Jak Knight’s death sent shockwaves through Hollywood on Friday as word spread of his untimely passing at age 28.

Originally from Seattle and based in L.A., Knight was a regular on the stand-up stage and collected many admirers, friends and fans during a brief but bright career that included writing and voicing a character on Big Mouth, co-creating and starring in Peacock’s just-released Bust Down opposite close friends like Chris Redd and Sam Jay, and opening for stand-up legends like Dave Chappelle.

In today’s TV news roundup, HBO announced the premiere date for new docuseries “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark,” and Showtime released a first look at “Outcry,” premiering on July 5.

HBO has announced “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark” will debut on June 28 at 10 p.m. The six-part docuseries, based on Michelle McNamara’s best-selling book of the same name, explores McNamara’s investigation into the world of the Golden State Killer. Syfy Wire’s ‘The Great Debate’ Sets Summer Debut With Baron Vaughn As Host
The world’s most pressing questions are about to be answered by a group of the most knowledgable nerds thanks to the forthcoming series Syfy Wire’s The Great Debate. Hosted by comedian and actor Baron Vaughn and his robot sidekick Db-8, the series will be a touchstone of nerd culture as celeb panelists will debate he hottest burning questions in science fiction, fantasy, horror, comics and general geekdom.

Set to debut this summer, the new series will include 12 half-hour episodes and will go into production in Los Angeles in March. The show will throw a group of nerds in a room as they answer questions like “Who’d be a worse boss, Darth Vader or the Joker?” or “Would you rather have a Green Lantern ring or a Wizard Wand?”

Syfy Orders ‘The Great Debate’ TV Show Based on Comic-Con Panel
Syfy has picked up 12 episodes of a game show based on the hit Comic-Con panel “The Great Debate,” the network announced Tuesday.

Hosted by comedian Baron Vaughn, who also hosted the panel, “Syfy Wire’s The Great Debate” will feature a panel of celebrity guests and pose questions like, “Who’d be a worse boss, Darth Vader or Joker?” or “Would you rather have a Green Lantern ring or a Wizard Wand?”

The show is set to begin filming in Los Angeles next month, with an eye to premiere this summer. No guests have been announced, but past Comic-Con panel participants have included Orlando Jones, John Barrowman, Adam Savage, Aisha Tyler, Joe Manganiello, Thomas Lennon, Felicia Day and John Hodgman.
