Where Was The Last Of Us Filmed? Every Major Location Explained
Image
HBO's "The Last of Us" is notable for its impeccable production design, stunning cinematography, and its remarkable use of its locations to bring the post-apocalyptic world of the video games to life. The series features a lived-in, rugged, and vast reimagination of what becomes of America as the cordyceps fungus spreads, and filming on location helps bring that world to life in the prestige HBO drama series.

Although "The Last of Us" is set in the US, filming for both seasons primarily took place in Canada. Numerous locations were repurposed to recreate some of the series' most notable settings, many of which were faithful recreations of the worlds that the games introduced in both Parts I and II. With two seasons of "The Last of Us" now complete, here's a look at some of the series' major locations and how they were effectively used to immerse viewers into the cutthroat,...

The Last of Us Season 2’s Biggest Crime Is How They Massacred Tommy’s One Man Army Revenge Arc After Joel’s Death
Image
Joel’s death is what drives the entire story of The Last of Us Part 2. And it’s going to do the same for the second season of HBO’s adaptation. In Tlou Part 2, Tommy Miller is more than just Joel’s brother; he becomes an arrow of vengeance out to claim justice. But TV Tommy has been written a bit differently.

So instead of the Tommy that wreaks havoc going through the Washington Liberation Front, we got a completely different plot line for him. In HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 3, we see that his revenge arc is completely removed. So if we aren’t getting the one-man army, what are we getting?

Season 2 of The Last of Us has made a lame change to Tommy’s arc

In the original game, Tommy is the first to react decisively after Joel’s death. Fueled by guilt and fury,...

“I cried my eyes out”: The Last of Us’ Gabriel Luna Promises Big Things for Season 2 Ep.3
Image
HBO’s The Last of Us proves that video game adaptations can be good and rival the source material quality-wise. Fortunately, the team behind this live-action adaptation is familiar with the games and worked with the original game creators to ensure authenticity.

Gabriel Luna stars as Tommy Miller, but this character was mostly absent in the first season; he was given more to do this time, and the showrunners even gave him an epic battle sequence. The action sequences planned for his character might have excited him, but the drama was enough to shed a few tears.

‘The Last of Us’ Is Gaslighting Us Into Thinking Tommy Wouldn’t Have Gone Full ‘Rambo’ for Joel
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers for The Last of Us S2: E02

Joel Miller trusted two people more than anyone in his world. Ellie must be the obvious name that pops into your mind. But Joel’s go-to guy (even before the outbreak) was his younger brother, Tommy.

Some would proudly tell you he’s a younger, more ruthless version of his sibling. Well, that’s only half the story. Video game Tommy is well-qualified to put the fear of god in your soul. Gabriel Luna’s live-action Tommy is steadily drawing similar parallels. But the whispers are growing—has the TV series missed a crucial beat with the character’s portrayal?

Tommy is much more than just Joel’s baby brother

No one was ready to witness the death of Joel Miller, that too, in the second episode. To drive a broken golf club-cum-shaft into his neck in front of his foster daughter?...

‘The Last of Us’ Fans React to Huge Season 2 Episode 2 Twist: ‘Welcome to the Trauma’
Image
It’s no surprise that the second episode of “The Last of Us” Season 2 is sparking a lot of reaction online.

For many fans of the video game series, the events that took place in Episode 2 – “Through the Valley” – was the one to look forward to or dread. In it, Joel (Pedro Pascal) stumbles across Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) while running to avoid a massive horde that has been dormant in the snow. She convinces him to come back to the nearby ski lodge where she and her friends are waiting for her – unfortunately the offer is anything but altruistic.

Once they get to the lodge and knock Dina (Isabella Merced) out, Abby gets down to what she came all this way for. She shoots Joel in the leg and then starts to beat him for an undetermined time, but long enough that even the rest of her friends are upset by it.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Stars Explain Maria & Tommy’s "Softer" Parenting Dynamic
Image
It might have taken some time, but the second season of The Last of Us has premiered. Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) had arrived at the Jackson, Wyoming settlement towards the end of Season 1. Season 2 picks up five years later, and lots has changed in that time period. Joel and Ellie's relationship has taken a significant hit, while Ellie has been able to curate a new immediate social circle that consists of Dina (Isabela Merced) and Jesse (Young Mazino). Our series protagonists are not the only ones to have experienced some level of change in those five years. Joel's brother, Tommy Miller (Gabriel Luna), and his wife Maria (Rutina Wesley), have welcomed a son, Benjamin, into the world, for example. As we know, the arrival of little ones changes everything, and that applies to Tommy and Maria as well.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Who is Eugene and What Happened to Him?
Image
HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 dives deeper into the post-apocalyptic world we first explored in the hit game and its debut season. The show keeps pulling us into the lives of Joel and Ellie, now settled in Jackson, Wyoming, where new faces and old wounds shape their journey. Among the fresh characters, Eugene stands out, stirring up emotions and questions about the past, tying directly to the community’s fragile peace.

