Exclusive: Hulu has acquired exclusive U.S. rights to Let’s Start a Cult, an indie dark comedy co-written, executive produced by and starring top comic Stavros Halkias, slating it to premiere on February 4.
Directed by Ben Kitnick, the film follows an obnoxious loser who, having missed out on his cult’s long awaited ritual suicide, teams up with his bogus ex-messiah to rebuild their doomsday commune. Traveling together through middle America, the constantly-bickering duo induct a military wannabe, a mentally unstable mom, and a mysterious foreign hitchhiker into their cult… but will this family of outcasts fulfill their transcendent destiny, or decide this life might be worth living after all?

Following on from last year's search for horror screenwriters, this year's Arrow Video Frightfest has launched a second New Blood competition and is inviting applications.
In the first instance, writers should submit short synopses and log lines. Those who make the shortlist will be invited to a workshop at the festival's main event in August, where they will workshop their ideas with a group of industry experts. These include genre legend Barbara Crampton, returning from last year; God's Own Country producer Jack Tarling; Giles Edwards of Queensbury Pictures; and Jenn Wexler, who directed this year's opening film, The Ranger. Help will be provider to nurture their scripts all the way to the screen, with one of last year's, Broadcast Signal Intrusion, now in production.

Metrodome Distribution has acquired well-received Tiff drama Land Of Mine for all UK and Irish rights from sales company K5 International.
The deal was negotiated between Carl Clifton for K5 and Giles Edwards, head of acquisitions for Metrodome.
Written and directed by Martin Zandvliet (Applause), Land Of Mine is produced by Mikael Rieks for Nordisk Film Production A/S, and Malte Grunert.
The film, which was the strongest new arrival at the Danish box office last weekend, opened Toronto’s new Platform strand on Sept 10 before berths at London, Rome and Tokyo, where the film’s rising lead actors Roland Møller (A Hijacking) and Louis Hofmann (Alone in Berlin) shared the Best Actor Award.

The Hurricane Films production stars Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon as the celebrated American poet Emily Dickinson.
Jennifer Ehle (Fifty Shades Of Grey) and Keith Carradine (Nashville) co-star.
Shot in studio in Belgium and on location in and around the poet’s town of Amherst, Massachusetts, the film is in post-production with Metrodome due to release theatrically in Q3/Q4, 2016.
The biopic will chart the poet’s life from her early days as a young schoolgirl to her later years as a reclusive artist.
Dickinson wrote more than 2,000 poems in her lifetime but saw only seven published before her premature death in 1886. She never married and became increasingly reclusive as she got older.
