Original 'Hellraiser' Actor Returns in Upcoming 'Revival' Video Game
Image
Gamers get ready to reunite with the original horror and sex icon, Pinhead. The original Pinhead actor from Clive Barker's demonically sultry horror franchise Hellraiser, Doug Bradley, is putting the pins back in. Well, virtually, that is. While Bradley has been open about how he is willing to reprise the head cenobite of horror author Barker's creation in live action under the right conditions, the actor is officially back in the leather and chain saddle for an upcoming video game release. Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games recently released a gory announcement trailer, and an even gorier Red Band version, for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, a new single-player game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Bradley is officially back for a new entry into Pinhead's twisted adventures. The new story-driven action survival horror game will allow players to open the box of painful nightmares, and summon...

A “Gloriously Nasty and Sensual Spectacle” Is Streaming on Hulu; Don’t Miss It
Image
We seem to have finally arrived at a point where studios understand that most fans (myself very much included) don’t want to watch a frame-for-frame remake of a beloved property that does nothing to justify its existence. We’re beginning to see more and more largely original takes on existing IPs that provide a sense of familiarity before carving out their own path. David Bruckner’s Hellraiser reboot walks that very line remarkably well. If you haven’t yet experienced his impressive take on the property, we urge you to seek it out via Hulu!

The 2022 redux tells a largely original story within the Hellraiser universe. The film additionally upends expectations by featuring a female Pinhead in Jamie Clayton. Clayton brings the character to life with an androgynous quality that recalls depictions of the beloved antagonist in The Hellbound Heart, the novella upon which the series is based.

Why Aml Ameen Left Sense8 (The Real Reason)
Image
Actor Aml Ameen left Sense8 before season 2, and thanks to his performance in the show's first volume many wonder why Capheus was recast. The Wachowski sisters (The Matrix) created Sense8, which follows 8 strangers from different countries and cultures who come to realize they have a psychic connection and can share emotions, knowledge, and skills with one another. They belong to a rare breed of human beings known as “sensates,” but their shared connection soon leads to them being hunted down by shadowy forces.

Capheus, an African bus driver inspired by martial arts movies, was one of the most likable members of the core sensate group. It was announced prior to the arrival of Sense8 season 2 that Aml Ameen, who played Capheus, quit the show and would be replaced by Toby Onwumere. With Aml Ameen's sudden departure from his Capheus Sense8 role, there were quickly rumblings of creative differences and rumors...

Scarlett Johansson Refused To Play A Transgender Character For This Reason, ‘I’ve Learned A Lot From The Community’
Image
Here’s why Scarlett Johannson refused to play a Trans character (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Scarlett Johansson pulled the plug on her Rub & Tug role faster than we could say “bad casting call.” She was all set to play Dante “Tex” Gill—a 1970s transgender crime boss—until the internet blew up over it. The issue? The Avengers star isn’t trans, and the LGBTQ+ community wasn’t having it. Cue the backlash.

At first, Scarlett went into full defense mode, pointing fingers at other actors who played trans characters. “Criticism can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman’s reps,” she quipped. Not the best move. Trans advocates like Jamie Clayton and Transparent star Trace Lysette weren’t thrilled. Lysette tweeted, “I wouldn’t be as upset if I was getting in the same rooms as Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett for cis roles, but we know that’s not the case.

Every Cenobite In The Hellraiser Movies (Including The 2022 Reboot)
Image
All the cenobites in Hellraiser are unique, and the pleasure-seeking demons are why the franchise has remained so beloved since Pinhead was introduced in Clive Barkers original 1987 Hellraiser. The Hellraiser franchise delves further into the world of the Labyrinth and Leviathan, giving viewers a look at how disturbing they are and introducing many cenobites to terrorize those foolish enough to toy with the Lament Configuration. Dozens of cenobites appear in the 11 Hellraiser movies, and each of them is different, with many more grotesque to behold than even the iconic Pinhead.

The variety and abundance of cenobites in Hellraiser allows the franchise to thrive. Across every entry in the Hellraiser franchise, the cenobites showcase the alien beauty of the demons in Barker's chilling, carefully crafted world, featuring designs that intertwine flesh, leather, and metal to personify pain and pleasure. Throughout the Hellraiser sequels and reboots, along with countless comics, the...

