Crime dramas might be the most popular genre in all of entertainment right now, especially if you include "true crime" in that distinction, and Americans really love their stories about bad guys almost getting away with it. All of the most popular streamers have sunk unbelievable money into these projects, either by adapting true stories or hiring talented screenwriters to weave tales of harrowing complexity and tabloid scandal alike. While people have been getting their thrills seeing Damson Idris in "F1" lately, his biggest star-making turn so far has been on a critically acclaimed TV crime drama with "Snowfall." Although this show has concluded, fans who missed out the first time might want to uncover what was going on with the Hulu favorite if they're looking for a new crime obsession.

George Clooney is headed back to television…just not the way you think.
Unlike former co-star Noah Wyle’s return to the medical procedural genre with “The Pitt,” Clooney will be taking to the small screen via The Great White Way. For the last few months, he’s been performing at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre in a theatrical adaptation of his 2005 Oscar-nominated biopic “Good Night and Good Luck.” Now he’ll bring that story back to the place it first started: on television.
Airing Saturday, June 7 on CNN, CNN will air a live performance of “Good Night and Good Luck” in what will be the Broadway show’s penultimate performance. It’s also the first time in Broadway history a play has been televised live.
As per The New York Times, the play will be preceded and followed by coverage and discussion around the show, it’s history, and the current state of journalism.

There are moments in Good Night, and Good Luck, the new play by George Clooney and Grant Heslov opening on Broadway tonight at the Winter Garden Theatre and starring Clooney as pioneering TV journalist Edward R. Murrow, when the anti-authoritarian passions of all three men are made very clear. Anti-McCarthyism in Murrow’s case, anti-Trumpism for Clooney and, one presumes, Heslow. Unfortunately, more often than not, that clarity comes through speechifying, minor-key tirades and copious use of ’50s-era TV clips that make plain the all-too-obvious parallels between then and now.
We know when, in history and in the play, the inevitable “Have you no sense of decency?” will arrive to put Senator Joseph McCarthy out of America’s misery. When, the play not so subtly wonders, will Donald Trump face the same path?

FX's Snowfall spinoff is officially moving forward. The original Snowfall series, which ran from 2017 to 2023, explored the rise of the crack cocaine epidemic in 1980s Los Angeles. Created by the late John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron, Snowfall followed Franklin Saint’s (Damson Idris) journey into a burgeoning drug kingpin as he partners with Teddy (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative. The upcoming spinoff will pick up soon after the end of the original series as recovering addict Wanda Bell-Simmons begins her career in West Coast rap in the 1990s while a violent gang war rages on.
Variety has now reported that the Snowfall spinoff has secured a pilot order from FX, marking a significant milestone in its development since it was first announced in 2023. The new series will see Snowfall star Gail Bean reprise her role as Wanda, alongside Isaiah John, who returns as her husband Leon Simmons.

When John Singleton set out to tell the story about the effects of the ’80s cocaine business on Los Angeles, he had a clear vision in mind. Dear Edward is one and done at Apple TV+.

For six seasons, FX’s Snowfall explored how the crack cocaine epidemic contributed to the destruction of a community in South Central Los Angeles. The 1980s-set drama also touched on the intersections between the unfolding drug crisis and larger societal and geopolitical issues like the Iran-Contra affair and Cold War tensions between the CIA and Kgb.
But for its final episode, which aired Wednesday night, the series, co-created by the late John Singleton, ended in some ways as it began, with Damson Idris‘ Franklin Saint walking along a palm tree-lined street.
“For all of the show’s aspirations and its geopolitical reach, it started on the street with a kid who was full of potential in a neighborhood that was just a working-class neighborhood on a summer day,” showrunner Dave Andron tells The Hollywood Reporter of ending the series on Franklin. “And we always knew that the story,...

Everyone involved with Snowfall told us that the series wouldn’t end well. No one consumed by the show’s crescendoing tension could expect anything but tragedy.
Few, if any, outlaws ever got away scot-free. And, even with the boundless capabilities of historical fiction, neither could Damson Idris’s Franklin Saint. Many Snowfall fans anticipated the series concluding with him being whisked away by the CIA, or killed at the hands of his Aunt Louie (Angela Lewis) — if not one of the many people whose lives he’d ruined en...

