Who Is Louis Tomlinson’s Girlfriend Zara McDermott? All You Need to Know
Image
Love is officially in the air, and the Directioners are spiraling in the cutest way possible. Yep, Louis Tomlinson has seemingly traded in his low-key single era for something a little more selfie-worthy. After months of sneaky social media breadcrumbs, subtle tattoo sightings, and serious Instagram detective work from fans, the former One Direction heartthrob just made things Instagram official with none other than reality TV star and documentary filmmaker Zara McDermott.

And no, this isn’t any typical flash-in-the-pan celeb fling. These two have actually been dropping clues since March 2025, and now, they’ve sealed the deal with a red heart emoji.

Turns out, the lovebirds began buzzing their love with flirty follows, identical concert views, and a very telling Insta story that showed off one of Tomlinson’s unmistakable tattoos. Fast-forward to August, and it looks like they’re done playing coy.

Though Tomlinson is known for keeping his private life,...

Is ’Building the Band’ Runner-Up SZN4 Still Together? Latest Updates on the Group
Image
SZN4 was the only mix-gendered group on Season 1 of Building the Band. Aaliyah Rose, Cameron Goode, Donzell Taggart, and Katie Roeder formed the first band of the season and impressed mentor and lead judge Nicole Scherzinger from their very first performance. Throughout the season, the group was heavily favored to win the whole competition. They made it all the way to the final 2 against girl group 3Quency, and after both bands’ final performances, Scherzinger, Liam Payne, and Kelly Rowland decided the winner. 3Quency ended up winning the competition, which meant SZN4 finished in second place. This was all filmed a year ago, though, so where does the group stand now? Scroll down for the latest! Is SZN4 still together? Yes, SZN4 is still together and committed to making it work as a group. In fact, coming in second place “kind of put this fuel underneath us,” Rose told Tudum. “We were like,...

Netflix Hit Climbing Streaming Charts Is The Perfect Successor To This Classic Reality Show
Image
Netflix's latest singing competition show, Building The Band, is the best replacement for reality TV lovers who miss nostalgic programming like MTV's Making The Band, and it's climbing up the TV charts. Making The Band aired from 2000 to 2002 and made pop superstars of Aubrey O'Day and Danity Kane, plus other acts like O-Town and Da Band.

Cut to 2025 and, for obvious reasons, Diddy is out, and Backstreet Boys star A.J. McLean is in as host of Building The Band season 1, where he helped to whittle down 60 acts and put them together as six groups who competed for glory. A.J. was joined by guest judges including Liam Payne (in his final public appearance), Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger.

Building The Band is sitting at No. 9 on the Netflix charts for the week of July 21 to 27.

Building The Band season 1 recently aired its finale, and at the time of this writing,...

‘Building the Band’ Star Alison Ogden Praises Liam Payne for Paying It Forward as She Goes Solo
Image
For those who tuned in to Netflix’s “Building the Band,” there’s no denying that Alison Ogden was the narrator of the season — if not the outright main character. Despite her band Sweet Seduction falling short of making the finals, the singer made her presence known with her drive, talent and divisive personality.

Following last week’s Season 1 finale, Alison opened up to TheWrap about where she stands with her (former) Sweet Seduction bandmates, her fellow competitors, the people who didn’t get picked and even the judges, including late One Direction singer Liam Payne.

“Obviously, he was just — it actually feels so horrible to say ‘was’ — but he was such an incredible artist and creative force in the industry from such a young age, and he really shaped so much of what we expect from boy bands. He played such a transformative role in the music industry, in my opinion,...

‘Building the Band’ Producers Talk Season 2 Hopes and Liam Payne Legacy: “He Saw His Own Experience Up There on Stage”
Image
Producers of Netflix reality show Building the Band are opening up on filming with guest judge Liam Payne and discussing the chances of a season two.

The contest — where 50 musicians form six bands without ever seeing each other — has landed in the streamer’s global top 10 shows since it dropped on the platform July 9, boasting Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland and host Aj McLean among its celebrity panel.

