‘Expiration Date’: Syfy, Tongal, Wattpad Digital Pilot Contest Has A Winner
Syfy, Tongal and Wattpad’s Story To Screen – A Digital Pilot Project contest has picked a winner. Kristen Brancaccio has been selected by fans to adapt Mikaela Bender’s viral sci-fi thriller Expiration Date for the screen. Brancaccio won the contest with her short Resistance, which puts a high-stakes spy thriller spin on the concept.

The contest, announced in July, allowed fans to vote on their favorite take on the story from three different trailers by different filmmakers, with the biggest vote-getter landing a chance to make a full digital pilot.

Created by Bender (Expiration Date Duology), Expiration Date was one of the most popular sci-fi stories on Wattpad in 2016 and 2017, with more than 16 million reads to date. The sci-fi thriller is set in a future where all members of society are given a certain amount of time to live at birth — represented by an imprint in their arms (think...

Matt Damon sorry for offending with Project Greenlight diversity comments
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in Project Greenlight (2001)
Matt Damon has apologised for offence caused by controversial statements he made about diversity in his show Project Greenlight.

The star said that they were "part of a much broader conversation about diversity in Hollywood".

The show, which sees Damon and Ben Affleck give a filmmaker the opportunity to direct a $3 million feature film, drew attention because of comments Damon made to Dear White People producer Effie Brown, who was advising on the programme.

Brown then asks other panelists to take into consideration how they treat the lead character in the movie, who is a black prostitute.

"I just would want to urge people, whoever this director is,...