“Dear Edward” is now dearly departed. The Apple TV+ drama will not move forward with a second season, Variety has confirmed.
Executive producer Jason Katims is now set up at Imagine TV, but “Dear Edward” came from his deal with Apple Studios, which produced the show. Written, showrun and executive produced by Katims, the 10-episode “Dear Edward” was adapted from author Ann Napolitano’s novel about a 12-year-old boy who is the only survivor of a commercial plane crash.
Newcomer Colin O’Brien played Edward, while “Dear Edward” was also notable for its reunion between Katims and his “Friday Night Lights” star Connie Britton, who played a woman whose husband was killed on the plane. Taylor Schilling also starred as Edward’s aunt, who takes custody of the boy after he loses his parents and brother to the crash.

The Jason Katims-produced series based on the novel of the same name from Ann Napolitano, tells the story of Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien), a 12-year-old boy who survives a devastating commercial plane crash that kills every other passenger on the flight, including his family. As Edward and a diverse ensemble of others affected by the tragedy try to make sense of life after the crash, unexpected friendships, romances and communities are formed.
Dear Edward is described as a heartbreaking, life-affirming, and uplifting story about survival, resilience, connection, and the examination of what makes us human. Dear Edward,
The news from Apple isn’t good.
The iPhone maker/streamer has canceled its Jason Katims-produced drama Dear Edward, making the series about the lone survivor of a plane crash one of Apple’s few scripted shows to get the ax after a single season.
Based on the book by Ann Napolitano, the series reunited Friday Night Lights creator Katims with leading lady Connie Britton and revolved around Edward (Colin O’Brien), a young boy who was the lone survivor of a plane crash. Taylor Schilling, Amy Forsyth, Carter Hudson, Anna Uzele, Idris DeBrand, Ivan Saw, Dario Ladani Sanchez, Eva Ariel Binder and Brittany S. Hall rounded out the cast. (Britton only had a one-year deal for the show, though Katims expressed hope of continuing her story should a second season have come.)

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from tonight’s episode of FX’s Snowfall.
After nearly 6 seasons, tonight’s episode of FX’s Snowfall really hammers in the reality that the series is almost over.
Things really started feeling real after Uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph) was killed, no doubt, but since the beginning, this story revolved around Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson) who finally come face to face in episode 9 aptly titled “Sacrifice.” This was a complicated relationship that fluctuated between business partners, and friends, to mortal enemies caught up in a cat-versus-mouse game where no one is a winner.
As for the Saint family and the rest of the surviving characters who made it this far alive, there is no happy ending no matter how you slice it. Everyone was gobbled up by Los Angeles’ seedy underbelly at the height of the crack epidemic,...

Another one bites the dust in "Snowfall" season six, and for fans who have been following the show since the very beginning, it's been a long time coming for this character. Earlier this season, the '80 set crime drama - which chronicles the epic rise and fall of Franklin's (Damson Idris) drug organization during the crack epidemic in South Central Los Angeles - bid farewell to Jerome (Amin Joseph) after he was shot and killed for trying to save his wife Louie (Angela Lewis). Now, in "Snowfall"'s penultimate episode, infamous foe Teddy (Carter Hudson) has suffered his own tragic fate as his heinous actions have finally caught up to him.
As many "Snowfall" fans know, Teddy has been instrumental to Franklin's drug operation ever since the latter traded in his college textbooks for a kingpin crown in season one. The former CIA operative - who's been running an...

This article contains spoilers for “Snowfall” Season 6.
Despite the death of his character in this season of “Snowfall,” Amin Joseph’s job on the series wasn’t quite finished with that. The actor, who starred as uncle Jerome Saint, returned to the FX series to direct this week’s episode, “Ballad of the Bear.”
As “Snowfall” inches closer to the series finale, Gustavo ‘El Oso’ Zapata’s (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) important decision to choose a side takes center stage in this week’s episode. After being approached by the CIA, the DEA and the Kgb to turn on his associates, Oso must figure out whose side he’ll stand on — will he continue to stay loyal to Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) or former agent Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson)? Or will he choose to put his faith behind a third party player, Ruben, the former Cuban national with Russian heritage, working for...