This season, the story expands beyond the game’s framework, much like the beloved Bill and Frank episode from Season 1. We meet people who add layers to Joel and Ellie’s struggles, with Eugene’s fate sparking tension that hits close to home. The showrunners weave in familiar elements from ‘The Last of Us Part II’ while crafting bold new arcs, keeping us hooked on what’s next for our favorite survivors.

The Last of Us Season 2 Cast and Their Salaries in Hollywood
Image
Okay, real talk—The Last of Us Season 1 didn’t just hit us in the feels; it flat-out ambushed our emotional well-being. One minute we were vibing with Joel and Ellie, and the next, we were questioning every ounce of morality we thought we had. And now, as Season 2 creeps around the corner like a clicker in the dark, all eyes are on two things: what’s next in this brutal saga… and what’s in the stars’ wallets.

Well, Pedro Pascal’s back with his daddy vibes dialed to eleven, Bella Ramsey’s bringing the sass and scars, and the tension? They’re higher than a giraffe in Salt Lake City. But hey, it’s the cast salaries that are raising eyebrows. So, if you’ve ever wondered what surviving the apocalypse pays, buckle up.

Chris Pratt's The Terminal List Recruits The Last of Us Star for Season 2
Image
Some know him as the Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes; some know him as Rev-9; some know him as Tommy Miller. For fans who watched The Terminal List on Prime Video, they'll see him popping up next to MCU and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt.

Gabriel Luna, following what will surely be anything but a gut-wrenching season of The Last of Us, will be ditching the post-apocalypse setting for an action crime thriller. He is the latest confirmed cast member for Season 2 of the Prime Video series.

About The Terminal List

The Terminal List follows Lieutenant Commander James Reece (Pratt), a U.S. Navy Seal, who, when on a covert mission, his Seal platoon is attacked, leaving him as the sole survivor. Gabriel Luna to play fan-favorite character Freddy Strain opposite Chris Pratt in Season 2 of The Terminal List
Image
Prime Video‘s The Terminal List is adding another star to its upcoming season, with Gabriel Luna set to play the fan-favorite character Freddy Strain. Luna joins Chris Pratt, who plays Navy Seal James Reece, in the adaptation of Jack Carr’s novel. The sophomore season takes inspiration from Carr’s True Believer novel, the second in the James Reece book series.

Based on the best-selling novel by Jack Carr, The Terminal List follows James Reece (Chris Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. Reece returns home to his family with conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering his life and the lives of those he loves.

As I’d said, Luna will play Freddy Strain for The Terminal List Season 2. According to the character’s description,...

The Terminal List Season 2 is finally gaining traction, and Chris Pratt won't be a lone wolf the second time around. The hit Prime Video action drama, which is based on Jack Carr's best-selling book series of the same name, has added another TV actor who recently received acclaim for his role in HBO's Emmy-winning video game adaptation, The Last of Us.

Gabriel Luna, who plays Tommy in The Last of Us, has joined Pratt in Season 2 of The Terminal List. He will have a recurring role as Freddy Strain, the Seal Team 6 Senior Chief and current officer with CIA’s Ground Branch. Gabriel Luna Dishes On Ghost Rider's Possible Return in the MCU
Image
As a former star of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., actor Gabriel Luna is known in part for his role as the Robbie Reyes incarnation of Ghost Rider. Though the series ended in 2017, Luna is keeping the door open for a potential return, given how the expansion of the McU's multiverse makes it more possible than ever before.

At the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, Luna and The Astronuat co-star Kate Mara spoke with Grae Drake of Cbr to promote the premiere of their new film. Their past superhero roles were discussed, given how Mara also played Sue Storm in 2015's Fantastic Four movie. Luna noted how he "enjoyed" the time he spent playing Ghost Rider, but when it came to possibly revisiting the role, he always fell back on a "stock answer" about just appreciating the work he did in the past. With that said, he's making it clear he's open to revisiting Robbie Reyes.

