This year’s SXSW Film Festival, taking place in Austin, TX, has unveiled its lineup this afternoon and it’s another insanely packed year for horror premieres.

While the Midnighter section is dedicated to the genre lovers, SXSW 2025 has filled its Headliner section and beyond with buzzy, highly anticipated titles including Flying Lotus‘s sci-fi horror movie Ash, Christopher Landon‘s ode to Brian De Palma in Drop, and A24’s Death of a Unicorn. Also look for Clown in a Cornfield, the film adaptation of Adam Cesare’s YA slasher novel.

NonStop Entertainment has acquired Nordic distribution rights to Mattias J Skoglund’s upcoming horror The Home [working title].

The film will begin production in Gotland, Sweden in spring, produced by Siri Hjorton Wagner for [sic] film. LevelK is handling international sales.

The Home is based on Mats Strandberg’s 2017 novel of the same name, about a man who returns to his small town to care for his dementia-stricken mother, as she experiences terrifying visions of her late abusive husband.

Strandberg is adapting his book in collaboration with Skoglund; co-producers are Elina Litvinova of Three Brothers and Heather Millard of Compass Films. Financing comes from the Svenska Filminstitutet,...

Paris-based sales company Totem Films has boarded Lovisa Siren’s new film “Sagres,” a dynamic European road movie.

“Sagres,” which has just gone into production, follows two sisters and a teenage daughter who travel from Stockholm, Sweden, to the picturesque cliffs of Sagres, Portugal — located in the southwestern most part of Europe, known as “The End of the World.”

Maya, the younger sister, is a free-spirited, half-failing musician who has left her son in Portugal with her mother, while older sibling Nilo is a control freak in a sexless marriage. When the sisters’ mother phones up to say she’s sick, the pair — joined by Nilo’s rambunctious teenage daughter Laura — embarks on a road trip through Europe to reunite in Sagres, culminating in a tragicomic reunion no one expected.

“Sagres” marks Siren’s feature debut. Her 2014 film “Pussy Have the Power” picked up the Best Short Award at the Goteberg Film Festival.

The film is comprised of six shorts following women dealing with discrimination.

Screen can reveal the first trailer for Force Of Habit, a Finnish feature comprised of six short films about women looking at gender stereotypes.

The all-female production explores the different forms of discrimination faced by women both in public and in private. Screen first reported on the project in October last year.

The episodes that comprise the anthology are presented under the four category banners of consent, rape, gaze and power dynamics.

15 female directors and screenwriters were assembled for the Finnish production, six episodes of which have been assembled into this feature.

Two feature-length fiction films, as well as four feature-length and two short documentaries, have received production support from the Fff in October. The Finnish Film Foundation (Fff) awarded over €1 million in production support this October, with the money going to two feature-length fiction films, as well as four feature-length and two short documentaries – this time including three minority co-productions. Firstly, the Dionysos Films production 70 Is Just a Number has been backed to the tune of €700,000. It is being written and directed by Johanna Vuoksenmaa, recently seen entertaining local audiences with the 2015 comedy Adult Camp. Another feature, Sagres – a minority co-production set to be helmed by Lovisa Síren and produced by Siri Hjorton Wagner – will be overseen by the omnipresent Tuffi Films and supported with €100,000. In the documentary field, the shorts Best Possible Life, directed by Jussi Sandhu and Ville Hakonen (Wacky Tie...
