Big E’s Fiancée Kris Yim Can Be More Lethal on Mic Than Him and This Proves It
Image
Big E became one of the modern era’s most popular and captivating WWE superstars. He, along with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, formed one of the most entertaining and cohesive units in WWE history, The New Day, and they stayed together for a decade. In this journey, E also found love with a woman named Kris Yim.

Furthermore, Kris herself has an interesting wrestling connection. That could have been a possible reason for Kris to show that if given the microphone or chance to deliver a promo, she could easily surpass her husband and be even more savage than him, as seen in an exchange with E’s former friend, Xavier Woods.

How The Oc Can Survive After Aj Styles' Devastating Injury
Image
Over the weekend, Aj Styles confirmed via Twitter that he'd broken his ankle during a WWE live event in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He noted that the injury would not require surgery but wrote that it "will be the longest" he's ever been away from a wrestling ring. That's a tough break for The Oc. The group has been embroiled in a lengthy feud with Judgment Day on Raw. WWE had given the two factions a lot of prime real estate to work with on the red brand, taking up much space in the midcard. Styles and Balor wrestled at Survivor Series, with The Phenomenal One going over, so WWE might have been looking at moving past that feud regardless of Aj's injury. Still, The Oc will need to solider forward without their longtime leader.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were brought back to WWE to specifically work the Judgment Day angle with Styles back in October.

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, the First Raw of 2023, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down this week and see how it bodes for the year ahead!

Match #1: Bianca Belair def. Alexa Bliss (Dq) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Bianca Belair put her Raw Women’s Championship on the line in a very tough title showdown against Alexa Bliss. When the action moved outside the ring, Bliss spotted two different Uncle Howdy faces in the crowd. Moments later, the TitanTron began to flicker, and Bliss to became unhinged and lost control. After attacking the official in the ring, the incensed Superstar went ballistic on The Est of WWE and delivered two brutal DDTs to her onto the steel ring steps.

WWE Hall of Famer Shoots On What "Kind Of Guy" Aj Styles Is
Image
Aj Styles has been one of the best professional wrestlers since the early 2000s, and a WWE Hall of Famer recently gave fans some insight into what the veteran is like backstage. The Phenomenal One has been absent from Raw's championship scene for quite some time, with Roman Reigns holding both the WWE Championship. Still, he's one of the company's most dependable hands, and audiences know they're in for a treat whenever his—or The Oc's—music hits. Kurt Angle spent time with Styles while he was in Tna and recently spoke about how awesome Aj is to work alongside.

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic Gold Medalist said the following about one of WWE's workhorses in Styles: "Whether I was alongside him as a tag team or working with him, he made me better. Every time I wrestled with him or against him, he made me better.

Backstage Report On Edge's Contract Status With WWE
Image
Edge hasn't been seen on WWE television since losing to Finn Balor in an I Quit match at Extreme Rules on October 8. Since then, the group he created following WrestleMania 38, Judgment Day, has been running roughshod over Raw's roster. The group got the better of Rey Mysterio and is currently engaged in a feud with The Oc. Fans might wonder what's going on with Edge, given that he signed a three-year deal before his return at the Royal Rumble in 2020. The 2023 edition of that premium live event is right around the corner, meaning that the Rated R Superstar's contract might be wrapping up soon.

In a recent report, Fightful conveyed the following: "WWE sources confirmed that Edge is on a deal with limited dates, which is why he has appeared periodically since splitting him from the Judgment Day feud." The post continued, stating that "n 2020, it was reported that...

Akira Tozawa & Rhea Ripley Crack Intergender Wrestling Door Open For WWE
Image
WWE Raw featured a handful of surprises, but none were more significant than Rhea Ripley's impromptu match against Akira Tozawa. The show opened with a bout between the Street Profits and the tandem of Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Tozawa accompanied Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford to the ring, while Ripley and Dominik Mysterio rounded out the Judgment Day quartet. In the closing moments of that tag-team tilt, Tozawa spits a liquid implied to be a hard liqueur into Mysterio's eyes, infuriating Ripley. Rhea challenged Akira to a match in response, and WWE, somewhat shockingly, made it official and rang the bell.

