The Strangers: Chapter 2 director Renny Harlin calls the film “a town invasion” story
Image
Director Renny Harlin shot an entire trilogy of Strangers movies at the same time, and while there was a point when it looked like Lionsgate might be releasing all three of the movies within 2024, that idea was clearly pushed aside. The Strangers: Chapter 1 (read our review Here) reached theatres back in May of 2024, and The Strangers: Chapter 2 won’t be reaching theatres until September 26, 2025. A teaser trailer for Chapter 2 dropped online eight months ago, with the full trailer (embedded above) following a couple of weeks ago. This film was promoted with a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con this Thursday – and details from that panel, which included the screening of multiple clips, have now made their way online, thanks to Deadline. One cool quote: Harlin said that while the first movie was a “home invasion” story, this one is “a town invasion” story.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 Cast & Character Guide
Image
The Strangers: Chapter 1 will feature the return of the iconic killer trio alongside a new cast of characters. The movie's lead characters will be played by Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez. The Strangers boasts a robust ensemble cast that includes more than a dozen other performers.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 boasts a cast that includes plenty of familiar faces from the horror genre in addition to stars from hit shows and up-and-comers. The home invasion horror movie is a standalone follow-up to Bryan Bertino's indie 2008 hit The Strangers, which previously got a largely unrelated sequel, subtitled Prey at Night, in 2018. Directed by Renny Harlin, Chapter 1 is the first in an intended trilogy of movies set to take place over the course of several days.

The only recurring franchise characters set to appear in the The Strangers: Chapter 1 cast are the titular trio of masked killers. The killers, known as Man in the Mask,...

Lionsgate is planning a May 17th theatrical release for the horror film The Strangers: Chapter 1, and this past weekend they continued their viral marketing approach to promoting the movie. When the South by Southwest festivals were held in Austin, Texas last month, the Strangers were spotted around the city. When the music and arts festival Coachella was going on in Indio, California, the Strangers showed up there, too. Over the weekend, the Stagecoach Festival – which is described as “country music’s biggest party” was also held in Indio… and the Strangers crashed that party as well. The Strangers: Prey at Night followed in 2018 and was rated R for horror violence and terror throughout, and for language.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 was directed by Renny Harlin, who shot an entire trilogy of Strangers movies at the same time. We’ve heard that Lionsgate will also be releasing The Strangers: Chapter 2 and The Strangers: Chapter 3 by the end of the year.

Renny Harlin’s The Strangers trilogy set in the same universe as the previous films?
Image
Director Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master) has already wrapped production on not only a remake of the 2008 film The Strangers (watch it Here), but an entire remake trilogy. Well, the official announcement referred to this as a remake project, anyway. But that might not actually be the case. During a recent interview with CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman, cast member Ema Horvath (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) said the trilogy is set “in the same universe” as The Strangers and its follow-up The Strangers: Prey at Night. Which leaves fans to wonder if this is actually a sequel trilogy…

Director Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master) recently wrapped production on not only a remake of the 2008 film The Strangers (watch it Here), but an entire remake trilogy. When asked what she would tell The Strangers fans who are skeptical about the remake trilogy, Petsch answered, “I’d like to first tell that person that I too feel that way about the original Strangers. When I got sent the trilogy of scripts, I said, ‘This feels like a behemoth that maybe shouldn’t be touched.’ I really felt that way as well and I...
