The Occupant Review: Surviving the Wilderness of the Soul
Image
The Occupant begins with a premise familiar to global audiences: a desperate act for a loved one. Geologist Abby, portrayed by Ella Balinska, finds her life’s purpose distilled into a single, high-stakes mission. Her sister, Beth, is dying, and the only hope is an experimental treatment with a price tag that pushes Abby to the world’s edge.

She accepts a dubious mining job in the remote Georgian Taiga, a region whose stark, post-Soviet landscape serves as a potent backdrop for a story of transactional desperation. The inciting incident is swift. After finding a peculiar, valuable mineral, her transport helicopter goes down. She awakens alone, a solitary figure against the vast, unforgiving cold of the Caucasus mountains.

The setting becomes her primary antagonist, a character of immense, indifferent power. Her only connection to humanity is a disembodied voice on her radio, and the strange rock she carries hums with an unnatural energy,...

Anne Hathaway's The Hustle Surges on Amazon Prime 6 Years Later
Image
Anne Hathaway has proven to be one of the greatest actresses of her generation. She rose to fame in the Disney comedy, The Princess Diaries (2001), before taking on more serious roles in Brokeback Mountain (2005) and The Devil Wears Prada (2006). However, it was her powerful performance as a recovering addict in Rachel Getting Married (2008) that earned her first Oscar nod.

She continued to star in comedies, such as Get Smart (2008) and several rom-coms, including Bride Wars (2009), Valentine's Day, and Love & Other Drugs (both 2010). In 2012, she starred as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises and played Fantine, a sex worker dying of tuberculosis, in the musical Les Misérables, winning an Academy Award for the latter.

Hathaway reunited with Christopher Nolan for Interstellar (2014), and will once again for The Odyssey (2026), and continued to showcase her versatility in the comedy The Intern (2015), the heist movie Ocean's 8 (2018), and the romantic comedy The Idea of You (2024). However,...

Michelle Williams Muses on the Real Love Story at the Center of ‘Dying for Sex’
Image
This isn’t Michelle Williams’ first Emmys rodeo. The golden laurel has taken residence in her home since 2019, when she won for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie for portraying Tony-winning actress and dancer Gwen Verdon in the FX biographical drama Fosse/Verdon. Now she’s back in the same race for Dying for Sex, also on FX, but that doesn’t make campaigning any easier.

“I get so nervous,” Williams, 44, confesses. “It’s a lot of adrenaline and I still have to keep taking my own advice, which is to try and stay in the moment and enjoy it because it’s all over so quickly.”

Williams is nominated for her portrayal of real-life podcaster Molly Kochan, who, upon a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2015, separated from her husband of 15 years and embarked on a journey of sexual exploration that included multiple casual liaisons with a variety of male suitors.

'The Holiday' Is Getting a TV Remake After 20 Years Without Any Original Cast or Crew
Image
The hit holiday classic The Holiday is the latest in a long line of 2000s media getting a revival, as AppleTV+ has ordered a miniseries based on the 2006 hit film. Directed by Nancy Meyers, The Holiday revolves around Iris (Kate Winslet), a London newspaper columnist, and Amanda (Cameron Diaz), a Los Angeles movie trailer company owner, who exchange their houses on a whim after each suffers a heartbreak around the holidays. Amanda meets Iris’ widower brother (Jude Law) while Iris meets Miles (Jack Black), a film composer and affiliate of Amanda's ex-boyfriend.

Deadline reports that AppleTV+ is developing a limited series based on the film. It will be a reboot, taking the same premise of one woman from London and another from America trading their homes. Krissie Ducker (Sweetpea) will serve as both writer and executive producer of the series. Rob Delaney (Catastrophe) is being brought on as a consultant,...

‘The Holiday’ Limited Series Reportedly Coming to Apple TV+ & Fans Are Here for It
Image
Apple TV+ is reportedly working on a limited series inspired by the 2006 rom-com The Holiday. On August 1, The Hollywood Reporter published an article after speaking with a source with knowledge of the development. Krissie Ducker will reportedly serve as a writer and executive producer for the upcoming limited series, with production through Left Bank Pictures and consulting by Rob Delaney, per Deadline. The original movie starred Cameron Diaz (Amanda), Kate Winslet (Iris), Jude Law (Graham), and Jack Black (Miles), and was directed by Nancy Meyers. In the flick, Amanda (U.S.) and Iris (U.K.) swap locations for the holidays and wind up falling in love—Amanda with Graham, and Iris with Miles—along the way. Nancy Meyers Says Apple’s Holiday Series Is “News to Me”
Nancy Meyers
Nancy Meyers woke up on August 1 to find social media alive with headlines claiming Apple TV+ is turning her 2006 rom-com The Holiday into a six-episode limited series—and that she is not involved. She answered in an Instagram Story: “News to me. Imagine my surprise,” attaching a screenshot of the report first carried by Deadline.

