The Von Erichs Aren't The Only Tragic Wrestlers Portrayed In The Iron Claw (Another Was Murdered)
Image
Warning: This article contains mention of murder and suicide.

The Iron Claw featured many wrestlers associated with the Von Erichs, including Bruiser Brody, who was stabbed by a fellow wrestler in 1988 at the age of 42. Brody's killer, José González, was acquitted of murder due to a botched trial and the absence of key witnesses and evidence. The wrestling industry is filled with tragic stories, including drug abuse, murder, and suicide, with wrestlers like Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit facing untimely ends.

The biographical sports movie The Iron Claw provides a remarkable portrayal of the successes and tragedies of a wrestling family, and their stories are connected to other tragedies in the wrestling industry. The Iron Claw looks at the lives and achievements of the Von Erich family, who were one of the most popular and successful families in the wrestling industry. Family patriarch Fritz Von Erich was the president...

The Iron Claw: Jeremy Allen White recalls feeling ridiculous during an extreme body-shaving session
Image
Dr. Evil once said, “There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum. It’s breathtaking. I suggest you try it.” Perhaps Jeremy Allen White could have used the Austin Powers villain as a co-star while filming A24‘s The Iron Claw, as it might have made him feel better about an extreme body hair-shaving session he participated in for the highly-anticipated sports drama. Speaking with Variety about the upcoming film, White recalled shaving every inch of his body alongside co-stars Zac Efron and Harris Dickinson. “Our bodies had to be completely shaved,” White said. “We were strangers at the time. Now I know them and love them, but at the time, it was like, ‘Hi, nice to meet you and yes, they’re shaving off all of our body hair.'”

Here’s the official synopsis for The Iron Claw:

The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers,...

Zac Efron And Jeremy Allen White Play Real-Life Wrestling Brothers In The Iron Claw Trailer
Image
For months now, we've been seeing paparazzi photos of Zac Efron looking extremely beefy with a silly haircut, and hearing reports about "The Bear" star Jeremy Allen White's "gross" diet in preparation for the new A24 film, "The Iron Claw." For outsiders looking in, "The Iron Claw" looks like a wrestling drama, and many are thrilled to see the pair of actors step into the squared circle of muscle ballet. However, the average Joe's opinion of wrestling is rooted in the heyday of Hulkamania, the Attitude Era of the late '90s, or through crossover stars who have since become actors. Here's the thing: It's really cool that Allen and Efron are going to be in a wrestling movie, but if you're anticipating something like the extremely fun "Fighting With My Family" starring Florence Pugh or the deeply moving biopic "Cassandro" starring Gael García Bernal ... you're in for a hell of a rude awakening.
