Jackie Chan’s Karate Kid: Legends has finally been released in theaters and sees two worlds colliding. Ralph Macchio’s Daniel Larusso was last seen in the finale of Cobra Kai and returns in the latest film. The Karate Kid franchise has had a resurgence since the Netflix series debuted, and it was the perfect time for the movie to be released.
However, despite the presence of both Macchio and Jackie Chan, and the franchise’s resurgence, the latest film failed to rake in huge numbers at the box office. It faced stiff competition from holdovers like Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning, which did not slow down after their release weeks.

No disrespect to the dojo, but like it or not, "Cobra Kai" was a show that, as it progressed, settled into the camp of "so good it's bad" and remained there for six entire seasons. Even with the message it aimed to convey and the underdog story centered around ended with Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), the show was still about high school kids taking karate class way too seriously, perhaps even more than Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) did back in the day. It's also what made some of the show's fight scenes so eye-rollingly tolerable. Sure, they were well-choreographed, but next to shows like "Warrior" or "Gangs of London," "Cobra Kai" was outclassed. It's this setback that becomes even more noticeable when one of its most respected teachers tries to impart wisdom to a new student in "Karate Kid: Legends" (read our...

The Karate Kid universe is back, and this time, it’s legends only. Karate Kid: Legends is shaping up to be one of the most exciting nostalgia-packed comebacks of 2025. Bringing together old-school fans and a new generation of martial arts lovers, this reboot/sequel promises intense fight choreography, heartfelt mentorship moments, and yes, some epic crane kicks that’ll make your inner dojo warrior cheer.
With Og icon Jackie Chan returning and joining forces with Ralph Macchio, the hype is real. Add in a fresh cast of rising stars and a slick modern spin on the franchise’s signature themes of honor, perseverance, and self-discovery, and you’ve got a film that’s practically begging to dominate theaters.
But behind all that action and excitement lies a big question: what did it cost to make this karate-fueled blockbuster, and how much does it need to earn to be considered a hit?...

It was a surreal and heartbreaking night at Staples Center as the Lakers hosted their first NBA game following Kobe Bryant’s death.
During an emotional pre-game ceremony, which featured performances by Usher and Boyz II Men, and a rousing speech from star LeBron James, the organization saluted one of the league’s all-time greats in Bryant, who, along with his daughter, Gianna, and seven others, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash Sunday morning.
“We’re all hurt and heartbroken,” James said, fighting back tears.
Standing next to two lofty bouquets of purple and gold flowers, shaped in Kobe’s numbers, 8 and 24, James told the sold-out crowd that Friday night wasn’t Bryant’s actual memorial – that would happen soon – but a “celebration” of the basketball icon, otherwise known as “The Black Mamba.”