Zack Snyder's Twilight of the Gods Isn't Quite Accurate to Norse Mythology
Image
Zack Snyder's Twilight of the Gods on Netflix includes eight animated episodes of blood, carnage, and sex as it tells the story of Sigrid and Lief, lovers from different worlds. Sigrid, half-human and half-giant, and Lief, a mortal king, are to be married, but their union and its presumed lack of offspring brings about the ire of Thor. After a tragic event leaves Sigrid's entire family dead, the female warrior vows revenge. Thor's brother, Loki, is more than happy to help Sigrid for his ends. A battle unfolds, one that two groups of Norse gods, the Vanir and the Aesir, as well as humans.

Twilight of the Gods is what Netflix calls a "daring and spectacular interpretation of ancient Norse mythology to life." As an adult-oriented animated series, Twilight of the Gods has an adventurous spirit as it explores love, grief, revenge, and mortality. Like most shows about Vikings and the Viking Age,...

Twilight Of The Gods Voice Cast & Character Guide
Image
Twilight of the Gods is a Norse-inspired animated series on Netflix by Zack Snyder and features a stacked cast of talented voice actors. One of Netflix's upcoming animated shows, Twilight of the Gods tells the story of Sigrid, a strong-willed Viking warrior. After being wronged by the Norse gods, Sigrid builds a team of adventurers to seek revenge against the deities across an eight-episode story, marking the first TV show of Zack Snyder's career.

Naturally, Twilight of the Gods' story will feature the distinct visual flair of Snyder's past efforts. This, combined with the musical score by Hans Zimmer, has led many to hope Twilight of the Gods will pair up with Snyder's best-ranked movies as one of the more story-intensive projects of his career. Aiding Snyder and the other writers of the show, Eric Carrasco and Jay Oliva, will be Twilight of the Gods' voice actors, a collection...

How Zack Snyder Made ‘Twilight of the Gods’ Into a 2D Animated Adult Fever Dream of Sex and Violence
Image
For Zack Snyder, the 2D adult animated “Twilight of the Gods” series (currently streaming on Netflix) became his purest form of visual expression. In fact, his deep dive into Norse mythology was like a fever dream of sex and violence driven by the wild hand-crafted animation from French-based Xilam Animation.

“It was 100 percent like [a fever dream],” Snyder told IndieWire. “The amazing thing about it is the language of 2D adult animation fits so well within the context of Norse mythology, which is a bizarro world anyway. Digging down into it, you’re not going to break it with your own embellishments: We should have a sexy scene here, or we should have some gore here, or we should have some crazy relationships here. You can’t out-Norse it, right? So it was a really fun playground for me because I feel like my natural aesthetic is very close to what it was like reading Norse mythology.

Zack Snyder's New Netflix Series Gets Mixed Early Reviews From Critics
Image
Zack Snyder is at it again, dividing critics with his new animated series Twilight of the Gods. Based on Norse mythology, Twilight of the Gods follows Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks) as she swears bloody revenge against Thor (Pilou Asbaek) and the rest of the Asgardian deities. The series is Snyder's sixth partnership with Netflix, and the director's first full foray into animation, and, in true Zack Snyder fashion, critics can't agree with their opinions of the show.

The early reviews for Twilight of the Gods are a mixed bag. The majority of reviews have called the series an up-and-down affair. According to critics, Twilight of the Gods combines beautiful visuals (a staple of Snyder's movies) with an undercooked story that lacks narrative depth. However, some critics absolutely adore the show. Steve Seigh of JoBlo wrote, "Twilight of the Gods is a brilliantly bloody and well-crafted epic that brings promise to the filmmakers foray into animation.

The First Reactions to ‘Twilight of the Gods’ Are In: Has Zack Snyder Finally Done It?
Image
Movie lovers will know that Zack Snyder is a very divisive personality in the world of cinema, as you either love his movies or you hate them. With Snyder, there is no in-between; his vision is so specific that you will either like it completely and enjoy his movies or think it completely ridiculous and consider his movies a failure.

There are numerous projects we could cite, but that would take too long. After the recent failure of Rebel Moon, many believed that Snyder’s career was on its way to oblivion, but it seems that his latest project, the animated series Twilight of the Gods, is doing well and might just usher in some new life into his career.

