Sour Party, the feature debut from co-writers/directors Amanda and Michael Drexton (billed as “The Drextons” in credits), isn’t particularly original in its narrative beats, a “one crazy day” story that takes us to various locations and introduces us to various characters in Los Angeles, but its telling is so specific that it feels special. The film begins with Gwen (co-writer Samantha Westervelt) and James (Amanda Drexton) bemoaning the state of the world and their place in it. They’re women in their 30s who have no direction and are all too aware of the many crises facing the planet and country. But when Gwen’s older sister reminds her of the baby shower she’s supposed to attend, Gwen becomes determined to buy a gift from the registry....

The Chattanooga Film Festival is celebrating its 10th year with an impressive in-person and virtual lineup that includes world premieres, special events, and the latest and greatest in genre cinema. Taking place from June 23 - 29, we have a breakdown on everything that has been announced:

While the festival will have various locations around the city, the main venue will be Chattanooga’s historic and legendary haunted The Read House Hotel. The hotel’s 1920’s beauty and the tale of Room 311, with resident ghost Annalisa, makes it the perfect backdrop for the festival’s 10th Anniversary.

Beyond the pilot competition, highlights of the June 21-26 festival, inlcuded panels featuring Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos and a team of executives and collaborators from Shondaland. NBC fall drama Bluff City Law had its world premiere, and Starz rolled out the first episode of The Rook. Stevie Wonder and Usher performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver, continuing the mostly TV-focused festival’s annual music undercurrent.
Currency, a drama imagining a “green-out” that threatens the capitalist system, captured Best Drama Pilot honors as well as the Audience Award. Best Comedy Pilot went to Brooklyn Moving Company, which depicts movers who burst into song and dance.
Jurors screened 53 pilots at the Sie FilmCenter, the arthouse multiplex that is the year-round home of Denver Film. (See the full list of winners below.)

Kely McClung's (Blood Ties) Altered is a supernatural thriller. Slightly surreal and definitely brutal, the film involves an undercover cop, a serial killer and an altered reality. Their latest title is No One Will Know and the film involves the cover-up of a crime. This indie thriller will release June 18th on DVD. The story focuses on Nathan (Ben Bledsoe) and Aubrey (Jesse Draper). They have committed murder on the day of their engagement party.
