Exclusive: Odeya Rush has been cast as a series regular opposite Patrick Dempsey, Michael Imperioli and Richard Harmon in the new Fox drama series Memory of a Killer, from Warner Bros Television and Fox Entertainment, which is slated to premiere in midseason.
From writers Ed Whitmore and Tracey Malone, Memory of a Killer is inspired by the award-winning 2003 Belgian thriller De Zaak Alzheimer (La Memoire Du Tueur) and follows Angelo Ledda (Dempsey), a hitman who is leading a dangerous double life while hiding an even deadlier personal secret: He has developed early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Rush will play Maria, Angelo‘s daughter. Married young and pregnant, it seems she’s chosen a quiet life. But something stirs in her – a yearning for adventure. Despite her young age, Kiernan Shipka's best movies and TV shows show just how long she has been around and the impressive career she has built. The American actor started her career at a young age, proving herself one of the most acclaimed child actors on television as Sally Draper in Mad Men. However, she escaped the trap many child actors have found themselves in as she continued working and began to earn teenage roles as well as young adult roles.
Shipka has proven herself a lead actor, starring in fan-favorite series as well as winning comedies. She has also had standout supporting roles in a number of movies, including several of the biggest titles of the last year. With her adult acting career only getting started, it is clear there will be many great projects to come from Shipka, but her best movies and TV shows already show her talents.

Christmas romance movies are a classic addition to the list of films that are perfect to watch during the holiday season. There are many familiar favorites that audiences return to year after year, like It's A Wonderful Life, Love Actually, and Elf, but there are just as many overlooked romantic holiday movies that are perfect for new traditions. Whether they're recent rom-coms that subvert expectations and challenge the genre or older movies that never reached the heights of popularity as other classics, these movies all bring the nostalgia and warmth of the season.
Most romantic holiday films make up the best Christmas movies without Santa, as these projects focus on character and use the holiday season as a sentimental and cozy setting. The look and feel of a Christmas movie are of the utmost importance, as viewers should feel as though they've been transported into the winter wonderland of their dreams.

Horror movies such as those from the Conjuring Universe can be particularly scary. They often rely on jump-scares and an overwhelming sense of dread that can leave audiences sleeping with the lights on. However, not all horror movies are designed to send traumatizing chills down your spine, with some being crafted specifically to entertain the whole family.
Of course, these family-friendly horror movies have their fair share of scares and thrills, but they are nowhere near the level of horror being put out by franchises such as Halloween or The Conjuring. The spooky forces at play in these movies are more exciting than terrifying, and are more than overpowered by the presence of comedic moments, over-the-top characters, and heartwarming themes. These movies have the unique ability to give audiences thrills without giving them nightmares.

Making horror stories for kids is a tricky balancing act, but many modern TV series have become more and more adept at it. Many of the scariest TV shows for kids are the products of the late 80s and early 90s, in which spooky content for younger audiences was slightly more commonplace. After a brief lull, more modern series of the late 2010s and early 2020s have dared to venture back into the children's horror space, providing thrills and chills to younger viewers.
Scary kids' shows typically come in one of two flavors. Some are simply standard animated series that aren't afraid to get a little more adult or mature with their themes, frequently delving into horror or mystery territory in between more lighthearted comedy. The more common variety of kids' horror shows is the horror anthology series, already a proven format for adults thanks to series like Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone.

At a Friday afternoon press conference, Nicole Kidman said that the anticipation of presenting the world premiere of her new erotic thriller Babygirl had her feeling “exposed and vulnerable and frightened.” But those emotions certainly were not on display as the Oscar-winning actress hit the red carpet at Palazzo del Cinema in Venice later that night.
Kidman looked every bit like the confident movie star as she faced the crush of photographers, press and adoring fans in an avant-garde couture creation by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli. Fans lining the barricade erupted with cheers as she made her entrance in a striking ensemble that featured a corset bustier in nude organza embroidered with black sequins that cascaded into black fringes. Fans lining the barricade erupted with cheers as she made her entrance in a striking ensemble that featured a corset bustier in nude organza embroidered with black sequins that cascaded into black fringes. Filmmaker Jonathan Glazer's speech at the Oscars sparked controversy, and now more than 500 Jewish filmmakers, artists, and producers in Hollywood have written a letter denouncing him. Famous signatories, including Eli Roth and Jennifer Jason Leigh, denounce Glazer for equating Nazism with Israeli actions. Glazer's film, The Zone of Interest, won the Oscars for Best International Film and Best Sound and is considered a masterpiece. His speech called for peace and criticized the dehumanization of any group.
It's been eight days since MovieWeb was at the 96th Academy Awards, and there are still thunderous rumbles in Hollywood over the Best International Film acceptance speech given by Jonathan Glazer for The Zone of Interest. While the speech (which was misleadingly misquoted by Variety and other outlets) may seem harmless to many people, decrying any act of dehumanization and murder, be they committed by Nazi or Hamas, Israeli or Houthi, American or Iranian.

It’s the execution that matters in thrillers, and Dangerous Waters is one film that dwindles a lot in that department. Directed by John Barr, the film is one of the last performances by Ray Liotta, and this movie is dedicated to his memory. Besides that, the interesting part about this movie is that there is a lot of emphasis on grit and survival in the plot. The whole film screams of being a low-budget cult film, but there just isn’t that ‘x factor’ present to make it so. Odeya Rush, Eric Dane, and Saffron Burrows are good performers who understand the tone of the film, and they are cast quite brilliantly, but the structure and believability of the scenario of the film don’t do justice to the otherwise decent thriller.

