"Too Close" was a very dramatic episode. There were lots of exciting developments, and plot points that will seemingly be fleshed out into bigger storylines in the future. The main focus of the episode, the thing NBC hinged their promo on, was the surprise death of a character.
Here's the thing: it wasn't very surprising. The promo focused on the emotional reaction of Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) when he discovered who died, and that narrowed the focus to basically one character: his wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland). She was the most obvious candidate, and it turned out to be her.
The show telegraphed Monica Pascal's death
Chicago Fire executed the death scene well, and Mulroney and company gave startling performances during the final few minutes of the episode. The problem lies in the way the death was telegraphed. It was always going to be Monica Pascal, and the show never...

The following contains major spoilers from Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 13, "Born of Fire," which debuted Wednesday, Feb. 19 on NBC.
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 13, "Born of Fire" is a reminder of just how long the NBC show has been on. Its main storyline goes back to a plot idea that the writers have used several times before. One of the subplots follows the natural progression of the best TV relationships. And a bunch of references are made to past characters and events. All of it makes viewers acutely aware that this series has been full steam ahead for almost a decade and a half.
"Born of Fire" is a Violet Mikami-centric episode, because the central story is about her facing down a character she never wanted to see again. But the secondary plotline involves her, too, and her relationship or lack thereof with Sam Carver. Elsewhere, Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide...

Chicago Fire returned with a new episode on Wednesday night.
This was Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 13, Born of Fire.
Storylines that carried over included Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide getting ready to start a family and Sam Carver seeking help for his drinking problem.
Kidd isn’t ready to be pregnant, but she brought up adoption as something to explore with Severide.
The new episode began with Carver at a meeting to speak about what he was dealing with.
Now that Carver is facing his demons, could a relationship with Violet Mikami resurface later this season? Not yet. Violet spent the night with her lawyer guy.
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 13 recap
Firehouse 51 responded to a woman who needed to be rescued from a high wire at an adventure park. Severide jumped into action, and his squad saved the woman.
Later, Kidd asked him to construct a wire rescue scenario for Girls on Fire.

Chicago Fire's latest episode was a Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) showcase. The character got to develop her relationship with her lawyer boyfriend, and bolster her friendship with Novak (Jocelyn Hudon), but the most interesting aspect of "Born of Fire" was the return of a former foe.
We knew a character from Violet's past would be returning due to the synopsis, but the wording and framing of the character led us to believe that it would be Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver). After all, the character had already returned to Chicago Fire once before, and seemed to have the most intense personal history with Violet.
We were wrong. Chicago Fire writers cleverly pivoted away from Jacobs and went with a character who we largely forgot about: Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh). The character was introduced in season 12, two seasons after Jacobs stirred up trouble at 51.
Jared Lennox was charged with negligent homicide...

Chicago Fire is back with an episode led by the Girls on Fire program. It's been a while since the program founded by Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has been given shine, but "Born of Fire" puts a fresh spin on it by bringing Kidd's husband, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), to the mix.
The episode really gets going when 51 gets called to a scene in which a woman is trapped by a zipline. Severide does some nifty moves with the zipline and is ultimately able to save the woman. The situation gives Kidd an idea, though. Upon returning to 51, Kidd asks her husband to help her come up with new Girls on Fire drills that allow students to further their firefighting education. Severide agrees.
Stellaride also discuss the adoption plans they agreed upon last episode. Kidd informs Severide that she informed Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) about their plans, while assuring...

Kara Killmer's Sylvie Brett exited in the middle of Chicago Fire season 12. Jocelyn Hudon's Lyla Novak will replace Brett on Ambulance 61 since NBC has promoted Hudon to a series regular for season 13. Lyla Novak's potential for unique storylines and her dynamic with Violet Mikami make her status in Chicago Fire season 13 exciting.
Multiple Chicago Fire cast members left the show during season 12, and while it's sad to see them go, it's also exciting to learn who their replacement will be. The NBC procedural drama television series, created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, premiered in October 2012 and has been one of the network's most successful shows ever since. Chicago Fire has lasted for 12 seasons, with season 13 on the way, and when any series runs for that long, the makeup of the cast is bound to change. That has certainly been true for Chicago Fire, especially during season 12.

