It's been a decade and a half since The Walking Dead premiered in 2010, and almost three years since the original show concluded in 2022. However, the universe keeps thriving with several spinoffs.

The AMC hit zombie series has spawned multiple spinoffs, but now only two of them remain: The Walking Dead: Dead City, which follows Maggie and Negan's adventures in New York, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which continues the fan-favorite character's adventures in Europe. The two series have received mixed reviews, but have continued to be widely popular. Ahead of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3's premiere on Sept. 7, AMC has just confirmed at San Diego Comic Con at Hall H that Carol and Daryl's adventures will officially continue with the fourth and final season.

The new season will premiere shortly, and the cast and executive producers will do their best not to keep fans waiting.

AMC has officially announced that Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on Sunday, September 7 at 9 Pm Et/Pt on AMC and AMC+. Along with the date, fans also got a first teaser and some new photos from the upcoming season.

After waking up on the coast of France in Season 1, Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, has been trying to figure out how he got there and how to get home. That journey led him through broken cities and unexpected friendships, raising questions about what “home” really means.

Season 2, titled The Book of Carol, brought Melissa McBride’s character Carol back into the picture. She was trying to find Daryl, while he was dealing with his decision to stay in France. That caused a rift between them.

Daryl Dixon’s journey through post-apocalyptic Europe is far from over. AMC has confirmed that Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on Sunday, September 7 at 9 Pm Et/Pt on AMC and AMC+.

A brand new teaser and fresh photos from the season have also been released.

In the first season, Daryl found himself washed up on the shores of France with no memory of how he got there. While trying to make sense of his situation, he began a dangerous trek across the country. Horror continues to be the surest of sure non-ip things at the box office, so it's a bummer that Tilman Singer's "Cuckoo" couldn't catch on theatrically like its distributor Neon's "Longlegs" did back in July. The film received mostly positive reviews (it currently holds a 77% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes), and boasted an acclaimed performance from "Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer, but it just couldn't generate the must-see buzz of Osgood Perkins' skin-crawling sensation. Dan Stevens turns in a far more interestingly unhinged performance than Nicolas Cage's one-note shriek-show in "Longlegs," but Stevens, for whatever reason (and it's getting fairly baffling by this point), isn't an A-lister. He's handsome, he's charming, he's ridiculously talented — what's the problem here?

Following the box office success of Immaculate and especially Longlegs, Neon is back on the big screen with their latest horror offering Cuckoo, which has been earing rave reviews from critics and horror fans alike. It’s undoubtedly a far less mainstream horror movie than Longlegs, however, and it was only released in 1,503 theaters nationwide over the weekend.

How did Cuckoo fare in its opening weekend at the box office? It’s no Longlegs but Neon is surely smiling at the indie horror movie’s $3,012,500 opening weekend this morning. Interesting to note, Cuckoo is currently sitting in the #9 spot on the domestic box office charts, with Longlegs making another $2 million over the weekend and finding itself in the #10 spot.

Now our chance to see the film is upon us, as it has reached theatres today, August 9th. JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols gave Cuckoo an 8/10 review you can read at This Link, we have interviews with the lead actors Here, and earlier this week we shared a clip that gave Schafer’s character a terrifying biking experience. A press release noted that Dan Stevens turns in a “brilliant and terrifying” performance in the film, and he has described his role as a “delicious antagonist role.” In the new clip embedded above, we get a 90 second sample of Stevens’ performance, and it is quite creepy.

This week brings an eclectic mix of new horror movies, including Neon’s latest in theaters, the return of Terrifier 2‘s Lauren Lavera, and even an unofficial Mickey Mouse slasher movie.

Leading Barcelona-based production outfit Oberon Media has confirmed co-financiers on “The Turtles” (“Los Tortuga”), the anticipated sophomore feature by the multi-prized Spanish filmmaker Belén Funes (“A Thief’s Daughter”).

Besides sales agent Film Factory Entertainment and Spanish distributor A Contracorriente Films who came on board at an early stage, the round of co-financiers includes public broadcasters Rtve for Spain, Tvc (Televisió de Catalunya) for Catalonia and Andalusia’s Canal Sur, as well as Spanish pay TV/SVOD operator Movistar Plus+.

In post-production, the Spanish drama is supported by Spain’s national film agency Icaa and the Catalan government’s Icec, as well as the Junta de Andalucía, Diputación de Jaén and Ibermedia and Media. It is produced by Oberon Media’s Antonio Chavarrías with Olmo Figueredo Gonzàlez-Quevedo of Seville-based La Claqueta (“The Endless Trench”), in co-production with Chile’s Quijote Cine.

Neon releases Tilman Singer’s feature in theaters Aug. 9. Cuckoo stars Schafer as Gretchen, a teen who gets more than she bargained for after accepting a job from Herr König (Dan Stevens) at a resort in the German Alps. Rounding out the cast are Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, Greta Fernández and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey.

“How would you like to come work for me at the resort?” Stevens asks in the trailer. Later, Schafer wants to know, “Why did you bring us here?”

Singer (Luz) wrote and directed the movie that premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and also screened at SXSW. Thor Bradwell, Markus Halberschmidt, Ken Kao, Ben Rimmer, Josh Rosenbaum and Maria Tsigka serve as producers.
