2025 may be nearly half way through, but in the world of TV the year is still young. As such, even though you may feel like the best TV you'll see this year is already behind us as we've headed down to the severed floor for Severance Season 2, stared at our reflection once again in Charlie Brooker's Netflix series Black Mirror, brought out the billy clubs for Disney+ must-see show Daredevil: Born Again, and had our collective socks knocked off by Philip Barantini's Adolescence, we assure you a veritable streaming smorgasbord still lies ahead of us in the coming months.
Yes, we may have just finished collecting our jaw from the flaw after that Andor Season 2 finale, and yes, the second seasons of both The Last Of Us and Doctor Who may have left our heads spinning, but there's still no shortage of returning favourites, fresh franchise offerings, original programming,...

According to an insider, a movie adaptation of hit BBC sitcom Ghosts could be going before the cameras this year.
One of the BBC’s most successful children’s shows of recent years is Horrible Histories, which presented sketches about historical events in a superbly silly fashion. The writers and performers soon took the show to the big screen in the wonderful Bill, which tells the fictionalised story of Shakespeare – it’s one of the most delightful family films of the last decade and a bit, and is available to watch via Amazon Prime.
The crew then went on to create Yonderland, a surreal sitcom about a magical kingdom hidden in a woman’s kitchen cupboard.
However, Ghosts is the show that has arguably made the most impact. Starring Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe as a couple who inherit a huge mansion, Ritchie soon discovers that she, and only she,...

Lee Mack and Chris McCausland star in festive comedy Bad Tidings. Here’s the trailer for the upcoming Sky TV production.
Comedians Chris McCausland and Lee Mack are building up quite a portfolio of work together. They previously collaborated on an episode of the latter’s hit sitcom Not Going Out last year, in which McCausland played a passenger travelling in the same carriage as Lee’s family. They also presented at the BAFTAs together, and McCausland appears alongside Mack on game show Would I Lie To You.
They are now starring together in festive film Bad Tidings for Sky. The synopsis reads as follows:
This year’s Sky Original Christmas special revolves around grumpy home-security expert Neil (Mack) and his neighbour Scott (McCausland), who insists on keeping his Christmas lights illuminated all-year-round. And mixing up their bins, criticising Neil’s ‘project’ car and generally winding him up. Basically, Scott’s a git.

Spoiler Alert for Ghosts season 4, episode 4, "The Work Retreat"CBS Ghosts is setting up its main characters, Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), to be more successful than the ones who inspired their show a major and promising departure from the source material. Ghosts UK, a British series for the BBC with the same name and premise, inspires the American series. Ghosts UK focuses on Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe) and Allison (Charlotte Ritchie), who move to Button House after Allison inherits the estate from a distant relative. Like Sam and Jay, the Ghosts U.S. characters based on their UK counterparts make the mansion their home and turn it into a bed and breakfast.
There are significant differences between the couples and their respective series, and one of the variations could set the CBS series up to be more successful than its predecessor. Ghosts UK ended after five seasons, while...

Spoiler Alert for Ghosts season 4
Ghosts season 4 added another character inspired by Ghosts (UK), but they completely changed her personality. Plenty of ghosts in the U.S. series draw inspiration from their UK counterparts. However, some connections are more apparent than others. For instance, Pete (Richie Moriarty) from CBS Ghosts is strikingly similar to Pat (Jim Howick) from Ghosts for the BBC. Both spirits died after a member of their scout troop shot them in the neck with an arrow, and they both have wives named Carol, who cheated on them with their best friend. Still, not all ghost counterparts have as much in common.
Some characters from the U.S. Ghosts series only resemble the qualities of their UK counterparts. The oldest ghosts in both Ghosts U.S. and Ghosts UK, Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and Robin (Laurence Rickard), can control electricity since they died of a lightning strike.

You may have missed it, but most characters in CBS popular Ghosts series are similar to those in Ghosts UK, the original British program. Ghosts UK and Ghosts US are both critically acclaimed in their own nations, and the shows similarities arent by accident. The series share the same creators, who originated and starred in the British Ghosts series. British actors Matthew Baynton (as Thomas), Simon Farnaby (as Julian), Martha Howe-Douglas (as Fanny), Jim Howick (as Pat), Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond (as the Captain) are executive producers for both respective series.

Holland has joined for the recurring role of Patience and Norris will play Frank, Samantha’s (Rose McIver) father.
Patience is the ghost of a Puritan woman who died in the late 1600s. While alive, she was exceedingly severe and judgmental, even by Puritan standards. As such, she was expelled from her village for “being a bit too much.”

Chris McCausland and Lee Mack will star as feuding neighbours in Sky Max Christmas comedy Bad Tidings.
Comedians Chris McCausland and Lee Mack are building up quite a portfolio of work together – they previously collaborated on an episode of the latter’s hit sitcom Not Going Out last year, in which McCausland played a passenger travelling in the same carriage as Lee’s family, and they also presented at the BAFTAs together, as well as McCausland making appearances on Mack’s game show Would I Lie To You.
They are now starring together in festive film Bad Tidings for Sky Max.
Basically,...

CBS is looking to scare up more laughs after handing an early Season 4 renewal to supernatural comedy Ghosts.
It is the latest renewal order for the Paramount-owned network, which also handed a third season to Fire Country and gave Justin Hartley series Tracker a second season earlier this month.
Ghosts, which is based on the BBC’s British comedy, has been a success for CBS since launching in 2021. Its third season is averaging over 10M viewers in live 7-day multiplatform viewing, which is marginally up from last year and streaming numbers are up on Paramount+, where the company said it ranked as its number one comedy in February.

The move gives some continuity to CBS’ comedy slate for next season as two of its longer running series, Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola are coming to an end.

Or the one where, in under half an hour, a bunch of comedy characters in silly costumes deliver the most emotionally insightful and instructive reflection on grief perhaps ever shown on TV? We nominated some corkers here, but they barely scratch the surface of this delightful, warm comedy.
Let’s leave it to the experts then. As told to Nathan Bryon on the BBC Sounds podcast Inside… Ghosts, here’s what the show’s creators and stars rate as their personal faves, now that the show is over. After being forced to push the Season 3 premiere date for its hit comedy Ghosts to February 15, 2024 amidst this summer’s dual strikes, CBS is readying for its return to production, star Danielle Pinnock has revealed.
“We start shooting on Saturday. I fly down to Montreal. We’re going back, baby!” exclaimed Pinnock tonight, in conversation with Deadline at the red carpet premiere for her new Amazon MGM holiday film, Candy Cane Lane. “We did a table read — those scripts are good!”
Pinnock expects the show to shoot “only 10 episodes this season,” rather than the 18+ that have been put out in its first two go-rounds, because of both strike-forced delays and the fact that her co-star Sheila Carrasco is expecting her first child. Still, she teased, “those episodes are fierce and the audiences should prepare themselves.”
