Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris (“Shriek”) and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage.

Exclusive: Chinese-American actor and rapper Victor Ma will star alongside Colin Firth in STXfilms and Tencent Pictures’ action comedy tentatively titled New York Will Eat You Alive.

We first told you about the movie last November, which is based on Jia Haibo’s Tencent digital comic book Zombie Brother. In the film, Ma will star as Bai, a successful biotech engineer who has to lead his group of friends across a New York City overrun with zombies in order to save the world.

STX is releasing the Todd Strauss-Schulson directed film in the U.S. and UK and through its foreign output partners with Tencent distributing in China.

The release of “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” has been delayed one week from Sept. 17 to Sept. 24.

The sequel, which stars Tom Hardy, was most recently pushed to September from June 25 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The one-week delay of “Venom 2” means that the movie will no longer premiere on the same day as murder mystery “Death of the Nile” and the animated children’s film “The Boss Baby: Family Business.” Other films opening on Sept. 24 include “Dear Evan Hansen” and “The Sopranos” prequel film “The Many Saints of Newark.”

However, its late September release date will still ensure the film has ample space between other big names like James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” on Aug. 6 and Denis Villeneuve’s long-awaited “Dune” on Oct. 1.

Tencent Pictures and Hong Kong-listed e-book platform China Literature were both established in 2015. “Isn’t It Romantic” and “Finals Girls” director Todd Strauss-Schulson in talks to direct “Zombie Brother,” an action-comedy from Stx Films and China-based Tencent Pictures.

The film is an adaptation of Tencent’s digital comic book of the same name, which has garnered more than 24 billion views over 241 episodes. “Zombie Brother” has already been adapted into an animated series that has attracted more than 3.7 billion views across its first two seasons, as well as a stage play.

“Todd is the perfect choice for ‘Zombie Brother.’ His films thrive with a heart, energy, comic pace and visual inventiveness all their own,” said Stx Films chairman Adam Fogelson.

A presentation at the Shanghai International Film Festival on Sunday shed light on the welter of propaganda films that will compete with Hollywood blockbusters for the attention of Chinese cinema goers in the second half of this year.

This year is laden with political significance for China’s ruling Communist Party. It is 100 years since the May Fourth movement in which students led protests against foreign colonial powers in China. In October China will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

China’s Tencent is teaming with Paramount on Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, and next year’s Top Gun sequel.

Tencent Pictures is acting as an investor and co-marketing partner on the two films with the Transformers origin story set for release on December 21 in the U.S. and January 4 in the Middle Kingdom.

It is the latest Hollywood investments from the Chinese firm, which has previously collaborated on Warcraft, Kong: Skull Island, Wonder Woman, La La Land, Ready Player One and Venom. The latter has scored an extended run in China after grossing $263.6M locally.

James Cameron and Tim Miller's Terminator reboot is coming in November 2019. Here's everything you need to know.

Terminator: Dark Fate is the next installment in the time-traveling cyborg franchise, and it's not what you were expecting.

Franchise creator James Cameron has recruited Deadpool director Tim Miller "to direct a reboot, a conclusion" to the Terminator franchise, with Cameron acting as a "godfather." This is a loaded term, which hopefully is code for creative consultant as much as executive producer.

The previous franchise installment, Terminator Genisys has been terminated from the timeline (sorry), as has the two films and television series before that.
