'The Voice'€. Finale Recap: Tessanne Chin Wins, Celine Dion And Lady Gaga Among Guest Performers
The Voice’s season finale aired last night with Will Champlin and Tessanne Chin from Team Adam Levine and Jacquie Lee from Team Christina Aguilera competing for the winning title. Lady Gaga, Aloe Blacc, Celine Dion, Ne-Yo, Paramore and OneRepublic joined the contestants to perform in a star-studded finale.

The Voice Recap: Group Performances

Chin, Lee and Champlin opened the star-studded night with the rest of the Top 20 performing Outasight’s “Tonight Is The Night.” It was great seeing the rest of the contestants back, and the performance was a lot of fun.

For her Bring-Back Performance Lee brought Matthew Schuler, Caroline Pennell, James Wolpert and Cole Vosbury back to sing an entertaining — but shortened — rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The performance had the coaches rocking out in their seats.

Josh Logan, Schuler, Nic Hawk, Preston Pohl and Ray Boudreaux, some of the eliminated male contestants, came together and performed “Treasure” by Bruno Mars.

The Voice Season 5 Finale Recap: And the Winner Is… [Plus: 15 Additional Awards!]
Cee Lo, put down your Handbook of Inscrutable Song Choices. Xtina, tuck away your décolletage. Carson Daly, park the promotional Kia in the garage.

Another installment of The Voice has come to its feel-good conclusion — and all that’s left are the inevitable debates about whether Season 5′s champ will finally be the one to achieve breakout, Clarkson- or Underwood-level success and if Mark Burnett will come to his senses and go all Michonne on those blasted SwayBots between now and next spring. (Forgive them, Father, for they know not how to keep time with the music.)

The Voice Season 5 Semifinal Results Recap: Did the Right Three Singers Make the Finale?
The Voice (2011)
Who says there’s no life after The Voice?

Season 5′s Top 5 results telecast felt like an aggressive response to the blogosphere complaint that NBC’s reality-singing behemoth has yet to produce a viable chart-topper — this week’s Top 10 iTunes milestones for covers by three current semifinalists notwithstanding. (Cue Xtina rageface, followed by an indignant, “Excuse me, but I’m No. 10 on Billboard right this very second, bitches!” No, girl, we’re talking about contestants, not coaches.)

The Voice's Josh Logan Talks Supernova, Stevie Wonder and Criticism Over His 'Crazy' Cover
Michael Jackson, Sean Lennon, Brandon Quintin Adams, and Kelley Parker in Moonwalker (1988)
As a veteran of 2006′s Rock Star: Supernova, Josh Logan knows better than any of his current Voice counterparts what national TV exposure can do for the career prospects of a working musician — and how important it is to capitalize on said momentum.

“After Rock Star, I was definitely doing more high profile gigs. I was playing in Iceland. I was playing in Canada. And I was making a hell of a lot more money than before,” Logan recalls. “The problem was, I really didn’t move as quickly as I should have. I dropped the ball.”

The Voice Recap: Is That Completely True?
We are now living in a cold new world. A world in which many of our favorite Voice contestants have been eliminated. To wit: Nic Hawk is gone, Adorable Shelbie Z. has disappeared, Stephanie Anne has departed. All my favorites that I knew were too weird to stay are no longer with us! (A bunch of boring people were eliminated, too; Olivia Henken, Gray, and Amber Nicole among them.) There were also some surprise eliminations, such as Tamara Chauniece and Preston Pohl. The game has changed. And now, for those who are left.Caroline Pennell, “Wake Me Up When It’s All Over”Whoa, Caroline is looking amazing lately. I’m really impressed with the This Is the Voice stylists. They are not merely obsessed with pairing long ball gowns with jeans; they are also obsessed with making over Caroline with side bangs. For her part, Caroline gave a typical Caroline performance.

The Voice (2011)
Raise your hand if you're confused by various choices made on The Voice last night.

We'll assume your hands are up. Because, really, who would have predicted some of the people who made it through? But it wasn't America who made the head-scratching picks on the first viewer-voted eliminations of the season – it was the coaches.

Rolling Stone's Complete Coverage of 'The Voice'

First, the legal mumbo jumbo: In order to pare down the top 20 to 12, two contestants from each team were eliminated. Here’s how: The top...

