Rep. Debbie Dingell Shares Example of Abuse Since Trump Bashed Late Husband: ‘I Hope Your Family Dies in Front of You’
Image
Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) shared an abusive voicemail with CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday during a segment on the hostile work environment in Congress.

“You ought to get the fuck off the planet, you fucking foul bitch,” an angry male caller barked. “They ought to fucking try you for treason, bitch. … I hope your family dies in front of you. I pray to God, if you’ve got any children, they die in your face.”

"It's pretty toxic, there's no question about it," GOP Rep. Fred Upton...

Fox News Hosts Hit Trump for "Appalling" Comment About Late Congressman
Maria Bartiromo
Fox News Media hosts, including strong supporters of the president, such as business host Maria Bartiromo, took President Donald Trump to task on Thursday for suggesting during a political rally Wednesday night that late congressman John Dingell is "looking up" from hell.

Bartiromo hosted Dingell's widow, Rep. Debbie Dingell, on her show on Thursday morning. "Congresswoman, I'm sorry about this, that happened last night," she told her. "This was completely — it was so unnecessary. How are you feeling?" She added, later, "John Dingell was loved on both sides of the aisle."...

Viacom, CBS Name Doretha Lea EVP Global Public Policy And Government Relations
Image
Viacom and CBS have appointed Doretha “DeDe” Lea as EVP Global Public Policy and Government Relations of ViacomCBS, a position that will become effective when the pending merger of the companies is closed.

As the top lobbyist for the soon-to-be-merged company, Lea will report to CEO Bob Bakish. The $30 billion, all-stock merger of CBS and Viacom is expected to close by the end of 2019. Both companies already share the same controlling shareholder, National Amusements, and operated within the same corporate structure from 2000-06.

Among the many regulatory and legislative issues in Washington, ViacomCBS will be continuing to safeguard its rights to retransmission consent, which have turned into a lucrative revenue source over the years.

In a move related to Lea’s appointment, longtime CBS lobbyist John Orlando will leave the company at the time of the close. In addition to his two-decade run at CBS, Orlando also worked on Capitol Hill for 14 years.

Donald Trump
A Twitter employee allegedly decided to leave the company with a bang.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump‘s Twitter account was shut down and the social media company has put the blame on by an employee who was working their last day.

For eleven minutes at 7 p.m. Et, people searching for the commander-in-chief’s Twitter account only encountered a bright blue page that read, “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!” The account has about 41.7 million Twitter followers.

John McCain Blames His Confusing Comey Questions on Staying Up Late to Watch Baseball
Donald Trump
Arizona Sen. John McCain is blaming his convoluted line of questioning at Thursday’s James Comey testimony on his decision to stay up late the night before to watch a baseball game.

Many on Twitter were left scratching their heads after the 80-year-old Republican senator grilled Comey during the hearing about why the FBI closed its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, while continuing its probe of the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

At one point in his lengthy inquiry, McCain seemed to suggest that Clinton may have colluded with Russia to sabotage her own campaign.

Vietnam Pilot Who Saved 44 Lives Awarded Medal of Honor 49 Years Later: 'I Couldn't Leave Anyone Behind'
Four helicopter trips into a combat zone. Forty-four people saved. Forty-nine years. It would be difficult to sum up Lieutenant Colonel Charles Kettles' life in numbers, but those are the essential ones. In May 1967, two years into America's ground war in Vietnam, Kettles, then a major, was the lead pilot of six helicopter crews sent to rescue a group of American paratroopers trapped by North Vietnamese troops. Monday, he received the nation's highest honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor, for his efforts. "A soldier never leaves his comrades behind," President Barack Obama said Monday when he presented Kettles, 86, with the Medal.

Suggestive Trump-Pence Logo Disappears as Running Mates Get Off to an Awkward Start

It appears the Donald Trump-Mike Pence logo released on Friday was nothing but a one-night stand. After the running mates' first attempt at a logo was mercilessly mocked by the Internet for being sexually suggestive, Trump's campaign unveiled a modified version of the graphic on Saturday in an email officially introducing the Indiana governor as the Gop nominee's vice-presidential candidate. The new logo featured the word "Trump" atop the word "Pence," doing away with the interlocking T and P logo that prompted former Democratic Michigan Rep. 'It's Literally a T Penetrating a P': Twitter Mocks Trump-Pence Logo for Being Sexually Suggestive
Donald Trump
The Internet would like the new Donald Trump-Mike Pence logo to "get a room." The logo, unveiled Friday shortly after Trump announced the Indiana governor as his vice presidential running mate, shows the letter "T" (for Trump) cutting through the letter "P" (for Pence). The logo was trending on social media Friday for all the wrong reasons, as Twitter users ridiculed the symbol for being sexually suggestive - or at the very least, evocative of toilet paper. "How are we supposed to explain the new Trump logo to our children??" one critic wondered. "What is the T doing to that P?...

Representative John Dingell has faithfully served Michigan's 12th District for nearly 60 years, so you'll pardon him if he hasn't had time to decipher the science behind Sharknadoes. “So it's a tornado full of sharks?” the United States Congressman tweeted Wednesday (see below). “That's what the entire film is about?” See video: ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’ Offers Expanded Trailer, Sarcastic Recap The country in general — and his constituents in specific — are just hours away from the premiere of SyFy's highly anticipated twister-meets-shark sequel, “Sharknado 2,” and Congressman Dingell is apparently curious as to what all the fuss is about. Epa apologizes on Twitter for promoting Kim K game
Washington, July 23: Epa has apologized for promoting 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood' game from their official account on twitter.

A spokesperson later said that an Epa fellow inadvertently triggered an auto-generated tweet, after which she regretted the error and had been advised on the sensitivities of using social media, Fox News reported.

The promoting tweet was deleted after approximately three hours, but by then it had more than 3,000 re-tweets and a comment from Michigan Democratic Rep. John Dingell, who was the last original author of the Clean Water Act and didn't know Kim K.

An apology tweet was posted later, according.

House Committees Begin Process To Shape An “Internet Era” Communications Act
The effort to craft the first major revision of the Communications Act in 18 years could be interesting but probably will end up to be a politically factious mess. House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., said today that he plans hearings and studies for “a multi-year effort to examine our nation’s communications laws and update them for the Internet era.” Upton was joined in a Google Hangout announcement by Communications Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden, R-Ore., who says that they “plan to look at the Communications Act and all of the changes that have been made piecemeal over the last 89 years and ask the simple question: ‘Is this working for today’s communications marketplace?’” For example, he says that cable operators complained to him that they have to pay franchise fees but Netflix doesn’t. The Gop leaders didn’t include Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., who’s also on...

Pelosi, Others Serenade Longest-Serving Congress Member
John Dingell
Washington — A Capitol ceremony honoring Rep. John Dingell for becoming Congress's longest-serving member in history featured the expected, such as praise and jokes from Vice President Joe Biden and House Speaker John Boehner. It included the unexpected – a pointed pitch to a roomful of congressional leaders and lawmakers by Cardinal Theodore McCarrick for controversial immigration legislation.

Yet it was hard to top a performance by singer Mary Wilson backed up by a vaguely synchronized chorus line that included House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the actress Lynda Carter.

Wilson, an original member of The Supremes, a marque 1960s group of Detroit-based Motown Records, sang a brief set of songs climaxed with their upbeat hit "Stop in the Name of Love." Pelosi, Sebelius and Carter – along with Dingell's wife, Deborah, and Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Calif. – formed an unlikely dance line behind her, singing and...