It’s great news for the actress who plays the new paramedic on Chicago Fire.
When actress Kara Killmer left the show, the producers had to find a replacement for Paramedic In Charge Sylvie Brett.
Violet Mikami (played by Hanako Greensmith) became the Pic after Brett left. But she needed a new partner.
The first new partner for Violet was Jared Lennox (played by Wesam Keesh). Lennox clashed with the people of Firehouse 51.
After Chief Boden sent Lennox packing, a floater named Lizzy Novak was paired with Violet.
Initially hesitant about Lizzy, Violet felt she was a bad fit, but the Pic changed her mind after several important calls.

The Chicago Fire hiatus ended Wednesday night with a new episode called The Wrong Guy.
Paramedic Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) was introduced in the previous episode as the new partner for Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith).
Novak stepped in after Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) sent Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) packing. Lennox didn’t fit at Firehouse 51, as the team sought a replacement for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).
Violet wasn’t sure about Novak at first, but she was won over by Novak’s skills in the field and outgoing personality.
Rome Flynn has also departed from the Chicago Fire cast. He played firefighter Jake Gibson, the character replacing Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).
More casting changes are in store this season, so be ready One Chicago fans.

The Chicago Fire cast has added another new face for Season 12.
It’s already been a season of change at Firehouse 51, and that continues with the next new episode.
Exits are happening frequently this season, beginning with Firefighter Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) leaving Chicago in the season premiere.
Paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) married Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and then moved to Portland. Her exit was a tough one for the fans.
New Paramedic Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) dropped in for two episodes but wasn’t a good fit at the firehouse. Chief Boden sent him packing – a decision that could lead to repercussions later.
A new episode of Chicago Fire introduced another new paramedic. But she might stick around for a while, especially since Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) took a liking to her.

The Chicago Fire cast has revealed a new actress joining the show for Season 12.
Presumably, this new person could wind up as the partner to Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith).
Losing Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) has been difficult for Firehouse 51. Her replacement was shoehorned into the firehouse by the new paramedic chief.
It turned out that Chief Robinson was trying to send a message to the firehouse and Chief Boden and that she wanted to replace the “old guard” in Chicago.
Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) surfaced as Violet’s new partner and frequently questioned her medical choices in the field.
The situation between Lennox and Violet escalated to the point where he reported her as being “aggressive” and “disrespectful” on the job.
When Boden pushed Lennox out of the firehouse, Robinson showed up to give him a piece of her mind. And now it means a new paramedic for Firehouse 51 again.

Lennox is definitely not a good fit for Firehouse 51 and with Boden kicking him out of the firehouse, Chicago Fire is ready to replace the character played by Wesam Keesh. Deadline reveals that Jocelyn Hudon has been cast as a new paramedic to occupy the current spot at the ambulance. Details about her character have not been revealed yet but she will be appearing in a recurring capacity with an option for a series regular. Chicago Fire introduced a new paramedic during the latest episode. It has already caused drama at Firehouse 51.
It was clear that things would get tricky after Sylvie Brett left the job, but the new Paramedic In Charge, Violet Mikami, couldn’t find a rhythm with the new person sitting next to her in Ambulance 61.
Wesam Keesh has joined the Chicago Fire cast as Jared Lennox. The character seems to know his stuff but also has a penitent for asking questions at the wrong time.
During one call, Lennox let the wife of their patient know that Violet was new to the job. It caused the woman to question Violet’s abilities.
Violet appeared very stressed that Lennox was undermining her, and when she chastised him about it later, she also told Lennox he had received his second strike on the job.