The series is finally available on Netflix starting on September 19, 2024, and it seems that the first reactions are surprisingly positive, which might indicate that the series might be a hit...

Twilight Of The Gods Reviews Are In: "Zack Snyder Finally Has A Winner On His Hands"
Image
All episodes of Twilight of the Gods are now streaming on Netflix, and the review embargo for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series lifted around the same time the show premiered.

This isn't always a great sign, but the first wave of reviews have been mostly very positive.

Snyder's work has rarely gone over well with critics, but his last Netflix collaboration - the Rebel Moon movies - really came in for a drubbing. So far, Twilight of the Gods has fared a lot better.

Though there are some negative verdicts, the majority of write-ups praise the animation style, world-building, voice-acting and bloody action - although it sounds like Snyder may have overindulged in the graphic violence and sex a little too much for some tastes.

Have a read through the reviews below, and we'll be sure to update once we have a Rotten Tomatoes score.

Twilight of the Gods TV Review – Zack Snyder’s Norse-inspired animated series is bold, bloody, and beautiful
Image
Plot: After traveling to Jötunheimr in search of his brother Loki and finding the giants uncooperative, Thor lays waste to the entire population, save for the human-sized giant Sigrid and her fabled warrior lover, Leif. Together, they vow revenge against the gods, sparking a war that brings about the death of the Æsir and Vanir in the ultimate battle against evil.

Review: Have you ever watched superhero movies and thought, “Sure, those Norse gods seem cool, but I really expected them to be… I don’t know… bloodier?” Forget Chris Hemsworth’s jubilant quips and Mimir’s witticisms from Sony’s God of War: Ragnarok. The gods, born from humankind’s imaginations and stories, reflect our lust for power, carnal desires, and hubris. Whereas most of Hollywood’s portrayal of the gods offer tempered, toothless, and sanitized versions of literature’s all-powerful chess pieces made flesh, Twilight of Gods reminds us of how cruel,...

‘Twilight of the Gods’ Review: Zack Snyder’s Romantic, Brutal Honoring of Norse Mythology
Image
In the opening scene of Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods, Leif Völsung (Stuart Martin) tells his men how he met his betrothed, Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks). The animated series cuts to a kinetic depiction of the Norse king’s story. At the height of a battle on a wintry field, a warrior tears her way through an invading army and, with a feat of preternatural skill, saves Leif’s life. Before long, only the pair of newfound comrades remain standing, the snow beneath them marred by streaks of blood that resemble the scribbles of a giant.

Once the fighting concludes, Hans Zimmer’s spirited score turns to grim quiet, but that calm is cracked by a lightning bolt that heralds the arrival of a valkyrie, descended from the heavens to take the valiant dead to Valhalla. “As it left us, the valkyrie bowed,” Leif recalls. “To my Sigrid. And I knew love.

‘Baby Reindeer’ Star Nava Mau on Becoming a Trans Advocate Following Emmy Nomination and Success of Netflix Drama
Image
“Baby Reindeer” star Nava Mau may be becoming a trans role model following the success of the Netflix drama and her Emmy nomination for her work on the show, but the actor isn’t ready to call herself an “activist.”

“I really shy away from that word because I think that people who are activists are often times involved with organizing and I deeply respect that work,” Mau told me Friday at the Television Academy’s Performer Nominee Celebration at The Wallis in Beverly Hills. “I tend to call myself an advocate.”

Mau’s nod for outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie makes her the first transgender woman nominated in that category.

She becomes emotional when talking about hearing from trans youth who thank her for her visibility. “It makes me cry a little bit,” Mau said.

She recalls being honored at the Toronto International...

‘Twilight of the Gods’ Trailer Highlights Zack Snyder’s Graphic Embrace of Vengeance and Violence in Animated Series
Image
Netflix released the official trailer for “Twilight of the Gods,“ Zack Snyder’s 2D adult animated series about the clash between Norse gods and mortals (premiering September 19). The mythic tale of vengeance and power unfurls amidst an abundance of choreographic violence and gore.

It’s a tragic love story that begins with badass warrior Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks) heroically saving the life of mortal king Leif (Stuart Martin) — in slow-mo, of course, with beautiful streaks of blood. But their wedding day is destroyed by Thor (Pilou Asbæk), who slaughters her family, sending Sigrid on a vengeful rampage. With Leif by her side, she forms a band of rebels to kill Thor, with the support of Paterson Loki (Paterson Joseph), who wants to take over the world of the gods.

