Tweet From Ken Jennings Is Causing Backlash
Jeopardy (2002)
Over the course of his career, “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek has made one thing clear: he never intended the popular trivia show to stop if he wasn’t able to host anymore. Since his death from pancreatic cancer a few weeks ago, rumors have been flying about who might replace him, either as an interim or permanent host.

The most obvious name thrown around has been Ken Jennings, the 74-game streak, $2.5 million dollar winner who also recently claimed the title of “Jeopardy” Goat in a recent tournament. Given that Jennings recently signed on a consultant, it’s no surprise that the show has announced he’ll be the first in a series of guest hosts to lead “Jeopardy” before a permanent replacement for Trebek is confirmed.

Jennings clearly has all the makings of a good host: he knows his material, he was close with Trebek during his time on the show,...

Watch: Ryan Reynolds Waives Speaking Fee To Raise Awareness For Charity
Ryan Reynolds is a lot of things: a great actor, a social media laugh riot, owner of cellphone carrier company Mint Mobile and a great husband and father. Moreover, we love him for how hard he lampoons Green Lantern and how he champions the awesome Deadpool movie franchise – even if the third installment is frustratingly stuck in development hell. But I do think his latest move is one that is truly deserving of praise, cementing his reputation as an all-around nice guy.

Reynolds has waived his $278 million speaker’s fee – his words, not ours! – and appeared in a video to raise awareness for The AbleGamers Charity organization. It’s also a pretty safe bet that his actual fee doesn’t amount to $278 million.

AbleGamers.org has made it their mission to help gamers with disabilities find customized gaming setups that suit an individual’s needs and grants it to them through donor contributions.
