Jay-Z “Hate” Against Chris Brown and Tory Lanez Explained
Image
The world of hip-hop is shaken by so many controversies and feuds happening all at the same time—first, convicted rapper Tory Lanez got stabbed 14 times inside a prison, and now Chris Brown has been arrested over alleged assault inside a nightclub. But why is Jay-Z’s name being dragged into these cases?

Fans know that the famed rapper has rumored beef with Lanez and Brown, but he has insisted in the past that he has nothing to do with Lanez’s arrest (after shooting Megan Thee Stallion) or Brown getting apprehended (remember their alleged fight over Rihanna in 2009?).

Why is Jay-Z being dragged into Chris Brown’s and Tory Lanez’s issues? Chris Brown / Credits: Vevo YouTube

There is so much to unpack here, but let’s start with one post from a netizen. Fabiothebarb on Twitter claimed that “the devil works hard but jay-z works harder,” alluding to Chris Brown’s recent arrest.

Tory Lanez Legal Team Calls for Pardon After Prison Stabbing, Claims New Evidence in Shooting Case
Image
Tory Lanez’s legal team called on Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon the rapper or commute his sentence days after he was stabbed in prison this week, while further claiming to have new evidence in the rapper’s case over the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted on three firearm charges over the 2020 shooting, which left Meg, whose real name is Megan Mete, wounded with bullet fragments in her feet. Mete told the court that Peterson had shouted “dance, bitch” before shooting her. Peterson pleaded not guilty in the trial and is appealing the sentence.

During a press conference held by Peterson’s legal team, Unite The People, in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, the rapper’s father, Sunstar Peterson, said his son was airlifted to a hospital Monday to treat his injuries, but...

10 Bad Final TV Seasons That Would've Been Better With More Episodes
Image
There's nothing worse than starting a TV show, getting invested in the rich plot and characters, and having it ruined by a bad final season. Ranging from rushing through the plot to destroying a beloved character's growth in the final seasons, many TV shows fall into the trap of being ruined because of unsatisfying and terrible endings. Sudden cancellations of TV shows and cutting down on the length of the final season are often the culprits behind messy final seasons.

Given more time to flesh out character motivations and intricate plotlines, a lot of shows that suffered a lackluster final season could have been improved with a few more episodes. While the addition of episodes can't fix mischaracterization issues and terrible plot twists, they can potentially make the final season feel more coherent, maintain the storyline's quantity, and provide a meaningful resolution.

9 Best Fantasy TV Shows Made On A Low Budget
Image
There are loads of fantasy TV shows that audiences love for their stellar visual effects and high-quality production value, but there are also many other titles with a low budget that are just as great. The best fantasy TV shows of 2024 demonstrate just how much the genre has grown and changed, but these projects also highlight just how expensive they are to make. Fantasy is such a wide-ranged genre, and when wild and wacky creatures or magic are involved, a lot of behind-the-scenes work is needed.

Even the best animated fantasy TV shows ever are familiar with these struggles. Creating a particular chunk of animation, with all kinds of imagery and detailing, is a lengthy and costly process. However, money isnt everything, and making a good TV show is possible without breaking the bank. Fantasy stories are up to interpretation and rely on the imagination of others, especially for book adaptations,...

Merlins Best Character Is Also Its Most Tragic
Image
BBC's Merlin may have been concluded for over a decade, but the series still has much to offer. Focusing on Merlin (Colin Morgan), a young man hiding his magical abilities while working for Prince Arthur (Bradley James), the show is an origin story for the legendary characters. As Merlin helps Arthur become a just king and fulfill his destiny, the show introduces many names that should be familiar, from Gwen (Angel Coulby) to Uther (Anthony Head). But one is almost unrecognizable at the beginning. In Merlin, Morgana (Katie McGrath) is introduced as Uther's kind-hearted and fierce ward rather than the wicked enchantress she is based on. Morgana serves as an initial shock to the audience, proving that this wouldn't be like the other retellings and her progression continues to do that throughout the series.

10 Shows To Watch If You Liked HBO's Band Of Brothers
Image
Band of Brothers set the bar for war dramas on TV with its epic scale, intense battle sequences, and moral analysis of wartime experiences. Just like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers revolutionized the genre, bringing movie-sized production values to the small screen. From The Pacific to Chernobyl, shows like Band of Brothers continue to explore the impact of war on soldiers and civilians with gripping storytelling.

Despite the epic scale and storytelling, there are shows like Band of Brothers that manage to touch on the qualities that made it so great. HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries Band of Brothers is an expansive and enthralling World War II drama that documents the efforts of an American regiment (nicknamed 'Easy Company') and their experiences at war. Just like how the show's producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' cinematic collaboration, Saving Private Ryan, revolutionized the genre of war drama, Band of Brothers...

The Best of the Bad Guys: Damien Thorn from The Omen
Image
The episode of The Best of the Bad Guys focusing on Damien Thorn was written, narrated, and edited by Mike Holtz.

The Prince of Darkness. Heir to both Hell and Thorn Industries. The antichrist himself and guy who gets his haircut at Great Clips, Damien Thorn. The titular character of The Omen franchise will be praised not by his usual followers but by us as we dive into the second edition of The Best Of The Bad Guys, where we rank the best work of cinema’s most evil villains.

Damien Thorn’s run of evil has spanned five films including an utterly pointless shot-for-shot remake and a TV series with another prequel on the way in The First Omen. And though The Omen IV: The Awakening doesn’t follow Damien himself; his presence is felt. The franchise started in 1976 with legendary director Richard Donner giving us the first version...

How Vikings Valhalla's Jomsvikings Compare To The Real Life Versions
Image
Warning: spoilers for Vikings: Valhalla season 2.