The Voice Live Playoffs Results Recap: Did the Right Singers Make the Top 12?
Christina Aguilera
In the spirit of total honesty, I have to make a confession: Whenever Cee Lo Green serves up his usual blend of word salad on The Voice, my brain goes all fuzzy like an old black-and-white TV set with faulty bunny ears. (Cut to all of the show’s teenage contestants: “What do you mean by black-and-white TV set? And what does a TV have to do with bunnies?”)

But on tonight’s Live Playoffs results telecast — which whittled the Season 5 field from 20 vocalists down to a lean, mean 12 — the henna-headed, eccentric coach delivered a message that not only made sense,...

'The Voice' live blog: The Top 12 are revealed
It's a very special Thursday night episode of "The Voice," with Season 5's Top 20 about to face the music and find out which two artists from each time earned America's vote to advance to the Top 12. Who will move on and who will coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, CeeLo Green and Adam Levine use their one save on? Let's find out!

Before we can get to any results, it's time for a team performance. Taking the stage together for the first time together this season, it's Team Blake. Performing "Free Ride," these five disparate artists don't sound too terrific together. And the less said about that cheesy dance break from Nic Hawk, the better.

Time for some eliminations. First up to learn their fate is Blake's team. The first artist advancing to next week's show is Austin Jenckes, followed by Cole Vosbury. With Nic, Shelbie Z. and Ray Boudreaux left and only one save available,...

16 Best (and Worst) Moments From ‘The Voice’ Live Shows Week 1 (Guest Blog)
The Voice (2011)
Two nights and 20 performances – there’s a lot of NBC’s “The Voice” to cover this week, so let’s cut the chitchat and get to my favorite (and least favorite) moments from the live playoffs! 1. “The Voice Matrix.” “The Voice” is eating itself, you guys. Amber Nicole covered “Wasting All These Tears” from Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope, and Josh Logan performed “Crazy” directly in front of the song’s originator coach Cee Lo Green. The show is referencing itself so hard that “The Voice Matrix” is slowly coming apart at the seams. Be afraid. 2. The real winners this week.

The Voice Recap: Representing Americana
Christina Aguilera
And we’re back, everyone! Christina Aguilera and a Great Big World, “Say Something”Why is Christina performing again? What is going on? Is she blackmailing someone? Who are these anonymous “breakout song writers”? (One of them has a particularly interesting Richard Simmons thing going on.) What is Christina’s cool hat? We got no context for any of it. This song was really beautiful, though. I could imagine listening to it on a particularly self-pitying day.Amber Nicole, “Wasting All These Tears on You”Lord. Sometimes I am impressed with the depths of This Is the Voice’s marketing machine. Making poor Amber sing Cassadee Pope’s weird alt-pop-country song that was not a hit? It was a genius sort of torture. Amber is really talented, but she had serious pitch problems on much of this one (and not just that last, especially wonky, note). I was surprised! Honestly.

'The Voice' Recap: Christina Aguilera's Team Soars
The Voice (2011)
It was ladies' night on The Voice last night, as seven out of 10 performers were female when Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green went head-to-head with the second half of the top 20 artists competing for America's vote.

In the same way Adam Levine’s team dominated the first night, part two of the three-night event – which concludes on Thursday when the top 12 is revealed during a special elimination episode – found Christina's team coming out on top. ‘The Voice’: Matt Schuler Tackles Miley Cyrus, Jacquie Lee Puts A Spell On Us
While Matt Schuler came in like a wrecking ball with his performance, 16-year-old Jacquie Lee also blew everyone away! Read on to hear which acts brought down the stage … and which just brought us down!

Night two of the live performances on The Voice definitely brought on the competition! While Cee-Lo Green‘s team definitely impressed with classics, Christina Aguilera‘s team took risks by taking on the most popular songs of the year — including hits by Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus!

Team Cee-Lo Plays It Safe, Still Impresses

Amber Nicole opened the show, after Cee-Lo stole her from Team Christina, and she took on “Wasting All These Tears,” by season three winner Cassadee Pope! While Adam Levine did let her know that the one big note was a little off, he applauded her for trying something new by rocking a country song. “Country suits you,” Christina added!

'The Voice' live blog: Team Christina and Team CeeLo sing live for the first time in Season 5
On Tuesday (Nov. 5), "The Voice" continues its first week of live shows with Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green's teams taking the stage to sing live for the first time. Hoping to earn a spot in the Top 12, the ten artists must follow Monday's strong showing from Blake Shelton and Adam Levine's teams to fight for America's vote. Will your favorite artist rise to the occasion? Let's find out!

