It explores the matter which is present in various shapes or forms, the distaste for queer men and women is rampant in society, so much so that parents also have a hard time accepting their children. Murder in Mahim gives it a spin by adding a murder to the scenario to bring forward several characters that might or might not have something to do with the crime. ‘Murder In Mahim’ 2024 Review: A Mediocre Series That Tackles Homophobia In A Subpar Manner
Image
Murder in Mahim, the book by Jerry Pinto, was popular for a reason. It was one of those books coming from an Indian author that threw light on a subject that was hardly covered by many authors back in the day. Using the book as the source material, JioCinema Original brings the audience the brand-new show Murder in Mahim, directed by Raj Acharya, released on the streaming platform on May 10th, 2024.

The series begins with the murder of a gay sex worker inside the toilet at the Mahim railway station, and the case is assigned to Shivajirao Jende. A retired journalist, Peter Fernandes, and his wife, Millie, suspect their son Sunil might be gay, are finding ways to accept it, and want to have a conversation with him. The death of the gay sex worker led to a series of murders, as each death directed the police toward the next target.

‘Murder In Mahim’ Ending Explained: Who Murdered Biral?
Image
Raj Acharya’s Murder in Mahim has been adapted from the famous novel by Jerry Pinto of the same title. Throughout the seven-episode series, we have gotten the gist of the story and how it centers around a murderer targeting people, from gay sex workers to police officers linked with them. The motive behind these killings is strong; it’s a hate crime. The series vividly portrays the harsh reality of their lives in Mumbai in 2013, where it was extremely difficult for homosexuals to survive in a society where they were constantly threatened to be exposed for simply loving someone of their own choice. Here we come across a character named Sooraj Desai, who is married to Hemali but is secretly gay. His sexual involvement with Proxy, also known as Laxman, at the Mahim station led to severe consequences when their relationship was recorded by police officers Padmat and Durra.
