Architects Announce New Album, Unveil Single “Whiplash”: Stream
Image
Architects have announced a new album titled The Sky, The Earth & All Between, set for release on February 28th. In advance of the band’s 11th studio LP, the UK metalcore act has unveiled the new single “Whiplash.”

“Whiplash” stands as the third single from The Sky, The Earth & All Between, as previous stand-alone singles “Seeing Red” and “Curse” are part of the album’s 12-song tracklist.

The new song was produced by former Bring Me the Horizon member Jordan Fish. According to drummer Dan Searle, “‘Whiplash’ marks the beginning of a new era for Architects. It is a song that speaks of tribalism, of a deepening chasm that lies between human beings based simply on opinions and beliefs.”

He continued, “It gave us the opportunity to explore these concepts in a way that we haven’t before and for the first time in a while it gave us fuel to write something truly ferocious.

What Happened To The Cast Of Stargate Sg-1?
Image
What do you do when the last spinoff of your favorite Canadian sci-fi show ended ages ago and you've worn out your DVD box set rewatching it? If you're as obsessive as I am about my favorite franchises, you might just want to catch up with all the show's stars in their most recent projects. Luckily, when it comes to the cast of "Stargate Sg-1," there are plenty of great post-series movies and shows to choose from.

The long-running "Stargate" saga, based on Roland Emmerich's 1994 movie, has fizzled out a bit in recent years, due in part to apparently complicated rights issues. At its height, the franchise included several TV shows and movies, plus novels, comic books, games, and a web series. None of them were quite as beloved as "Stargate Sg-1," which was nominated for nine Emmys and kick-started the careers of several of its stars. Others involved...

10 Funniest Teal'c Moments In Stargate Sg-1
Image
Teal'c isn't the typical comic relief character, but many of the most hilarious moments of Stargate Sg-1 revolved around him anyway. Episodes of the beloved sci-fi series could range from campy and dramatic to lighthearted and emotional, but from time to time, it was just plain funny. Every character contributed to this in their own way, but Teal'c's contrasting gentle innocence and steadfast strength made him uniquely equipped to bring funny moments to the screen.

Teal'c, played by Christopher Judge, started Stargate Sg-1 as an alien enemy to the Sgc. However, shortly after he was introduced, Teal'c betrayed the Gua'uld, hoping that Jack O'Neill and the rest of Sg-1 could help free his people from their military enslavement. His journey after that was full of ups and downs. However, perhaps the best part of Teal'c's story was the relationship he created with each member of Sg-1. Sam Carter, Daniel Jackson,...

Watch Spiritbox and Poppy’s Bone-Crushing Performance of “Soft Spine” at Louder Than Life
Image
Spiritbox have shared a pro-shot video of their earth-shattering performance of “Soft Spine” with special guest Poppy at the recent Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky. The song highlighted a set that was a clear standout among the dozens of bands that performed at the multi-day fest.

“Soft Spine” is Spiritbox’s latest single, and it finds singer Courtney Laplante in full scream mode. During the Canadian metal act’s rain-soaked set at Louder Than Life, Laplante didn’t hold back as she delivered a crushing vocal in front of the massive crowd.

Halfway through the song, Poppy walked out onstage, having just performed her own set, and screamed her lungs out, as well. The two powerful screams then came together for the remainder of the song, whipping the crowd into a frenzy.

Poppy was one of three surprise guests during Spiritbox’s Louder Than Life set,...

Essential Viewing: 11 Joel Edgerton Movies and TV Shows You Must See
Joel Edgerton
Here at TV Fanatic, we do an excellent job of spotlighting actors who have made a name for themselves through their acting careers.

However, Joel Edgerton is on another level as the actor has taken on various roles in almost thirty years of the actor's career.

With over fifty award nominations and eleven wins, including numerous from the Australian film associations, Joel Edgerton has made a name for himself worldwide.

Starting his acting journey in Australia, Joel Edgerton was only twenty-one when he first began appearing on the small screen.

Since then, he's gone on to work with high-caliber actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Dev Patel, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Essential Viewing: 11 Olivia Munn Movies & TV Shows You Must See

Though his acting credits boast roles from all walks of writing, it's fair to say the actor prefers roles set in periods beyond the present day.

From swinging swords in Arthurian tales...

2011’s The Thing Prequel Connects Perfectly with the John Carpenter Movie
Image
Warning: The Thing spoilers jump out of nowhere in this piece!

“The last place you want to be in a storm in Antarctica is locked up with a bunch of Norwegian guys,” Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a Columbia graduate and vertebrate paleontologist, is warned as she is flown into the tundra surrounding “Thule,” the central research station in The Thing (2011). The sequestered Norse researchers have never seen John Carpenter’s claustrophobic 1982 alien invasion classic, The Thing. After all, director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and writer Eric Heisserer’s 2011 prequel is set at the Antarctic facility from which the very Thing from outer space splits at the beginning of the ‘82 film. So the newest movie, which is finding a quasi-renaissance on Netflix these days, is a translation of the prior events by Heijningen and Heisserer.

In the snowbound original film, when exploring a deserted outpost in the aftermath of an as-yet-unknown extraterrestrial disaster,...

The Prequel To John Carpenter's The Thing Is Blowing Up On Netflix For Some Reason
Image
There's a horror movie remake that's absolutely blowing up on Netflix, leaving some film fans befuddled. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.'s 2011 remake-slash-secret-prequel of John Carpenter's 1982 horror masterpiece "The Thing" is a divisive film that left most fans of the original feeling left out in the cold, but for some reason it's one of the hottest things on Netflix right now. Honestly, some folks who love Carpenter's version might find faults with any remake, but this remake allegedly had a troubled production with lots of studio meddling, and it ended up being a victim of its own marketing hype. So why is it suddenly trending on Netflix? Are new fans without all of that baggage discovering it for the first time, or are old ones finally giving it a reappraisal with the clarity of time? Or are people just confused and think it's the Carpenter version because they share the same name,...

Stargate's Canceled Spinoff Could Have Made Sg-1's Ending Better
Image
An unproduced TV movie would have been a stronger ending for Stargate Sg-1's team. Stargate Sg-1 is by now arguably even more popular than the 1994 blockbuster that inspired it. Not only did it run for ten seasons, it also spawned several other shows, including Stargate: Atlantis - which introduced Jason Momoa's Ronon Dex - and the short-lived Universe. Considering how robust the Stargate TV saga once was, this makes the fact it has been trapped in limbo for over a decade all the stranger. While there are occasional reports of a possible revival of the brand, Stargate is currently no nearer to returning to the big or small screen.

In addition to Stargate Sg-1's ten seasons, it also received two straight-to-dvd movies: 2008's The Ark Of Truth and that same year's Continuum. While it wasn't planned that way, the latter ended up being something of a finale...

John Hughes Movie Tribute Art — What’s Your Favorite John Hughes Movie?
John Hughes made some incredibly great films in his career. I’ve enjoyed every movie that he’s been a part of, and today we have a collection of fun art that pays tribute to the films he made. Some of the movies he’s made include Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck, Pretty In Pink, National Lampoon Vacation. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Weird Science, Home Alone, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, and more.

The first series of art comes from Sam Carter and they feature silhouettes of some of Hughes’ most iconic characters. The second series of art comes from artist Luke Flowers and they give us more of a cartoonish take on some of the filmmaker’s classic movies.

These are all part of Popzilla’s John Hughes tribute art show, which is taking place at Pop! Comics. You can see the entire collection of art here.
