A new version of RuPaul’s Drag Race is coming to the Netherlands later this year via format owner World Of Wonder, broadcaster Rtl and Dutch firm Vincent TV. Drag Race Holland (8×60’) will feature ten Dutch drag queens who take part in weekly challenges where the bottom two face-off against each other in a lip-synch battle for a chance to remain in the competition. Judges and guest judge line-up will be announced in due course. Viewers in the Netherlands will be able to watch the series on RTLs SVoD platform Videoland and it will also show on World of Wonder-owned and operated SVoD platform, Wow Presents Plus. HBO Asia Makes Sci-Fi Debut With ‘Dream Raider’

HBO Asia has set “Dream Raider” as its first original sci-fi commission. The show is an 8-episode Mandarin language series, produced in Taiwan.

Set in the near future, “Dream Raider” features a misfit team of scientists and cops that are trying to get to the bottom of a criminal conspiracy that exploits human consciousness. The series opens with detectives investigating a case of missing girls and uncovers a mysterious cutting-edge technology that enables them to enter the dreamscapes of others in search of the truth.

Directed by Daniel Fu and Simon Hung, the series boasts a cast headed by David Wang, Vivian Hsu, Jason Wang, Weber Yang, Ellen Wu, Wu Ke-Xi (“Nina Wu”), Jun Kunimura, Aggie Hsieh, Garfield Chung, and Bella Wu.

Produced with the support of the Taipei Film Commission and the Taipei Cultural Foundation, the series is executive produced by renowned Hong Kong-based filmmaker Soi Cheang.

Taipei Film Fund unveils first five international project investments

Anthony Chen’s latest feature Wet Season and HBO Asia sci-fi series Dream Raider are among the first five projects backed by the fund.

The Taipei Film Commission (Tfc) has announced the first five projects to receive funding from its new initiative, the Taipei Film Fund, with the initial beneficiaries involving production teams from the Netherlands, France, Singapore, Austria and Hong Kong.

Launched by Taipei City’s Department of Cultural Affairs, the fund has an annual budget of around $1m (Nt$30m) to invest in international film and TV co-productions with Taiwan, with the aim of attracting more international talent to Taipei.

HBO Asia Unveils Four New Originals Series
HBO Asia, who started original productions in 2012 and has realised 15 of them so far, has announced three more Original series targeting the Southeast Asian market, and the second season of a hit Taiwanese drama.

It all happened on the first day of Filmart, the important Hong Kong International Film and TV Market, when HBO Asia CEO Jonathan Spink broke the news. Let’s see them.

On the wave of a growing interest for Chinese Science Fiction, HBO Asia will present “Dream Raider”, directed by Daniel Fu and Simon Hung and starring Starring Taiwan’s Vivian Hsu and David Wang. The series is composed of eight episodes and will follow follows a team of scientists and cops investigating a criminal conspiracy that exploits human consciousness.

Like the recent successful horror anthology ”Folklore”, “Food Lore” is an eight-part anthology, overseen by Singaporean director Eric Khoo, that explores narratives related to Asian cuisines and filmed in 8 different countries.

HBO Asia has unveiled a trio of new original series and a second season of its hit “The Teenage Psychic.” The new shows bring the number of original series commissioned and distributed by the Singapore-based offshoot of HBO to 15.

“Dream Raider” will be HBO Asia’s first Asian sci-fi drama, an eight-episode hour-long series that features a misfit team of scientists and cops trying to get to the bottom of a criminal conspiracy exploiting human consciousness. The series opens with a police officer who is investigating a case of missing girls and uncovers a mysterious technology that enables them to enter the dreamscapes of others. 2012 Spooky Movie Film Festival: Official Lineup
For their seventh annual edition, the Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival is really blowing things up!

Well, not literally. But the world’s premiere horror movie fest is expanding to over double its regular size, screening over 50 films on nine terrifying nights Oct. 10-18 at its new home, the prestigious AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The scares kick off on the 10th with the return of local fave filmmaker Richard Bates, Jr. with the feature-length version of Excision about a teenage girl obsessed with becoming a surgeon. The film co-stars John Waters, Malcolm McDowell and Traci Lords. Bates’ original short Excision on which the feature is based screened at Spooky Movie back in 2008.