Vikings: Valhalla introduced a new place and group of warriors: Jomsborg and the Jomsvikings, and here’s how the show’s version of these warriors compares to the real-life ones. Although Vikings: Valhalla is the sequel series of Vikings, it follows a new generation of warriors and royals as it’s set over 100 years after the main series. Still, Vikings: Valhalla has referenced the legacy of characters like Ragnar Lothbrok and Rollo, and Kattegat continues to be a main setting, but season 2 introduced a new place that could become even more important than Kattegat.

As Kattegat adapted to a new reign, Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) put a price on Leif (Sam Corlett), Harald (Leo Suter), and Freydis’ (Frida Gustavsson) heads, so Leif and Harald left to Nóvgorod while Freydis was taken to Jomsborg. While running away from Kattegat, the trio came across Jorundr...

The Real Life Harekr & Jorundr From Vikings Valhalla Explained
Image
Warning: spoilers for Vikings: Valhalla season 2

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 took Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) and viewers to Jomsborg, where she met its leader, Harekr (Bradley James), and one of its best warriors, Jorundr (Stanislav Callas), but are these two characters based on real-life people? Although Vikings: Valhalla, just like its predecessor, Vikings, is based on historical events, people, places, and more, it’s not always historically accurate, and in some cases, the show has taken names from real-life people and given them a completely new story, while other characters are a combination of different people.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continues exploring the final years of the Viking Age, and for that, it takes viewers to Jomsborg, where Jorundr takes Freydis as she’s the “last daughter of Uppsala” and “the keeper of the faith”. There she meets Harekr, the leader of Jomsborg, who isn’t as benevolent as he seems, and he soon shows his true colors,...

Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Is Bigger and Bloodier Than Ever

The Vikings: Vallhalla review is spoiler free

The first season of Vikings spin-off Vikings: Valhalla had a lot to recommend it, from its sprawling cast of major characters and nuanced exploration of the tension between politics and religion to its massive action setpieces and incredible production values. But after a first season that saw a Viking army literally bring down London Bridge, many viewers are probably wondering where on earth the second season of Valhalla could possibly go next. And the answer is: Literally everywhere.

The second season of Vikings: Valhalla is bigger and bolder in every sense of the word, from the scope of its setting and the breadth of stories it’s telling to the sheer number of characters onscreen. Merlin: 10 Memes That Perfectly Sum Up Arthur As A Character
Image
BBC's Merlin featured one of the best versions of Arthur Pendragon thanks to the electrifying performances of Bradley James and Colin Morgan. Instead of going for a typical medieval-style Arthur, BBC's Merlin went for a modernized king who was more humane and democratic with a sense of humor that humanized him more than other screen versions of the legendary king.

When Uther insisted on Arthur marrying from a royal family and only knighting nobles, Arthur went against all the rules in his bid to create a modernized version of Camelot. His failure to recognize Merlin's magical powers made him look a little dumb. His partnership with the young warlock made a powerful team that endeared him to the show's fan base though and many expressed their love for him in memes.

The two of them will begin this incredible journey. Freydís has to go to Pomerania, which is a very difficult environment.”

Netflix’s ‘The Liberator’ Puts an Artistic Spin on an Age-Old Story: TV Review
Image
There have been dozens upon dozens of wartime epics committed to the screen, but none look like “The Liberator.” I mean this quite literally: after getting stuck in a lengthy development hell at the History channel once it became clear how expensive it would be to film, “The Liberator” team made a calculated artistic choice to shift from eight live-action episodes to four animated ones that would significantly slash costs and bring a jolt of unique energy to the production. The version of “The Liberator” premiering Nov. 11 on Netflix, produced in conjunction with Trioscope Studios, reveals a striking combination of animation and live-action performance that feels like a graphic novel come to life.

The series, based on historian Alex Kershaw’s book of the same name, follows the winding path of Felix Sparks (Bradley James), an officer who led his infantry unit on a remarkably treacherous 500-day march through Europe...

‘The Liberator’: TV Review
Image
Veterans Day isn’t one of those holidays that has inspired a raft of celebratory TV episodes.

Other than a few non-fiction specials and cable blocks, the closest TV is coming to celebrating Veterans Day this year is with Netflix’s four-part The Liberator: a limited series made very watchable by the decision to use rotoscope-flavored animation, but rendered vaguely infuriating by inconsistent focus and narrative choices.

Adapted from Alex Kershaw’s book of the same title by Jeb Stuart and director Greg Jonkajtys, The Liberator is the mostly true story of Felix Sparks (Bradley James), whose World War II command ...

‘The Liberator’ Revisits World War II Through a New Lens
Image
The new Netflix miniseries The Liberator is a World War II story about brave men who bond through that terrifying experience, and who say things like, “Fear is a reaction; courage is a decision.” It is similar, in all ways but two, to dozens and dozens of filmed tales set amid that event, in particular the HBO classic Band of Brothers. But those two ways are fairly interesting, even if The Liberator doesn’t always take full advantage of them.

The first is that our heroes are members of the...

Watch: Stunning First Trailer For Netflix’s New World War II Series The Liberator
Image
Netflix has been the home to some truly unique projects, and one of the most interesting looking additions is animated World War II series The Liberator. The show is based on Alex Kershaw’s book The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey, and tells the story of Felix Sparks, a soldier from small town Arizona that ends up involved in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.

Die Hard and The Fugitive writer Jeb Stuart is the creative mind behind the ambitious small screen effort, which is set to premiere on Veteran’s Day, and the first trailer has now arrived and based on the visuals alone, The Liberator looks to be well worth checking out. The realistic animation brings to mind the rotoscoping techniques used by Richard Linklater in the likes of Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly, but set against the harrowing backdrop of World War II.
