I’ve watched many Top Chef finales, but Season 22 was truly special. That’s right – after several weeks of professional chefs fighting it out for the grand prize and a respectable place in the industry, fan favorite Tristen Epps emerged as the winner. I won’t say I was surprised, given that from the start to the finish, Tristen showcased why he belonged in Top Chef in the first place.

The Venice Film Festival kicked off its 80th edition Wednesday night on a somewhat muted note, with the dual Hollywood strike casting a pall over the glitz and glamour that typically exemplify the world’s oldest cinema fest. Netflix is doubling down on unscripted series with a raft of new titles including a new cooking from the producers of MasterChef and a pair of magic projects.

The Svod service has ordered The Final Table, Death by Magic and Derren Brown: Sacrifice alongside confirmation of projects including football doc Sunderland Till I Die and Jackass-meets-Wipeout-style gameshow Flinch.

The new shows were unveiled by Brandon Riegg, VP of Unscripted Originals and Acquisitions for Netflix, at the Edinburgh International TV Festival.
