Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War is a three-part documentary that makes us privy to a movement that spread like wildfire in the entire United States of America. A Christian ministry named Teen Mania targeted the young minds of the nation and tried to brainwash them in the worst possible manner. A man named Ron Luce was at the helm of affairs and, with time, acquired the status of a legendary personality. He had the capability to move the masses, and he used it to push his own agendas and completely change the perception of the youth of the nation and transform them into fanatics.
What was Teen Mania?
Teen Mania was considered to be the biggest Christian youth organization ever to have existed in the United States of America, but after watching the Prime Video documentary, I can safely conclude that it was just an attempt to mobilize troops,...

How’s this for a news break?
Disney’s ad-sales team has offered potential sponsors of “What You Need to Know,” a new ABC News streaming news program made for Disney+, the chance to embed their logos between headlines that would scroll at the bottom of the screen. The idea is just one that Disney has discussed with media buyers and advertisers, according to a person familiar with the matter, part of a bid to highlight new concepts and innovations it’s willing to embrace in streaming venues.
Disney declined to make executives available for comment. But the person with knowledge of the ad outreach says the idea would allow for a sponsor’s logo to show up in a bottom-of-the-screen scroll, potentially after every three or four headlines.
“What You Need to Know” isn’t the typical TV-news program. It’s aimed at streaming audiences, and is anchored by James Longman and Rachel Scott.

When Disney+ launched in 2019, the streaming service featured segments from existing ABC News programming like “Good Morning America” and “Nightline.”
As consumers increasingly cut the cord from linear TV, the 24/7 streaming channel ABC News Live was integrated into Disney+ in September as part of its “Streams” offering. Now, Disney+ is doubling down on its ABC News streaming bet with “What You Need to Know,” a short-form, daily news show exclusively made for the service.
Hosted by Rachel Scott and James Longman from New York, London, Washington D.C. and beyond, the program will cover everything from breaking news to entertainment buzz and viral videos. Episodes will range from six to 10 minutes long and will be available on-demand for 24 hours before refreshing with the next day’s news and headlines, with plans to reduce the time between refreshes over time.

Following today’s announcement that Eva Pilgrim would be exiting as co-anchor of “GMA3” to join the CBS Media Ventures distributed “Inside Edition” as the newsmagazine’s new anchor in the fall, ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic announced in an internal memo that co-anchor DeMarco Morgan would also be departing the news program and the network altogether.
“He has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News,” said Karamehmedovic in a memo to staffers.
The departure of Morgan and Pilgrim confirms earlier reports that the network was seeking a change in front of the camera for the struggling third hour of “Good Morning America,” with sources telling the New York Post, “‘GMA3’ won’t be there at the end of the summer,” though it’s likely they meant the anchors of the program rather than the program itself.

ABC News is gearing up to reboot its Good Morning America offshoot GMA3 once again.
ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic told staff Monday that DeMarco Morgan, the co-host of the show, “has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News,” according to a memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.
“His devotion to journalism and sharing with others is evident in everything he touches,” Karamehmedovic added. “We thank him for his kindness and many contributions, wish him well, and look forward to celebrating his next chapter soon.”
Morgan had been the co-host of GMA3 alongside Eva Pilgrim.
Earlier on Monday, Pilgrim was announced as the new anchor of Inside Edition, the syndicated CBS newsmagazine. And last year Dr. Jen Ashton, who had been a co-host of the show since 2020, exited ABC to launch a health and wellness brand.

It’s time for a fourth grouping of anchors at ABC News’ “GMA3.”
The Disney-backed news outlet is overhauling — yet again — the anchor lineup for the afternoon hour, this time likely giving more air time to various anchors and correspondents from “Good Morning America,” including weekend hosts such as Gio Benitez orthe weekday broadcast’s Ginger Zee. On Monday, current co-anchor Eva Pilgrim announced a move to CBS’ “Inside Edition,” while ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic told staffers in a memo that her on-screen colleague, DeMarco Morgan, was leaving the show and the company.
“He has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News,” the executive said in his memo. The exits of Morgan and Pilgrim were previously reported by the media newsletter Status.
“GMA3” was in recent months placed under the aegis of “Good Morning America” senior executive producer Simone Swink, and its production staff was trimmed.