Dangerous Waters is one of the most underrated thrillers of the year so far, a tense survival action film focused on a damaged young woman who learns to fight for her right to live despite a bevy of predators trying to dominate her, not to mention the natural elements. Odeya Rush plays Rose, a working class woman who goes on a Bermudan vacation with her mother and her mother's new boyfriend, played by Eric Dane. When pirates ambush the ship, she is forced to use her wits to survive as Dangerous Waters takes viewers from a small yacht, to an abandoned island, to a dangerous pirate ship.
Director John Barr spoke to MovieWeb about the film, which contains Ray Liotta's final performance. Liotta passed away during the production, but his appearance here is unforgettably haunting, and Barr has captured not just history but a fitting testimony to one of the greats.

One of the things that most drew actress Odeya Rush to “Dangerous Waters” was how the story develops and ends. In the film, now available on demand, Rush — plays Rose alongside Eric Dane and the late Ray Liotta.
Rose’s mother Alma (Saffron Burrows) drags her daughter along on a sailing trip with Derek Stipes (Eric Dane), Alma’s new boyfriend. The plan is to chart a course to Bermuda, but things go wildly wrong along the way. Rose first grows suspicious of Derek because he has guns stowed on his boat. Unfortunately, some of his old colleagues, now seemingly enemies, raid Derek’s boat and shoot Rose’s mother.
“It was complicated because Rose has really good instincts and she’s seen her mom get hurt. She’s taking the parental role. Rose smells out Derek from the beginning and she still wants her mom to be happy,” Rush...

Dangerous Waters is a notable release for the fact that it’s Ray Liotta’s very final turn, though it should also be commended for an impressive leading performance too, from Israeli-American actress Odeya Rush. To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure in speaking to her via Zoom, as she talks about the challenges in shooting a film that requirs such physicality, and her own thoughts on the action genre.
She also talks about her experience working alongside the iconic Liotta, while she looks back on other noteworthy collaborations, such as Greta Gerwig in Ladybird, and Larry David in Curb, which we naturally are intrigued to discuss.
Watch the full interview with Odeya Rush here:
Synopsis
A sailing adventure to Bermuda spirals out of control when 19-year-old Rose discovers the hidden depths of her mother’s new boyfriend and his connection to a dark underworld led by The Captain.

Ray Liotta's final scene in Dangerous Waters is praised by director John Barr as "art" and a testament to his incredible talent as an actor. The scene was filmed with varying tones, gradually getting darker, allowing for a powerful and impactful performance from Liotta. Liotta's co-stars Odeya Rush and Eric Dane also express their admiration for his passion, respect, and impressive work on set, highlighting the impact he had on the filmmaking community.
The final scene filmed by the late, great Ray Liotta has been praised by Dangerous Waters director John Barr, who describes the Goodfellas star as “unafraid” and “super impressive to watch." Speaking exclusively with MovieWeb, Barrr could not heap enough praise on Liotta and his talent as an actor, with Dangerous Waters marking one of the actor’s final movie roles.

In Dangerous Waters, a young woman and her long-widowed mother, Rose and Alma, accompany Alma's new boyfriend, Derek, on his ship for a boozy Bermudan journey. Rose works long hours at a hotel, living out a working class existence without her father, who died serving overseas. She doesn't want to go on this boat trip, but she wants her mother to be happy. She also doesn't really trust Derek; why does a retired cop have an Ak-47 on his boat? When pirates ambush them on the open water, Rose and Derek will have to figure out a way to survive.
Odeya Rush thoughtfully plays Rose as one of those many people in life that the world seems to want to crush, and she responds with a melancholic resilience and manipulative skill, refusing to stay down. Eric Dane is clever and intimidating as Derek, a big guy with stepdad vibes and dark,...

Brainstorm Media's latest film, Dangerous Waters is a compelling thriller set on the isolating open water, which gives birth to a badass new female heroine. Its oceanous setting, untrustworthy characters, and blood-pumping music make for a tense survival thriller. The cast is brilliant, with Odeya Rush (Goosebumps) stealing the show as a worthy female protagonist who kicks ass, as well as a clever performance by Eric Dane (Euphoria), and a short but surprising appearance from Ray Liotta (Goodfellas).
Liotta passed away mid-production, forcing a quick rewrite of Dangerous Waters to change some things around. As a result, the film never really stays on one course, and while it's mostly set on the ocean with two characters, the film ends with an exhilarating, action-packed third act that somewhat comes out of nowhere. Don't get us wrong, it's a well done finale and we are glad that it's here, but it...

Odeya Rush gets a decent showcase in John Barr’s undeniably entertaining family drama, unsubtle and faintly ludicrous
After a shaky start on land, this maritime thriller unexpectedly turns into a passable showcase for its young Israeli-American star Odeya Rush, who we see transform from sullen teenager to crack-shot commando in a little over 90 minutes. Claustrophobic family drama, survivalist ordeal and balls-to-the-wall action barnstormer – any one of these would have amply filled out a single film. But director John Barr chucks all three into an unsubtle and faintly ludicrous outing that at least is never boring.
Rose (Rush) gets an invite on board a Bermuda-bound yacht, via her mother Alma (Saffron Burrows) who is being romanced by private security consultant Derek (Eric Dane). Grossed out by their middle-aged canoodling, Rose is nevertheless chuffed for her mother, who has raised her solo. But she begins to have suspicions about Alma’s...

The awards show will also be posthumously honoring former Sony Pictures Entertainment senior VP and music supervisor, Pilar McCurry.
Williams’ standards have been recorded by such decorated artists as Ray Charles, David Bowie, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, the Carpenters, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Luther Vandross and Willie Nelson, among others. He’s previously been recognized with six Oscars, nine Grammys, six Golden Globes, and two Emmy nominations.
“There is a strange, beautiful alchemy, that occurs when the perfect song placement transforms
both the scene and the song,” said Williams in a news release. “I have been graced with many opportunities to write music for picture in my career, and it feels like magic every single time.
