Born to farmers Neville & Noddy Connors, Shalane grew up on a parrot farm in regional NSW. Raised alongside hundreds of birds, horses, donkeys, rottweilers, snakes, & siblings.
Having spent most of her childhood horse-riding, dancing & studying music, she didn't discover acting until her late teens. She then went on to study at UOW completing a bachelor of Performing Arts.
After graduating she fell into the music world after winning a songwriting comp at Tamworth Country Music Festival along with her sister. They formed a folk duo called 'Siskin River' for which she wrote & toured original music for the next five years, as a singer and guitarist. The band released two EP's and an Album, and played at major Australian music festivals including Falls Fest, Woodford, Queenscliff, Fairbridge, Festival of The Sun, and Bluesfest, to name a few.
After the unexpected death of their father the band broke up, & Shalane moved to Sydney in 2016 to continue her acting work.