“Dear Edward” star Colin O’Brien recognizes that parts of the show give closure while others leave it open-ended, as viewers reckon with the Apple TV+ drama series’ finale.
The television adaptation of Ann Napolitano’s novel by Jason Katims watches Edward Adler (O’Brien) come of age more quickly than planned when he loses his family in a plane crash and becomes the lone survivor of the tragic accident. Edward moves in with his Aunt Lacey (Taylor Schilling) and Uncle John (Carter Hudson), bonding with neighbor Shay (Eva Ariel Binder) while the adults affected by the crash connect in a grief group that meets in New York City.

It's the end of an era for "Snowfall" fans and, unfortunately, of the overall journeys of some of the series's pivotal characters.
For the past six seasons, the 1980s-set crime drama has followed the dramatic tale of ambitious drug dealer Franklin (Damson Idris) and the epic rise and fall of his drug organization during the crack epidemic in South Central Los Angeles. While we've witnessed Franklin's transformation from college-bound teenager to a ruthless kingpin, one of the biggest shocks in the gritty FX series thus far has been watching his family slowly fall apart - which, in part, has led to another heartbreaking death.
The latest major "Snowfall" character to die - following major losses like Franklin's father Alton and, most recently, his crew member Black Diamond - in the show's sixth and final season is none other than Amin Joseph's beloved Jammin' Jerome Saint, aka Uncle Jerome. In "Snowfall"'s sixth episode,...

Warning: This story contains major spoilers for Season 6, Episode 7 of “Snowfall.”
Angela Lewis opens the latest episode of FX’s “Snowfall” as a grieving widow. Her character, Louie, has lost her husband Jerome Saint (Amin Joseph). Now, the actor says that all bets are off as the series enters its final episodes.
In its final season, Louie seemingly has jumped out of fans’ favor, as her war with her nephew, Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), comes to a boil. The family feud first started in house. With Franklin’s $73 million stolen by former CIA Agent Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), he’s started to take drastic lengths — like stealing all of his aunt and uncle’s illegal inventory — to keep himself and his growing family afloat.
Because of their back-and-forth fire, Louie found herself kidnapped by Kane (DeVaughn Nixon), branded, tortured and almost at the point of being brutalized, when Jerome saved...

Exclusive: A spinoff of the hit drama series Snowfall is in early stages of development at FX, sources tell Deadline. No one would comment but we hear that, if it comes to fruition, the offshoot would potentially star Gail Bean reprising her fan-favorite Snowfall character, Wanda.
The spinoff is a continuation of the original story set in 1990s Los Angeles as South Central transitions out of the crack era into the gangster rap business, with areas heavily infested by gangs led by the Bloods and Crips. Wanda would serve as the connective tissue between the original show and the offshoot, which is expected to introduce other main characters, sources tell Deadline.
It is as yet unknown if any other characters from the original could also appear in the new show.
Malcolm Spellman will serve as executive producer and writer of the pilot. Returning executive producers include Dave Andron (co-creator of...

“Dear Edward” builds to an emotional pitch with the last grief group session in the finale episode when Edward finally meets all the adults grieving losses like his.
Jason Katims adapted the ten-episode Apple TV+ show from Ann Napolitano’s best-selling novel of the same name, which follows a young boy Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien) as he navigates the loss of his parents and brother in a plane crash that kills every passenger but him. With season finales come the question of “what’s next”? And, as TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Apple TV+ drama shows, that’s also a question that Dee Dee (Connie Britton) will have to ask herself on Dear Edward in the March 24 episode. “What’s with grief group ending after three months?” she wonders. “It’s not like we’re magically cured just because the airline is so cheap they won’t pay for more sessions.” And no, it’s not that she doesn’t have a life to get back to like other people do. “I do, I have a very full life, just Fyi,” she insists. And, as she sees it, “these people need me a lot more than I need them.” Watch the clip above for more. In the season finale, entitled “Shelter,” Lacey (Taylor Schilling) and John (Carter Hudson) search for Edward (Colin O’Brien...