Intergender wrestling isn't a concept that WWE has worked with extensively. On a base level, that makes sense. WWE is a publicly-traded company, and the optics of a man hitting a woman, wrestling match or not, on live TV aren't good. Ripley Vs. Tozawa was a...

Saraya Opens Up About WWE's Backstage Perception Of Aew
Image
All Elite Wrestling fans and WWE fans love to get into brand superiority arguments on social media, but wrestlers such as Saraya continue to stress that there are no backstage issues between the two rosters. Aew has had its fair share of internal problems throughout 2022, of course. Cm Punk's blowup at All Out is this generation's Montreal Screw Job. And WWE isn't without warts of its own. When it comes to contracted WWE talent having problems with Aew wrestlers and vice versa, just for being on the opposite brand, well, the concept totally overblown.

Saraya spoke about this perception during a lengthy interview with Forbes. "When I was backstage in WWE, I didn't see people talk s*** about Aew." The former WWE star went on to explain why. "People were just happy that there was another place for people to go. When people would get let go in WWE,...

Match #1: Rhea Ripley vs. Mia Yim (No-Contest) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

With both Superstars still battered and bruised from their explosives WarGames Match two days earlier at Survivor Series, Rhea Ripley of The Judgment Day and Mia Yim battled. Before a winner could be determined, however, interference from Dominik Mysterio drew the ire of Aj Styles and, with it, an early end to the match. WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2022 Matches
Image
WWE's next premium live event, Survivor Series: WarGames, is set to take place on November 26, and the card is shaping up to be another strong one for Triple H and his creative team. There has been a limited amount of time to build toward this event. Crown Jewel took place on November 5 and featured several massive matches for the company, including Roman Reigns vs. Logan Paul and Brock Lesnar clashing with Bobby Lashley. Despite only having three weeks of television to work with, Survivor Series is packed with intriguing matches that should have repercussions on both Raw and SmackDown.

That's a pleasant change of pace for Survivor Series, which has felt like an afterthought since the brand split. Every year, WWE tried to get fans to care about makeshift groups of red-brand and blue-brand wrestlers. And these attempts to put on compelling matches typically fell short. Becky Lynch was...

Rhea Ripley Teases Huge WrestleMania 39 Match & Names Dream Opponent
Image
Over the last few months, Rhea Ripley has evolved into one of the top stars of WWE's incredible women's division. She hasn't been involved in a solo feud—at least up until Mia Yim's debut last week. Instead, she's been generating a ton of boos for Judgment Day while working as their heater. Her on-screen relationship with Dominik Mysterio feels a bit flat, but in general, her involvement with the heel stable has been incredibly beneficial for her main roster career. Last week, Ripley had a backstage run-in with Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair, which planted the seeds for a match between those two in the future.

Speaking to usanetwork.com recently, the 26-year-old named who she'd like to work with at WrestleMania 39. "I think it would have to be myself and Bianca Belair for the Raw Women's Championship. Whenever we step in the ring together, it's magic.

Unstoppable Ronda Rousey Sets Up Massive WWE SmackDown Return
Image
WWE is setting Ronda Rousey up to go on a long run as SmackDown Women's Champion, which could eventually lead to one of three massive returns. The Baddest Woman On The Planet is currently involved in a program with Shotzi, who won a six-pack challenge to become the No. 1 contender for the title on the most recent episode of SmackDown. Those two will have a match at Survivor Series, and it's tough to come up with a scenario where the former Nxt standout beats Rousey. WWE already took that route with Liv Morgan over the summer, and having Ronda lose another match so soon would be a disservice to what she brings to the table.

Instead of losing at Survivor Series, it seems much more likely for Rousey to go on a run where she tears through the Women's Division, person by person. With Shayna Baszler at her side, Triple H...

