Disney has a new stage show coming to Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort called “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.”
Now we have a look at the show thanks to The Concrete Wanderer on YouTube.
Villains are caught in mirrors around the stage, with some characters coming out in physical form to perform.
The video focuses on the Magic Mirror’s song, which is catchy, but reminds me of a song from the old Disney Channel holiday specials.
It’s about 15 minutes long.
Some are complaining about the show being screen-heavy, but it’s likely the best way for Disney to get something new out quickly while controlling the costs. Meanwhile, Universal is coming at them with much more advanced shows. But Disney had to do something quickly, and they did.
Disney did cram a lot of villain representation into the show.

Walt Disney Animation had an incredible slate of films during the 1990s. The decade gave audiences timeless classics like The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, and so many more, not to mention Disney's partnership with Pixar, a collaboration that birthed Toy Story 1 & 2, and A Bug's Life. However, there was one movie released during that decade that scarily turns 25 years old today that still stands up as Disney Animation's best action film of all time.
First released on June 19, 1998, Mulan is still considered to be one of Disney's best and most influential animated films. Inspired by the legendary folklore hero Hua Mulan - Disney's Mulan follows the titular heroine as she takes her elderly father's place in the Chinese army to protect the country from the invading Huns. To avoid China's conscription laws and not bring dishonor to her family, Mulan dresses as a man, becoming the only...

Some of Disney's most iconic villains are featured in stunning Maleficent body paint cosplay. First appearing in the 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty, the conniving dark fairy was reinvented in the 2014 solo film bearing her name as a misunderstood protagonist. Maleficent proved popular with critics and audiences, spawning a sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in 2019.
Paula Mateo recently took to Instagram to share her Maleficent body paint cosplay, which features some of Disney's biggest villains.

Scar, Hades and Maleficent are getting their own prequel comics this year from Dynamite's Disney Villains series and Ursula the Sea Witch has her own prequel comic from Dark Horse. Their pasts are explored and the motives for their later treacherous behavior are examined. Likewise, some villains like Cruella De Vil have gotten the cinematic treatment where their backgrounds have been explored in films. However, there are still so many Disney villains who also deserve their own prequel comics.
These prequels help explain these villainous characters and why they appear how they do in the film versions everyone knows and loves. The Disney Villains prequel comics are a great supplemental material to the films in which they first appeared, providing information that fans have always wanted but were never given in the original. If comics publishers continue to shine a light on the backstories of beloved villains, here are...

Sneak Peek a new TV spot supporting the live-action feature "Mulan", directed by Niki Caro, based on the Chinese legend of 'Hua Mulan', starring Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li and Jet Li, opening March 27, 2020:
"...'The Huns', who are led by the ruthless 'Shan Yu', invade 'Han China' by breaching the 'Great Wall'. The Chinese emperor orders a general mobilization, with conscription notices requiring one man from each family to join the Chinese army.
"When 'Fa Mulan' hears that her elderly father 'Fa Zhou', the only man in their family and an army veteran, is once more to go to war, she becomes anxious and apprehensive due to his weakening health.
"Taking her father's old armor, she disguises herself as a man so that she can enlist instead of her parent. The family quickly learns of her departure, and Mulan's...

The final trailer for Disney’s remake of “Mulan” arrived just before Super Bowl Liv kicked off, and it offers a closer look at the reimagined villains that the Chinese heroine — played by Liu Yifei — will face off against.
In the trailer, we see Jason Scott Lee play Bori Khan, a Hun leader like the vicious Shan Yu from the original Disney animated film. But for this new villain, his invasion is far more personal, promising to take the Imperial City to avenge his father’s death. Alongside him is Xian Lang, played by legendary Chinese actress Gong Li. She is a shapeshifting witch pledged to fight alongside Bori Khan, and who tells Mulan that she will “die pretending to be something you are not.”
The trailer also shows Tzi Ma as Mulan’s father Hua Zhou, who discovers that his daughter has run off to take his place when...