The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 Cast – Will They Appear in The Last of Us Part 3?
Image
The Last of Us Part 3 could still be a few years off, and there is no telling where the writers will take those who survived the traumatic experience of the controversial sequel. Characters come and go, and this is something director Neil Druckmann has no issue with doing. It is evident that he has the guts to make the hard decision of killing certain characters with no clear paths or potential storylines; however, his methods are more brutal than fans expect.

With that being said, let’s take a look at every major character featured in The Last of Us and assess if they could make it into the upcoming sequel.

How The Last of Us Part 3 Can Honor Joel’s Legacy While Concluding Ellie’s Story

The Last of Us is arguably one of the most successful first-party franchises operating under the PlayStation Studios umbrella. The gaming community was seemingly blown away by what the game developers made years ago, delivering a video game that rivals the storytelling qualities of a huge blockbuster, while keeping things relatable and grounded.

The first game’s success pretty much guaranteed a sequel and in 2020, Part 2 was released. Multiple leaks before launch and a few creative choices drove a wedge between fans and the developers, but there is a way to make it all work.

Tommy should act as Joel's replacement to further develop his character in The Last of Us season 2. The Last of Us Part III? Neil Druckmann has a concept in mind for another video game
Image
Soon after the video game The Last of Us Part II was released back in 2020, series co-creator Neil Druckmann mentioned that a story had been written that would involve the Tommy Miller character – kicking off rumors that there was already an outline for a The Last of Us Part III video game. In the documentary Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II, Druckmann says that’s not accurate – but goes on to reveal that there is a concept for another game in the series.

In the documentary (which was released through YouTube), Druckmann addresses the rumors of the Tommy Miller story serving as the basis of The Last of Us Part III. He says, with thanks to our friends at Bloody Disgusting for the transcription, “The headlines across the industry were like, ‘Naughty Dog has outlined The Last of Us Part III.’ And that’s actually wrong. It would seem that The Last of Us series co-creator Neil Druckmann has an idea for one more story to tell. In the new feature-length documentary Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II, Druckmann teases that he has a concept for a third entry for the acclaimed series.

Complete The Last Of Us Season 1 Timeline (In Chronological Order)
Image
The timeline for HBO’s The Last of Us season 1 encompasses decades despite most of the action happening toward the tail-end of the story. The Last of Us is based on the Naughty Dog video game of the same name and tracks the events of a Cordyceps outbreak that begins in 2003 and wipes out most of the civilized world, turning people into brutal, violent infected. The length of time between the outbreak and Joel and Ellie’s story is a significant element of their tale. What happens at the beginning of the outbreak shapes Joel into who he is when he meets Ellie.

Ellie was born after the outbreak and only knows a world with infected. The viral outbreak happens mostly off-screen and society’s collapse occurs before Joel meets Ellie. HBO's The Last of Us flips the game's timeline, which begins in 2013 and then jumps to 2033 for the main story.

Tommy Will Experience A 'De-Evolution' In The Last Of Us Season 2

Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) have both captured the hearts of audiences with their dynamic, found family bond that lies at the center of "The Last of Us," the HBO series based on the hit video game of the same name. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are fantastic, but the show wouldn't be what it is without an amazing ensemble cast of supporting characters who quietly accentuate Joel and Ellie's transformations from hardened survivors to parent and child.

Though he only makes a few appearances in season 1, Gabriel Luna's (previously known for his underrated performance in "Terminator: Dark Fate") role as Joel's little brother, Tommy Miller, makes a huge impact. Living with the trauma of surviving with Joel in the early days of the Cordyceps pandemic and disillusionment with his time fighting alongside the Fireflies, he and his partner Maria (Rutina Wesley) created the Jackson commune. Who Plays Ellie's Mother In The Last Of Us

Warning! ‘The Last Of Us’: HBO Unveils First Look At Original Ellie Performer Ashley Johnson As Ellie’s Mother In Season 1 Finale
Image
Even amid an unrelenting apocalyptic world, life finds a way. Ahead of The Last of Us Season 1 finale, HBO released a new image featuring a pregnant and seemingly stressed-out woman named Anna. Also known as Ellie’s mother, Anna is played by acclaimed voice actor and motion capture performer Ashley Johnson, who originated the role of Ellie Williams in the video game series. In the series, Ellie is portrayed by Bella Ramsey.

Within The Last of Us lore, little is known about Anna outside of her friendship with Marlene, leader of the Fireflies, and her death soon after giving birth to Ellie, leaving behind her favorite switchblade and a personal note, which Ellie carries in her backpack. However, knowing that series showrunner Craig Mazin and creator Neil Druckmann share a penchant for expanding and differentiating from the source material, we can expect to gather more information about who Anna is...