Massive WWE Star Has Backstage Heat For Online Antics
Image
Braun Strowman isn't a fan of "flippy" wrestling, and he once again made that stance clear on Twitter following WWE's recent Crown Jewel premium live event. Those comments have reportedly landed him in some hot water backstage, as he apparently has heat for his online antics. The 6-foot-8, 344-pound Monster Of All Monsters squared off against Omos, who is 7-foot-3 and weighs north of 400 pounds. It was a true clash of the titans, and the match was about as good as it could have been, considering the in-ring imitations of both men.

After Crown Jewel, Strowman took to Twitter to sarcastically give the match a 47-star rating while also writing that "no one cares about all these floppy floppers." Several wrestlers responded to the 39-year-old on the platform, while others backstage are also displeased, according to Fightful Select. "The heat on Braun Strowman is very real," according to their post on Patreon.

Logan Paul, Future WWE World Champion?
Image
Logan Paul might have lost to Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel, but one longtime insider believes the YouTube star could be a world champion if he ever decided to focus on wrestling. The Saudi Arabia main event was more than just a good bout for a rookie. Paul continued to prove that he had the natural physical ability needed to be a superstar in the professional wrestling business. He could use a bit of work on the mic, but so could a lot of other former titleholders in WWE.

Dave Meltzer gave Paul some glowing praise in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. "Paul will never be a full-time pro wrestler even though he clearly loves it, but if he for whatever reason decided to be, he could be a world champion level guy in not all that long a period of time. He is comfortable talking,...

John Cena Said To Be Returning To WWE For WrestleMania 39 Match
Image
John Cena hasn't wrestled for WWE since SummerSlam in 2021, but a recent backstage rumor indicates that he might be returning for WrestleMania 39. The un-seeable one isn't likely to wrestle a match in 2022, ending a 20-year streak of working at least one bout every 12 months. Still, getting him back for the Los Angeles edition of the Showcase Of The Immortals would be a massive boon for WWE and its fans. Especially if long-rumored Rock Vs. Roman Reigns fight is on the card as well.

In a recent report, WWE insider WrestleVotes told GiveMesport.com that Cena could be a part of WWE's biggest show of the year. "Cena should be there, and Cena should be wrestling," said WrestleVotes. They continued, stating that "WrestleMania is still WrestleMania, and it's in Los Angeles. If Cena is legitimately trying to be 'the next Rock' you should perform at WrestleMania in Hollywood, and I think he'll be there,...

Theory Should Shift His Character After Failed Money In The Bank Cash In
Image
Austin Theory's failed Money In The Bank cash-in has the WWE Universe thinking he's been buried. While that's true in the immediate sense, it's also what makes the most sense for him and the company moving forward. In a way, the November 7 episode of Monday Night Raw undid one of Vince McMahon's last (and most egregious) mistakes. The 25-year-old should have never held the briefcase in the first place. His winning it was an attempt at a gotcha' moment from a booker who was, by the end of his time in WWE, remarkably out of touch with what the fans wanted to see.

Unfortunately, a failed cash-in attempt was the only way Theory's run with the briefcase would ever end. There's no universe where McMahon would have put him over on Roman Reigns, and Triple H was wise not to shoehorn Theory into the main event picture when...

Mia Yim Is The Oc's Perfect Counter To Rhea Ripley Of The Judgement Day
Image
Mia Yim returned to WWE on November 7, joining The Oc in their heated feud against Judgement Day. For months, dating back to their rivalry with the Mysterios, Judgement Day has been winning matches via interference from Rhea Ripley. Beth Phoenix tried to be the equalizer for Edge when he was fighting Balor in an I Quit match at Extreme Rules, but not even the Hall Of Famer was enough to turn the tides. The reinforcement has been a long time coming for Aj Styles as he builds up forces to take on the Finn Balor-led stable on Monday Night Raw.

Enter Yim, who has enough of an edge to be a real equalizer against Ripley. Since Judgement Day formed, Ripley has been utilized as a Chyna-esque heater. She is a woman who is capable of beating up half of the guys on the roster due to her size and strength.

Along with her short purple hair, she accessorized with a silver chain around her neck and a bracelet on one arm.

The Impact Wrestling star only used a clock or time emoji for her caption and a tag for the photographer Illite Fotos.

Illite Fotos is no stranger to shooting other wrestling stars.