War can seem like an overwhelming topic. The victors rewrite conflicts, human lives are reduced to statistics, and conclusions are taken at face value.
So what happens when we zoom in? We start to see the inner workings of the military, a system comprising a group of individual humans doing their best to work as a unified front. We start to understand the way a soldier thinks. We start to understand why a nation's government might want to battle another nation's government. And we start to reckon with the moral grays of war, the blurring of boundaries leading to the blurring of ethics in ways both micro and macro, especially in our post-9/11 conflicts.
On television, these ideas have become prevalent in the 21st century through different sub-genres, attitudes, and levels of self-reflection. If all of this interests you as a viewer, then look no further as we discover the...

While accepting a Gracie award for her work on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Molly McNearney took the opportunity to directly address the pressure women often face to look perfect.
“I’m not saying this for sympathy. Jesus, do not give me sympathy,” McNearney said Tuesday night at the 50th annual Gracie Awards held at The Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel. “You might be feeling the same [insecurity] right now, and I need us to realize together — close your ears — it doesn’t fucking matter! A chorus line of past presidents from past years showed up via old video to give an edited mash-up speech, but there was no current Potus, no VP, no roast by a comedian and few Hollywood power players at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight in Washington DC.
Yet, with Donald Trump still yet to make his Whcd debut as president, White House Correspondents’ Association president Eugene Daniels had no intention of burying the lede Saturday of the barricades up between the current White House and institutional media in America. “We journalists are a lot of things,“ Daniels exclaimed to a standing ovation in his First Amendment celebrating closing remarks on this 96th day of Trump 2.0. “What we are not is the opposition. What we are not is the enemy of the people, and what we are not is the enemy of the state.”

In a big promotion for one of its rising stars, ABC News has named Rachel Scott senior political correspondent, covering both President Trump’s White House and Congress.
The promotion for Scott comes as ABC News sets its D.C. coverage, joining other networks in shifting some on-air talent around in connection with the new administration.
Scott previously served as ABC’s senior congressional correspondent (she was on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6, 2021), and was ABC’s lead correspondent covering the Trump campaign over the past year. She led coverage of the assassination attempt on Trump’s life in Pennsylvania, and also had the newsmaking interview with Trump at last year’s National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago.

With a new showrunner at the helm, Hilarie Burton-Morgan is looking forward to a potential return to One Tree Hill.
After she and Sophia Bush confirmed they’re working on a reboot of their hit WB/CW teen soap, the actress praised their writer and executive producer Becky Hartman Edwards as they develop the followup together.
“Our showrunner, Becky Hartman Edwards, is so good at female friendships and multi-generational shows, and that’s why we were so excited to team up with her,” Burton-Morgan told People. “So I feel very confident in what’s being presented.”
One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn, who served as executive producer and showrunner on the original series, has no involvement in the sequel. In 2017, a number of Oth female cast and crew members, including Bush and Burton, spoke out, accusing him of sexual harassment. The new series...

With One Tree Hill making its long-awaited return, Sophia Bush is in the process of reconnecting with Brooke Davis.
After Deadline reported in August that a sequel to the WB/CW series is in the works at Netflix, led by Bush and co-star Hilarie Burton Morgan, the actress explained that they’re still in the process of redeveloping their characters after the 2012 series finale.
“It’s unfortunate when development news leaks early. That was a bit of a bummer for us, because we wanted to get it across the finish line and then have a party,” Bush told Access.
Returning as an executive producer with Burton Morgan, Bush raved that the process of developing the series has been “really incredible.”
“The fans have kept that show alive, and they’ve asked for it for so long, and the studio came to us about,” she continued. “I think 10 years ago, I...

Chad Michael Murray fully supports a One Tree Hill sequel series. The actor, who starred on the popular CW series until its sixth season, recently shared that he hopes a follow-up series transpires for the sake of the show's dedicated fans. Plans for a One Tree Hill continuation were announced in August, with Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush confirmed to return.
But during a conversation with Deadline, Murray shared how happy he is about the series in whatever form and combination of characters old and new comes to be:
"I really want some iteration of this show to come back for the fans. I'll tell you, whatever iteration of the show comes forward, I want that for the fans. There's such a brotherhood and a bond between so many people all around the world with us. I'm grateful for that."

