All Golden Buzzers on ‘AGT’ through the years, including Hakuna Matata Acrobatic
Image
The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the U.S. version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.

During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists were allowed to push the button as well for their favorites. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be an audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd.

In Season 19, a new twist allowed the judges to each press their buttons twice during the auditions,...

“America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued Tuesday, July 23 with another two-hour episode of first-round auditions. Once again, this season’s hopefuls are judged by executive producer Simon Cowell on one end of the dais and Howie Mandel on the other. Seated in the middle are Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, with Terry Crews on stage as the lively host.

In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. The power of the Golden Buzzer was enacted twice on Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent, but only one time actually counted. Allow us to explain.

Australian comedian Reuben Solo had already received three X’s from the judges, not to mention plenty of boo’s from the unimpressed audience, when he boldly stepped up to the panel and slammed his own hand down on the Golden Buzzer — an AGT first, as far as we’re able to remember. During the Tuesday, July 16 episode of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” the judges will meet Schumacher, an animal mask illusion act from Ibaraki and Saitama, Japan. The two men, Ryutaro Nakamura and Yuya Shimada, will entertain the studio audience and the panelists with their hilarious routine, in which they create different animals out of their bodies. Watch the “America’s Got Talent” exclusive clip above.

The video begins with Ryu and Yuyu standing at attention silently, but when the record skips, they jump to attention. One man rips off his clothes, revealing a white bodysuit, while the other retrieves a dog mask from behind a curtain. “What is going on?” host Terry Crews wonders aloud. As soon as the mask gets placed over the first man’s head, he sits up on his arms and legs in reverse position and turns his neck, perfectly mimicking a dog.

For the first time ever, each judge has not one, but two chances to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances. Terry had one chance of his own, totaling nine acts overall that will earn the special path to the final phase of the competition.

Why Isn’t ‘America’s Got Talent’ New This Week?
Image
America’s Got Talent is taking a week off on June 18. The reality competition show was pushed by NBC in order to air the swimming trials for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The series will return to its regular programming starting June 25. Season 19 has only aired three episodes thus far, but the talent has been record-breaking, including three Golden Buzzer acts from R&b singer Liv Warfield, standup comedian Learnmore Jonasi, and janitor by day and rock singer by night Richard Goodall. The fourth Golden Buzzer act was chosen by Simon Cowell, who broke a major rule and hit the Golden Buzzer twice after being blown away by the “breathtaking” spectacle of the drone show by showmen Sky Element. After a brief aside with a member of production, it was decided that each judge would receive two Golden Buzzers. That means that this season will have the most Golden Buzzer acts in the history of the show.

Sofia Vergara gives a Golden Buzzer to Legion on ‘AGT’ [Watch]
Image
On June 11, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the third installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. During “Auditions 3,” Sofia Vergara differed from the other judges because the Malambo dance of Legion was not new to her as a South American, but still they were “spectacular” enough to earn her top prize. Watch the full performance in the video above.

The men of Legion explained to the judges that they are an Argentinian Malambo company that rehearses their dance routines extracurricularly to their “real jobs.” With the money should they win, they told Simon Cowell they want their own studio because they’ve been preparing in the backyard of a members’ parents backyard. Malambo is a traditional folk dance where the boots of the dancers are lit on fire,...

‘America’s Got Talent’: Bao Cuong is your favorite act from ‘AGT’ Auditions 2 [Poll Results]
Image
Following the two-hour “Auditions 2” episode of “America’s Got Talent” season 19 on June 4, we asked You, “Who was your favorite act?” Among the contestants that performed for the judges were five-year-old drummer Chrisyius Whitehead, band Ashes & Arrows, balancing act Hakuna Matata Acrobatic, dancer Alex Zinger, classically trained musicians The Otama Collective, Chinese instrument player NiNi, acrobatics Cata & Jay, Japanese dance group Sabrina, baton twirler Phillip Lewis, and danger trick act Bao Cuong.

Based on your votes in our Auditions 2 poll, danger act and illusionist Bao Cuong was your favorite with over 48% popularity. Image
America’s Got Talent brings some outstanding performances, and already, Simon Cowell had to swallow his words. Since then, he’s so enthralled with excellent performances that he based the Golden Buzzer twice. Read on to find out what got him so excited.

AGT Simon Cowell Seldom Presses The Buzzer

The judge is a serious person when it comes to rewarding talent. So, he’s most likely not to hit the buzzer rashly. It’s a much wider genre than American Idol, where people only sing. So, a wide range of different acts happen on AGT. Some make fans cringe, and others get them shaking their heads if Simon scowls.

Simon Cowell – AGT

Simon Cowell gives his second Golden Buzzer to drone artists Sky Elements on ‘AGT’ [Watch]
Image
On June 4, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the second installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. During “Auditions 2,” it was revealed that the decision to give each judge two hits of the buzzer came when Simon Cowell just couldn’t help breaking the rules by hitting it a second time in one episode for the drone artist group Sky Elements. Watch the full performance in the video above.

In order to display the artistry of Sky Elements, production was moved outside the theater during the night as the group prepared 1,000 drones to light up the sky with their storytelling. ‘AGT’ Drama: Howie Mandel Reacts After Simon Cowell Breaks Rules
Image
America’s Got Talent announced earlier this year that it would be changing its Golden Buzzer rule, and now viewers have seen precisely what led to that decision. On Tuesday’s (June 4) episode, which saw the second round of auditions, Simon Cowell broke the rules by using his Golden Buzzer twice. The previous rules stated that a judge could hit the Golden Buzzer once per season to send an act directly to the Live Shows. Cowell ignored that rule on Tuesday night when he used his Golden Buzzer twice, first for the incredible singer Liv Warfield and then again later in the episode for the group Sky Elements. The Dallas-based entertainment group directed the judges outside for their performance, which involved an impressive light show with choreographed drones. Cowell was so mind-blown by the performance that he hit his Golden Buzzer for the second time that evening. This confused fellow judges Heidi Klum,...

On June 4, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the second installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. During “Auditions 2,” Simon Cowell found a new compliment to give someone. He told Liv Warfield that listening to her song “was like being, in a good way, punched in the face” before awarding her his first golden buzzer. Watch the full performance in the video above.

Prior to Liv’s performance, Simon asked her about her career and what it’s been like working in the music industry. She said that she’s been on stages with great artists like Prince and Nancy Wilson, but that the industry is “really hard because things have changed over time.” She added that despite the toughness of the business, she...
