  • Developed partnership with writer/director Marcellus Cox via Facebook after Marcellus messaged Stephen looking for an actor to portray Malcolm X for his short film, Rise Up. Someone sent Marcellus a YouTube clip of Stephen made years prior as the iconic human rights activist.
  • As of 2022, Stephen and writer/director Marcellus Cox have collaborated on eight short films and one feature length film - Rise Up (2014), The Motivational Experience (2014), Love (2015), The System (2016), Rolling in the Deep (2017), Living (2017), Part of Me (2018), Mickey Hardaway (2020) and its feature length version (2023).
  • Made his Sundance Film Festival debut in 2020 with Terrance Daye's short film/visual poem -Ship. It won the Short Film Jury Award for US Fiction.