Payne also stars as a judge on the show, filmed before his untimely death at just 31 in October 2024. Building the Band producers and Payne’s grieving family were weighing Payne’s inclusion, and ultimately decided to move forward with the former One Direction member remaining in the show made by Remarkable Entertainment (part of Banijay U.K.).

“Liam was conscientious, he was gracious and at times nervous, because I think he wanted to get it right for the bands,” executive producer Alison Holloway tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Image
Netflix’s Building the Band has become an even more special project for Nicole Scherzinger following the passing of her fellow judge and personal friend, Liam Payne. The Pussycat Dolls singer will sit down with Willie Geist for a special conversation on the Sunday, July 27, episode of Sunday Today. In a sneak peek of the interview, Scherzinger got emotional while reflecting on working with Payne on his last major project before his tragic October 2024 death at the age of 31. “What did he bring to that set and to that show, as you got to know him better, personally?” Geist asked, to which Scherzinger replied, “Well, you know, I put One Direction together, so it’s come full circle for us. And then, it’s full circle for Liam because he had the success with One Direction. And what did he bring? He brought the personal experience. He’s lived it.

Who Won ‘Building the Band’? Season 1 Winner of Netflix’s Singing Competition Revealed
Image
Building the Band has officially concluded with the release of its final three episodes on Wednesday, July 23. At the end of the finale, judges Nicole Scherzinger, Liam Payne, and Kelly Rowland were tasked with deciding on one band to win the competition and take home $500,000. Heading into Episode 10, there were three bands left: SZN4, a mixed group, 3Quency, a girl group, and Iconyx (previously named Soulidified), a boy band. Each band performed in front of their biggest audience yet. The judges deliberated and decided that Iconyx would be the first eliminated, leaving just SZN4 and 3Quency left. Both bands gave one last performance, with the judges once again in control of who would finish as the winner and who would be named runner-up. In the end, it was the ladies of 3Quency who won the whole show. That meant SZN4 came in second place. ...

Why Did Paul Wesley Break Up With His The Vampire Diaries Co-Star?
Image
Paul Wesley is all set to be married a third time as he has proposed to his girlfriend, Natalie Kuckenburg. He was previously married twice and was in a high-profile relationship with one of his co-stars from The Vampire Diaries. Wesley, who played Stefan Salvatore, began dating Phoebe Tonkin, who played Hayley Marshall, after his split from his then-wife Torrey DeVitto.

The two Vampire Diaries actors had an on-and-off relationship during their time on the show from September 2013 to October 2017. They spent a Christmas with Tonkin’s family in Sydney, Australia, during their relationship. Tonkin once spoke about the actor during an interview with Elle in March 2015, where she called him her “best friend.”

She shared, “It’s such a fun time in my life right now. It’s nice to have someone to share all that with.” Tonkin and Wesley called it quits on their relationship in October 2017. Tonkin...

‘Building the Band’ Boasts Blind Auditions & Final Bows
Image
Full Circle Fame Netflix’s newest binge-worthy reality series, ‘Building the Band’, is making waves- and not just for its format. A spiritual successor to the boy band boom of the early 2010s, the show tries to recreate the accidental lightning-in-a-bottle that gave us One Direction, but with a twist: it’s curated by the contestants themselves, not producers or celebrity judges. It’s a modern take on an old formula, an intentional attempt to recreate the kind of moment when Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger saw potential in five solo auditioners and formed a global phenomenon. The presence of the late Liam Payne as a mentor adds emotional weight and legacy to the series. Shot before his tragic accident, his return alongside Scherzinger feels like a farewell, a tribute, and a baton-passing all at once. The series even opens with a quiet dedication to the One Direction star- making...

Nicole Scherzinger Says Liam Payne’s “Happy Place” Was Making ‘Building the Band’: “He Loved to Help”

Nicole Scherzinger, mentor and judge on Netflix’s new reality show Building the Band, is opening up about filming with Liam Payne before the singer’s tragic death last year.