With gorgeous animation from Xilam Animation, Snyder explores a range of graphic styles culled from comics and anime. It’s like a...

Zack Snyder’s ‘Twilight of the Gods’ Trailer Promises Bloody Vengeance
Image
After showing brief glimpses of Twilight of the Gods earlier this year, Netflix is offering a more extensive look at the animated series from Zack Snyder.

The streamer has released a full trailer for the series, which takes Norse mythology as its source material — featuring a vengeful, very much not Marvel-influenced Thor and a still-scheming Loki. The show centers on Sigrid (voiced by Sylvia Hoeks), a fierce warrior who saves King Leif (Stuart Martin) in battle. After they marry, the couple “survive a wrath of terror from Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them and a crew of crusaders on an against-all-odds and merciless mission for vengeance,” per the show’s description. Watch the trailer below.

Snyder’s producing partner and wife, Deborah Snyder, told The Hollywood Reporter at a Netflix event in June that the streamer offered them creative freedom in making Twilight of the Gods: “We pitched them...

Image
"They want a war... I will give it to them."

Following several brief teasers, Netflix (via Toonado.com) has released an action-packed full trailer for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on September 19.

This "blood, sex and dragons" promo makes it abundantly clear that this will not be a show for the whole family, as a mortal warrior named Sigrid wages war against Loki, Thor and all of their fellow Asgardian gods in extremely violent fashion while also taking care of some other business in the bedroom.

"In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love," reads the recently-released synopsis. "On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive...

‘Twilight of the Gods’ Red Band Teaser: Revel in Zack Snyder’s Hardcore Animated Series About Norse Mythology
Image
Norse gods and mortals clash in all their bloody glory in Zack Snyder’s 2D adult animated series, “Twilight of the Gods,” premiering on Netflix September 19. The streamer has released a red band teaser trailer that revels deliciously in all of the graphic gore.

However, their wedding day is tragically destroyed by Thor (Pilou Asbæk), causing Sigrid to go on a vengeful rampage.

The series (from The Stone Quarry and Xilam Animation) is co-created by Snyder, Jay Oliva, and Eric Carrasco, with Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Oliva executive producing. Snyder, Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl, and David Hartman direct the eight episodes.

Doctor Who Companions’ Best Post-tardis Roles
Image
Post-2005 Doctor Who main TV-show companions. That’s the first qualifier to add to the following list. For now at least, we’re celebrating only the Nu-Who main companions who had their own proper stint travelling in the Tardis, or any of the many wonderful actors who preceded them in the classic era.

Now that the rationale has been set out, join us to round up some of the best after-Who roles from the likes of Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman, Catherine Tate, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, Jenna Coleman, Pearl Mackie, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole. It’s too early to add Millie Gibson to this gang but look out for her in rebooted period drama The Forsyte Saga when it arrives.

Twilight Of The Gods: Sigrid Wages War Against Thor In Bloody First Teaser For Zack Snyder's Animated Series

"The gods started this war, now it's time to fight."

Netflix has released an exciting - and fairly gruesome - first teaser for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on September 19.

The promo is less than 40 second long, but it crams in quite a bit of bloody action, as a mortal warrior named Sigrid wages war against Thor and all of his fellow Asgardian gods.

"In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love," reads the new synopsis. Zack Snyders Netflix Show Can Quickly Remedy Disappointment Surrounding His Recent $166 Million Project
Image
Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon movies fell short of their promise, receiving negative reviews from both critics and audiences. The follow-up, Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, was also a disappointment, potentially hindering plans for a cinematic universe. Snyder's upcoming animated series Twilight of the Gods based on Norse mythology has the potential to redeem his recent missteps.

Billed as a must-watch cinematic event, director Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon movies fell incredibly short of their epic promise. The first in the two-part saga, 2023's Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire, was an exposition-stuffed, formula-following sci-fi flick that received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. While its follow-up, 2024's Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver, was meant to deliver an epic, action-packed conclusion to all of that derivative world-building. Instead, the Rebel Moon sequel was perhaps an even bigger bomb for Snyder and Netflix.

Although Snyder,...
