’13 Demons’ Review

“This is some Jumanji sh*t…”

That line couldn’t be more apt to describe 13 Demons. A fresh take on the evils of roleplaying games and how the lines between games and reality can become blurred (anyone remember back in the 80s when Dungeons and Dragons was said to be the work of the devil?), 13 Demons sees three nerdy guys get a hold of a long-banned board game called 13 Daemons – why banned? Well apparently 30 years ago, when the game originally debuted, there was a slew of murders of innocent people by those that were playing the game; as the line between the game and reality became blurred for all that took part.

July 4th Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include Bethany, Awakening The Zodiac, Windows, Here Alone
Happy Independence Day, everyone! While most of us in the Us are busy with BBQs and enjoying some outdoor fun, that doesn’t mean this week’s Blu-ray and DVD releases are taking any time off, as we have a handful of titles making their debuts on July 4th.

Scream Factory has given the cult psychological thriller Windows something of an HD upgrade this week with their brand new Blu-ray, and we have several indie titles arriving on both formats as well, including Accidental Exorcist, Here Alone, Bethany, and Awakening the Zodiac. Rounding out the July 4th home releases are Peelers and a 9-movie creature feature set on DVD featuring all sorts of murderous beasties.

Gravitas Ventures Acquires North American Rights to Accidental Exorcist, Watch the Official Trailer
Richard can’t live a “normal” life because, well, he’s an exorcist. Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Daniel Falicki’s Accidental Exorcist, and along with this announcement comes an official trailer for the film.

Press Release: Gravitas Ventures has secured North American rights to “Accidental Exorcist” from Director Daniel Falicki, Executive Producer Warren Croyle and Producer Sheri Beth Dusek. Croyle and Dusek also wrote the script about Richard Vanuck (Falicki, “Devils in the Darkness”), a thirty-something, dirt poor alcoholic who can’t hold down a day job or maintain a normal life due to a very special “gift” he was born into.

The Fifth Annual Buried Alive Film Festival invaded Atlanta’s historic Plaza Theater November 12-13th, showcasing the best in international short and feature length independent horror films. Hosted by author and horror evangelist Phil Nutman, the festival boasted the southeastern premiere of Frank Hennenlotter’s “Herschell Gordon Lewis, The Godfather of Gore” documentary, as well as screenings of Terry Gilliam’s short, “The Legend of Hallowdega,” and Greg Nicotero’s “United Monster Talent Agency.” Other highlights included appearances from filmmakers Ashley Thorpe and Andre Paim, who traveled to the festival from England and Brazil respectively, as well as the crew from Collective Studio in Michigan.