In contrast to other Disney live-action remakes, this year’s Mulan reboot is expected to take a lot of liberties with the original 1998 movie. It won’t be a musical, for one, and major characters like Li Shang and Shan Yu have been replaced with new faces. Fans seem to be able to accept these alterations, but the latest news about the pic has them fuming.
In case you haven’t heard, director Niki Caro has confirmed that Mushu the dragon will definitely not be featured. Voiced by Eddie Murphy, the diminutive dragon was the breakout star of the original, with his wisecracking ways and character arc – going from gong-ringer to respected guardian of the Fa family – having always been popular with viewers. But don’t expect Mushu in the 2020 version, with Caro stating that there will be a different spiritual representation of Mulan’s ancestors in her take.

A lot happens in eighteen years. Look at Kevin Smith. While his daughter was born two years prior to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, fatherhood had only begun. Then he moved away from the View Askewniverse (with varying success), started a podcasting career, and suffered a heart attack that sparked weight loss and the overdue mending of burnt bridges. So while Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob’s (Smith) first journey to Hollywood wielded them as immature idiots with so little character development that an entire shoehorned subplot about cat burglars was added for hollow drama alongside the lowbrow antics, a more mature Smith couldn’t just go back to that well. These characters now needed to add substance to their own story.
I was skeptical when Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was announced because a majority of diehard fans probably did want more of the same: misogyny and gay jokes.

In a film culture overrun by Marvel epics, wild-stunt action flicks, and other grandiose juvenilia, it is often said that the mid-budget, script-driven movie for adults is becoming a thing of the past. But don’t tell that to Kevin Smith, whose “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” a shaggy antic throwaway that premiered Tuesday in the first of two one-night shows at 600 theaters (it will travel out after that in a 65-city road-show release), stands (sort of) as a proud exception to the rule of corporate blockbuster overkill.
It’s without doubt a script-driven movie — not just because Smith, after 25 years as a filmmaker, wouldn’t know an expressive (or well-lit) camera angle if it bit him, but because he remains, in his rowdy stoner never-made-a-dick-joke-he-didn’t-like way, a furiously flowing wordsmith, one who can write the kind of spontaneous sick-comedy monologues that heat up the screen. The budget for...

We're sad to report that American actor Miguel Ferrer has died at the age of 61.
One of America's great character actors, Miguel Ferrer has died at the age of 61, we're sorry to announce. Many will remember him for his signature turn as Bob Morton in the 1987 classic RoboCop: the slick, ambitious Ocp executive who creates the film's title law enforcer and inadvertently gets on the wrong side of the villainous Dick Jones (Ronny Cox).
That film was but one stand-out in an immensely busy career: through the 1980s, brief roles in such shows as Magnum Pi and Cagney & Lacey eventually led to his recurring part as FBI agent Albert Rosenfield in David Lynch's brilliantly surreal thriller series, Twin Peaks. Ferrer reprised the role in Lynch's 1992 film spin-off Fire Walk With Me, and returned once again as Rosenfeld in the first episode of the Twin Peaks revival series.

Miguel Ferrer, a veteran actor who has played NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger on “NCIS: Los Angeles” since 2012, died Thursday of cancer at the age of 61. Ferrer began his career in the early ’80s with a series of bit parts, and as it evolved, he became known mainly for villainous roles, such as his portrayal of “RoboCop” designer Bob Morton in the 1987 action film and his voicing of Hun leader Shan Yu in 1998’s animated film “Mulan.” He also entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing the U.S. vice president in 2013’s “Iron Man 3.” He played FBI man Albert.

Disney
There have been fifty-three animated features in the official Disney animated features list, not including Pixar cartoons and any movies released under the many other studios and brands owned or run by Disney over the years. Fifty-three movies in nearly eighty years, and so many Disney Villains, sometimes more than one in a single movie.
Disney Villains can fall into typecasting, just as any well-established character type can: that’s certainly what happened with villains like Hades in the Hercules movie, who (despite the wit in James Woods’ voice performance) was the most cliched Disney Villain in years.
But there are many other Disney Villains who managed to avoid the pitfalls of becoming a stale, boring stereotype: who were scarier, or nastier, or weirder, or, frankly, darker and more disturbing than they had any right to be, in a cartoon for children.
