Following its December theatrical premiere, the recent DC blockbuster “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will make its streaming debut on Max this month!

James Wan returns to the helm in the Jason Momoa-starrer, which sees Aquaman turn to his imprisoned brother and former King of Atlantis Orm (Patrick Wilson) and set aside their differences to save their family and the world as Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) now wields the power of the Black Trident, vowing to stop at nothing to avenge to his father’s death.

Having conquered his brother Orm/Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson), Arthur now rules Atlantis and finds the job boring. He is married to Mera (Amber Heard), and they have a son, Arthur Jr. Arthur’s parents, Thomas (Temeura Morrison) and Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), assist in raising Junior while Arthur manages his duties as king and Aquaman. Junior inherits Arthur’s ability to communicate with underwater creatures.

I kept describing Aquaman II as the part B of the first movie, and so, a lot of the character arc and hero's journey that we had set up in the first film gets to grow. They grow and expand in the second one, and obviously, seeing, at the end of the first movie we see Arthur defeating his brother to become the king of Atlantis."

In the first Aquaman movie, released by director James Wan in 2018, Topo the octopus was briefly shown playing the bongos. His time on-screen was brief, but fans of the sea creature were nevertheless happy to see him. With that noted, those who love Topo may be stoked to learn that the character has a much bigger presence in the sequel. A new synopsis for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has confirmed the arrival of Aquababy to the DC Extended Universe.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios released a new synopsis alongside the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited sequel to 2018's Aquaman, which revealed that Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) got married sometime between the events of the two Aquaman flicks and now rule Atlantis as its King and Queen. However, in the part of the synopsis that confirms the film's returning cast members, Aquaman is described as having to balance "his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father" while Mera is "Atlantis' Queen and mother of the heir to the throne." This seemingly confirms that their child, Arthur Curry Jr./Aquababy, will be introduced in the sequel.

Speaking with Comicbook.com, Wan explained that the Aquaman sequel will largely stand apart from the rest of the DC cinematic universe, which is sure to come as a major positive considering that this version of the DC universe will soon come to an end.