According to the trade item and follow-up coverage, the streamer has tapped Sweetpea creator Krissie Ducker to write and executive-produce the project, with actor-writer Rob Delaney on the script team. Early notes indicate the show will keep the film’s house-swap premise but introduce new characters and settings rather than revisit Iris and Amanda. Apple is negotiating with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine banner to board as producer, though no deal has closed.

Meyers’ public distance from the project echoes her 2022 dismissal of sequel rumours and underscores continuing questions about creative rights when studios revive...

Apple TV+ is getting ready to bring back a familiar holiday favorite, but with a twist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer is developing a limited series based on the 2006 romantic comedy The Holiday, which was written and directed by Nancy Meyers. But Meyers herself has nothing to do with this new version, in fact, she says she didn’t even know it was happening.

“News to me,” Meyers wrote on Instagram. “Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw.”

Jude Law's $206M Romcom Classic Is Getting an Apple TV+ Series 19 Years Later

Holiday traditions are important, and many films and shows are a part of them. For many, there's no Christmas without Home Alone, but also without Love Actually, Die Hard, and The Holiday.

The latter premiered in 2006, and it came from rom-com queen Nancy Meyers, starring a star-studded cast with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black in the leading roles. Other studios believe so too because Deadline reports Apple TV+ is rebooting The Holiday into a TV series.

The Holiday followed two women, one from a remote town in the UK, and another living the life in Los Angeles, California. However, their personal lives were going terribly, and they decided to switch houses for a while,...

Image
After several years of making short films, Hugo Keijzer has made his feature directorial debut with the survival thriller The Occupant – and we’re going to have the chance to see how the film has turned out very soon! Decal Releasing will be giving The Occupant a theatrical and VOD release in the United States on August 8th, and with that date just four weeks away, a trailer has dropped online. You can check it out in the embed above.

The film had its premiere at the 2025 SXSW London Film Festival just last month, and the reactions that came out of its two screenings there were quite positive.

Keijzer wrote the screenplay with Philip Michael Howe, Roelof Jan Minneboo, and Xiao Tang, crafting a story that centers on Abby, a desperate geologist who takes a high-paying, high-risk mining job in the remote wilds of Northern Georgia to fund her sister’s experimental cancer treatment.

Jenny Slate On Emotional Journey To First Emmy Nomination For ‘Dying For Sex’: “I Knew Enough About Myself To Let It All Go”
Image
On Emmy nomination morning, Dying for Sex star Jenny Slate was working up a sweat for totally normal reasons. In speaking with Deadline, the actor, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, shared that she had forgotten about the special day once she became immersed in her daily life with her daughter in tow. It wasn’t until after a yoga mat workout that she eventually checked her phone to find “many text messages rolling in.” Slate says, “Because I’m me, my first thought was that somebody in my family had some sort of accident, but in fact it was something really good.”

Based on the successful Wondery podcast of the same name, Dying For Sex follows the story of Molly Kochan (Michelle Williams), a woman diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer who leaves her husband of 15 years to explore her sexuality.

With a total of nine Emmy nominations announced Tuesday for the FX show Dying for Sex, its star Michelle Williams told Deadline that the cast and crew group chat was blowing up. “There’s lots of fun activity on the thread. So many threads with so many women involved with this show, and so we’re enjoying ourselves over text,” she said.

Dying for Sex is written by Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock, and loosely based on the real-life story of Molly Kochlan (Williams) who leaves her husband in search of sexual pleasure following a terminal cancer diagnosis. Molly and her best friend Nikki had co-hosted a podcast based on Molly’s blog “Everything Leads to This.” The show also stars Emmy nominees Jenny Slate as Nikki and Rob Delaney as ‘Neighbor Guy’, with Jay Duplass as Molly’s husband Steve and Sissy Spacek as Molly’s mother Gail.

Six months following a well-deserved renewal, this Vince Vaughn-starrer is finally giving fans some good news. Bad Monkey, from Apple TV+, ended its remarkable first run on October 9, 2024, and two months later, it was renewed for another run, but with no word on when it will return. Michelle Williams On Why ‘Dying For Sex’ Was “A Perfect Thing”, Facing Mortality & Being “Free From Judgment”
Image
When Michelle Williams first listened to Molly Kochan’s podcast Dying for Sex, her reaction to the story of a woman choosing to begin a journey of sexual exploration after being diagnosed with terminal breast cancer took her by surprise. “This podcast was cracking me open in a way that is unusual for me,” she says. But as is the case with Williams’ selection process, it was the unsettlement that made the FX limited series adaptation so irresistible. “That’s really why you take a part, because you feel some deep connection, but also you are under the spell of its mystery and you go there to discover what it is that has moved you.”

Deadline: What was it about Molly Kochan’s journey that touched you on a personal level?

Michelle Williams: I really didn’t know at the time. I went back and I listened to it again,...