Before any of the finalists can take the stage, we're treated to a second performance from Xtina, who's teaming with A Great Big World on their single "Say Something." It's a remarkably emotional song. Not exactly the sort of thing that says "Tonight's going to be a blast!" But it's a nice contrast to last night's Flo Rida extravaganza.

First up: Team CeeLo's Amber Nicole

For her first live performance, Amber taking on "Wasting All These Tears" by Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope.

Knockout #1: Team Christina's Amber Nicole vs. Josh Logan

Amber Nicole: "Mama Knows Best" (Jessie J)

Amber decided to take on Jessie's sassy kiss-off track because she felt like it was right in her wheelhouse and she's not wrong. She may be super young, but her performances thus far have revealed that this girl packs quite a punch. She commands the stage during her performance. Their youth and sheer talent on the first night of the show's battle rounds brought coach Christina Aguilera to tears.

"If I was up and coming on the scene I would be scared of you guys right now," Aguilera told Houston's Amber Nicole, 17, and San Diego's Timyra-Joi, 15.

Cee Lo Green also seemed blown away. "It was unbelievable," he said, while fellow coach Blake Shelton called the girls "amazing."

In the end, Aguilera chose Nicole,...

‘The Voice’: Donna Allen & Tessanne Chin Dominate First Battle Round
‘The Voice’ coaches were back Oct. 14, and ready to duke it out on stage, as they each pinned two of their own team members against each other.

It was the first night of the battle rounds on The Voice‘s fifth season, and nothing compared to the face-off between Donna Allen and Tessanne Chin. These two powerhouse vocalists tore up the stage with their rendition of Emeli Sande‘s “Next to Me.” Donna’s voice was so powerful, the judges couldn’t stop comparing her to Tina Turner. But it was Tessanne Chin’s dynamic vocal performance that made Adam Levine choose her. He just couldn’t give up on the one he said could win The Voice.

Read on to see the other match ups and who’s made it through the battle rounds so far!

This just in…a deficit of Blind Audition screen time is not an automatic death sentence in the Battle Rounds on Season 5 of The Voice. The term “mismatch made in heaven” may have been coined specifically for the pairing of Blake Shelton and a saucy gay contestant. And everything’s better with a little Cher. (Yeah, I know, that last part’s not exactly breaking news.)

'The Voice' recap: The battle rounds begin in Season 5 as Cher shows up to mentor
Well, "Voice" fans, phase one of Season 5 is officially over with the blind auditions firmly a thing of the past. It's time to move on to the next portion of America's favorite singing competition: The Battle Rounds. You know what that means. Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green must pit one artists from their team of 20 against another, with only one left standing. (Unless another coach steals, in which case, everyone keeps on standing.) Let's get to it!

Battle #1: Team Adam's Grey vs. Nic Hawk

Adam and guest mentor Ryan Tedder coach the "eclectic and diverse" pairing on Jessie J's "Domino," a song Grey mentions she sings once a week with her wedding band. Nic continues his hammy schtick from his blind audition that, while once seemed charming, now comes off as mostly forced and over-the-top.

During the performance, both bring their A-game. There isn't much to criticize,...

A stressed-out single mom and a former contestant seeking redemption scored the two four-chair swivels of the night Tuesday as The Voice's coaches inched closer to completing their teams during the fourth night of blind auditions. The coaches' powers of persuasion - and sharp elbows - were on full display during the final showstopping performance of the night when Ashley DuBose, a single mother/programmer analyst from St. Paul, Minn., arguably outshone Rihanna while singing the Grammy winner's hit "Diamonds." Stage West Presents Liz Lochhead's Good Things
Stage West presents Liz Lochhead's wry and funny Good Things.

49-year-old Susan is going through what is generally described as a bit of a rough patch. Her husband has left her for a much younger woman, she has lost her job, her father is slipping into senility, and her teenage daughter is behaving like-well-a teenager.

Now she's volunteering in a resale shop, and maintaining a (mostly) cheerful determination not to fall into victimhood, in Liz Lochhead's comedy Good Things, beginning Thursday, October 29 at Stage West's Vickery playhouse.

Susan's co-workers, the nurturing and possibly gay Frazer, and the micro-managing Marjorie, are eager to see Susan's life sorted out in appropriately fairy-tale fashion. They've encouraged her attempts at online and speed-dating, though she herself is less than enthusiastic. It hasn't worked out very well so far; she's currently having to dodge the attentions of one particularly creepy match-up. And then into the shop comes David,...
