Epic Pictures have acquired the worldwide sales rights for the upcoming Christmas horror anthology Deathcember, which features rising and celebrated directors and talent from around the world in an impressive advent calendar of terror and to accompany the announcement have also released the first teaser trailer and poster!

The anthology was created by Dominic Saxl, who produced alongside Ivo Scheloske, production manager with Anolis Entertainment, and Frank Vogt, COO of Magna Mana Production and made in part thanks to the German HessenFilm fund. Says Saxl:

We’re beyond proud of the film that Deathcember has become. With all the incredible and diverse talent involved, it holds something for every horror fan – and we‘re confident that our collaboration with Epic will give everyone the chance to see for themselves.

This indie production is also very static in setting. Almost all of the film's runtime is spent on a dilapidated farmhouse. A cannibalistic antagonist adds little menace and even less intelligence compared to five survivors who are constantly on the run. A post-apocalyptic set semi-thriller, The Day is almost a non-event. The story focuses on five characters. They are survivors of an unnamed global catastrophe. Writer Luke Passmore seems to be taking some license with Cormac McCarthy's The Road. With that aside, these characters have been surviving for 10 years with little to eat and little time for.

WWE Studios announced today they have acquired distribution rights to the indie thriller The Day. We also have five character posters from The Day, which feature the main characters Shawn Ashmore, Ashley Bell, Cory Hardrict, Dominic Monaghan, and Shannyn Sossamon. WWE Studios announced today it has acquired all Us distribution rights to the Toronto International Film Festival cult hit The Day, Douglas Aarniokoski's visceral action thriller. The film screened to sold-out crowds in the Midnight Madness section of the Festival. WWE will use its television, digital/social media and print assets, which reach more than 20 million people domestically each week, to help market the release of film.