The Pussycat Dolls singer was one of the creative brains behind One Direction during her time as a judge on the U.K. X-Factor, helping to put together the group that catapulted Payne and fellow band members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan to global stardom in 2010.

Scherzinger spoke to Billboard about filming the Netflix contest — where 50 musicians form six bands without ever seeing each other — alongside host Aj McLean, Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland and Payne.

The British musician died aged 31 after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Oct. 16 in 2024. In a story published Thursday, Scherzinger reflected on her time spent seeing Payne’s rise to fame on the X-Factor and how...

Building the Band Review: Flawed Format, Affecting Mentorship
Image
Just when you thought the televised singing competition had sung its last note, Netflix re-enters the arena with “Building the Band.” The concept feels like a mad-lib of recent reality TV hits. Fifty hopeful singers are sequestered in individual pods, tasked with forming the next great pop group.

The catch? Every decision is made sight-unseen. Hosted by the Backstreet Boys’ own Aj McLean, the show forces contestants to judge one another based on voice alone. Each singer performs for their peers, who listen from their isolated booths and vote on who they want in their future band.

It’s a high-stakes social experiment staged in a recording studio, one that asks if a group built on pure vocal attraction can find harmony once the members finally see each other. The premise is clean, the ambition is clear, and the potential for a train wreck is delightfully high.

A Glitch in...

‘Building The Band’ Execs On Working With The “Glorious” Liam Payne & Why It’s Always A Good Time For A New Talent Show
Image
Building the Band will be dedicated to the “glorious” Liam Payne, according to the execs behind Netflix’s latest juggernaut talent contest.

Guest judge Payne filmed his Building the Band scenes before he died last year after falling from a hotel balcony. After speaking extensively with the former One Direction singer’s family, Netflix decided to push on with Building the Band and the show that launches its first eps tomorrow will begin with a tribute to Payne. His sister Ruth Gibbins said on Instagram this week she is “heartbroken” that Payne will never see how “brilliant” he is on the show.

“The show is dedicated to him and that is absolutely right,” said exec Cat Lawson, who co-runs Banijay-backed Building the Band producer Remarkable. “We all loved him and I think he was amazing in the show.”

Lawson described the “huge shock” of Payne’s passing last October, which impacted the whole team.

‘Building the Band’: Aj McLean Promises Liam Payne’s Final Project Shows the ‘Best Version’ of Him

Just months before Liam Payne died at the age of 31 in October 2024, he filmed what would become his final project. The One Direction singer served as a mentor and guest judge on Netflix’s new series Building the Band alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland. Backstreet Boys star Aj McLean hosts the new series, which begins with the first four episodes premiering on Wednesday, July 9, and he tells TV Insider that he formed a close relationship with Payne while they were working together. “A lot of our past lives were very mirrored, even though there’s an age gap, it doesn’t really matter,” McLean explains. “We kind of lived very similar paths, kind of that uncomfortableness in our own skin, but feeling safe when we’re on stage and when we’re doing what we love to do. He was just an absolute sweetheart.” McLean also says the show...

Image
Netflix’s new reality series Building the Band debuts next week—and marks the final project from the late singer Liam Payne. She'll be joined by Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland and Payne as special guest judges. Watch Liam Payne Offer Guidance to Aspiring Musicians in ‘Building the Band’ Trailer

Earlier this month, Netflix provided a first look at its upcoming series, Building the Band, which also became Liam Payne’s final project before his unexpected death. Now, the first official trailer for the show has dropped, providing fans a closer look at Payne’s participation.

The concept for Building the Band loosely follows the same formula as Netflix’s Love Is Blind, only this time with a musical element: Musicians blindly choose band members from individual booths, basing their decisions solely on someone’s vocal chops without being able to see the person performing.

Liam Payne Compares ‘Building the Band’ Process to His One Direction Days in Netflix Trailer