Rhona Mitra was the star of TNT action drama The Last Ship from 2014-2015 before dropping out of the spotlight for several years, but now the British actress is poised to make a comeback with four upcoming movies. In the early and mid-'00s, Mitra bounced between television and film, appearing opposite Kevin Bacon in Hollow Man before joining the ensemble cast led by James Spader and William Shatner in the early seasons of Boston Legal, and playing the ancestor of Selene in the Underworld franchise.
She starred in the action-heavy sci-fi thriller Doomsday, about zombie hordes taking over the Earth, and joined Mark Wahlberg for The Shooter. Known for her commanding screen presence, in the post-apocalyptic series The Last Ship, Mitra played Dr. Rachel Scott, a beloved character who abruptly left the series after being formative in trying to find a cure for the mainland virus in its first two seasons.

Can you believe it’s been 12 years since One Tree Hill came to an end? This series had us feel all the emotions, and it’s still one that we want to rewatch.
The series itself has become clouded with darkness as secrets about the series have come out. Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Bethany Joy Lenz have all talked about some of the treatment they faced while on the series thanks to showrunner Mark Schwahn.
Admittedly, with the darker past, it made us wonder whether a One Tree Hill revival could ever happen. Well, put it in the right hands, and it can.

Former President Donald Trump said he would no longer take part in a planned debate between presidential candidates that had been slated for Sept. 10 on ABC, and instead pitched the concept of a new stand-off hosted by Fox News Channel on Sept. 4.
The ABC debate had been agreed to by both the Trump campaign and the campaign for President Joe Biden. Biden exited the 2024 presidential race in July, and Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democratic nominee. She had committed to keep the ABC debate in place. And she was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said. “I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black.” He continued, “I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn and she became Black. Somebody should look into that,...

Houston — Addressing a cavernous auditorium filled with thousands of Black women decked out in royal blue and gold — the colors of Sigma Gamma Rho, a historically Black sorority holding its biennial celebration in Houston on Wednesday — Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged the ugly, unhinged rant that former President Donald Trump delivered hours earlier at the National Association of Black Journalists’ convention in Chicago.
During a panel discussion moderated by a trio of female reporters, Trump had questioned Harris’ race, suggesting she “turned” Black as a matter of political convenience.

Kamala Harris said that Donald Trump’s remarks before the National Association of Black Journalists on Wednesday were the “same old show,” calling him out for being divisive and disrespectful as he answered questions from three moderators.
But Harris, in remarks to an international gathering of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority in Houston, did not specifically call out Trump’s questioning of her racial identity, as he falsely claimed that only recently did she become “a Black person.”
“It was the same old show, the divisiveness and the disrespect,” Harris said of Trump’s appearance at the Nabj convention. “And let me just say: The American people deserve better…The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth, a leader who does not respond with hostility and anger when confronted with the facts. We deserve a leader who understands that our differences do not divide us. They are an essential source of our strength.

Updated: Donald Trump lit a firestorm from comments he made at a combative appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists, as he questioned whether his Democratic rival Kamala Harris was really Black.
“I’ve known her for a long time indirectly, directly, very much,” Trump said. “And she was always of Indian heritage and she was promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian, or is she Black?”
His comments quickly drew condemnation, including from White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who called them “repulsive.” But he doubled down on them in a later posting on Truth Social, writing that “Crazy Kamala is saying she’s Indian, not Black. This is a big deal. Stone cold phony. She uses everybody,...

President Donald Trump went on the attack while appearing onstage at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago in a contentious appearance that quickly went off the rails and saw the candidate repeating lies about his past policy toward Black communities and questioning Vice President Kamala Harris’ identity as a Black woman.
“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said from the stage at the Chicago Hilton. “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?

Former President Donald Trump’s appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists generated controversy as soon as it was announced — and went off the rails just as quickly once it started.
Trump was more than an hour late to the Q&a alongside ABC News congressional correspondent Rachel Scott, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner, and Semafor political reporter Kadia Goba. According to HuffPost, the delay was caused — at least in part — by a backstage “standoff” between Trump and Nabj organizers over the use of live fact-checking during the panel.