The following contains major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 12, Episode 7, "Red Flag," which debuted Wednesday, March 20 on NBC.
In many TV seasons, there's an episode that exists largely to complete the bigger picture. These episodes push along the overarching plot and character arcs but don't have anything memorable happening in them. The "filler episode" can still be great even if it doesn't stick in the viewer's mind, though, and that's the case with Chicago Fire Season 12, Episode 7, "Red Flag." It’s hard to imagine Ambulance 61 without Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) after she’s been a staple there since Season 3. Last week’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime” episode ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger: Task force member Jet Slootmaeker (Ainsley Seiger) was violently abducted by her target Seamus O’Meara (Michael Malarkey) after blowing her cover. We last saw her unarmed and in the trunk of his car as her colleagues desperately tried to find her.
Her boss, Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), tried to tell Jet she was getting too close to Seamus, but Jet convinced her to let her back into the field, where it all went disastrously wrong.
Seiger spoke to TheWrap before the conclusion of the two-parter about why Jet blames herself and how much she loved filming the two episodes. “I had the time of my life getting thrown into that trunk. It was so much fun,” she said of getting to do her own stunts.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is going to be putting a focus on more than just Elliot Stabler.
Danielle Mone Truitt, who plays Sergeant Anyanna Bell, shared how Season 3 will have her tough cop put through a nasty personal fight to save her marriage.
That will lead her to lean on Stabler for support as they try to focus on some dangerous new crimes.
Meanwhile, Ainsley Seiger, who plays Jet Slootmaekers, indicated her hacker might also be getting into a new relationship.
This comes amid a controversial showrunner turnover that may shift the Season 3 plans.
With the new season starting, the actresses seem ready to face the challenges their Law & Order: Organized Crime cops have to handle this year.

Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) and Sebastian McClane (Robin Lord Taylor) continue to be a thorn in the Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s task force’s side when the NBC drama resumes on February 24… but not for long? After all, the season is divided into three, and we’re halfway through the second arc. Until it’s over, however, Wheatley remains a great concern, especially when it comes to Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni). But Detective Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger), with a little help from Malachi (Wesam Keesh), can handle whatever Wheatley and McClane are up to, right? Seiger previews Organized Crime‘s return and hints at the end of the current arc and beginning of the next. What are Wheatley and McClane up to in this next episode? Ainsley Seiger: What I love the most about McClane and Constantine as a character is that there’s all of this, as far as Jet is concerned,...

ABC has canceled the Shondaland legal drama “For the People” after two seasons, TheWrap has learned.
Set in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (a.k.a. “The Mother Court”), the Shondaland series centered on six talented young lawyers working on opposite sides of the law.
It first debuted as a midseason replacement last year, and has since struggled to gain a foothold in the ratings. The currently airing second season is averaging just shy of three million viewers an episode, with a 0.51 rating among adult viewers under 50, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-same-day numbers.

Shondaland drama For the People has been renewed for a second season.
The series, from creator/executive producer Paul Williams Davies, debuted March 13 as a midseason replacement in ABC’s very challenging Tuesday 10 Pm slot, which has claimed a slew of short-lived drama series, and survived. It had a somewhat rocky road before launch, with production halted in September for additional script working after Britt Robertson and Jasmin Savoy Brown were recast as the leads. They took over for the pilot’s stars Britne Oldford and Lyndon Smith, respectively.
Written by Davies, For the People is set in the Southern District of New York Federal Court, aka “The Mother Court,” and followed new lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high-profile and high-stakes cases in the country – all as their personal lives intersect.

The verdict is in — and it’s (surprisingly) good: ABC’s For the People has been renewed for Season 2.
For the People, which has struggled in the ratings, stars Britt Robertson (The Secret Circle, Life Unexpected) as Sandra Bell, a lawyer who regularly found herself in the Federal Court of New York, also known as ‘The Mother Court.”
The show’s large ensemble cast also includes Hope Davis, Ben Shenkman, Jasmin Savoy, Susannah Flood, Wesam Keesh, Rege-Jean Page, Ben Rappaport, Anna Deavere Smith and Vondie Curtis-Hall. The show’s executive-producing team included Shondaland heavy hitters Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Tom Verica.
