Laurence Rickard (Ghosts) then joins the fun, playing a conspiracy-theorist mechanic who tries to warn the unlikely trio against taking on the criminal family who control the town.

According to an insider, a movie adaptation of hit BBC sitcom Ghosts could be going before the cameras this year.

One of the BBC’s most successful children’s shows of recent years is Horrible Histories, which presented sketches about historical events in a superbly silly fashion. The writers and performers soon took the show to the big screen in the wonderful Bill, which tells the fictionalised story of Shakespeare – it’s one of the most delightful family films of the last decade and a bit, and is available to watch via Amazon Prime.

“Ghosts” Season 4 has cast Nat Faxon in a guest star role, Variety has learned.

Faxon will appear in an upcoming episode of the hit CBS comedy as founding father Alexander Hamilton, who fans of the show know is the rival of Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones). The episode will air in early 2025.

Faxon is an Academy Award winner, sharing the award for best adapted screenplay with Alexander Payne and Jim Rash for the 2012 film “The Descendants.” He currently stars in the Apple TV+ comedy series “Loot” opposite Maya Rudolph, which is going into its third season. Faxon’s other TV credits include “The Conners,” “Our Flag Means Death,” “Gaslit,” and “Friends From College.” He is also known for films like “The Way Way Back,” which he co-wrote and co-directed with Rash.

He is repped by CAA, Artists First, and Goodman Genow.

“Ghosts” continues to be one of the most popular comedies in the CBS lineup.

“Loot” star Nat Faxon is set to guest star on CBS’ “Ghosts” in an episode slated to air in early 2025.

Lee Mack and Chris McCausland star in festive comedy Bad Tidings. Here’s the trailer for the upcoming Sky TV production.

Comedians Chris McCausland and Lee Mack are building up quite a portfolio of work together. They previously collaborated on an episode of the latter’s hit sitcom Not Going Out last year, in which McCausland played a passenger travelling in the same carriage as Lee’s family. They also presented at the BAFTAs together, and McCausland appears alongside Mack on game show Would I Lie To You.

They are now starring together in festive film Bad Tidings for Sky. The synopsis reads as follows:

This year’s Sky Original Christmas special revolves around grumpy home-security expert Neil (Mack) and his neighbour Scott (McCausland), who insists on keeping his Christmas lights illuminated all-year-round. And mixing up their bins, criticising Neil’s ‘project’ car and generally winding him up. Basically, Scott’s a git.

Ghosts season 4 added another character inspired by Ghosts (UK), but they completely changed her personality. Plenty of ghosts in the U.S. series draw inspiration from their UK counterparts. However, some connections are more apparent than others. For instance, Pete (Richie Moriarty) from CBS Ghosts is strikingly similar to Pat (Jim Howick) from Ghosts for the BBC. Both spirits died after a member of their scout troop shot them in the neck with an arrow, and they both have wives named Carol, who cheated on them with their best friend. Still, not all ghost counterparts have as much in common.

Some characters from the U.S. Ghosts series only resemble the qualities of their UK counterparts. The oldest ghosts in both Ghosts U.S. and Ghosts UK, Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and Robin (Laurence Rickard), can control electricity since they died of a lightning strike.

“Ghosts” star Rose McIver will direct her first episode of the series this season, the show’s panel told the audience at New York Comic Con Saturday. In addition to McIver, the panel featured Brandon Scott Jones, Sheila Carrasco and Román Zaragoza with “CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil in the moderator chair.

The tagline for the two-part one-hour Christmas special (“A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 1” and “A Very Arondekar Christmas Part 2”) reads, “A leaky water heater mishap threatens to ruin holiday plans as Sam and Jay prepare to host Jay’s hard-to-please dad Mahesh (Bernard White), difficult-to-impress mom Champa (Sakina Jaffrey) and sister Bela (Punam Patel).”

“Ghosts” star Rose McIver will sit behind the camera to direct an episode of the hit CBS comedy, it was revealed Saturday during the show’s panel at New York Comic-Con. The episode, which starts filming soon and will air in 2025, reps the first time McIver will helm a TV series.

On “Ghosts,” McIver plays Sam, who inherits an old, haunted mansion that she and husband Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) turn into a bed and breakfast — much to the chagrin of the ghosts that Sam can communicate with. This year, on the show’s one-hour Christmas special, viewers will get to meet Jay’s parents for the first time.

Ghosts UK and Ghosts US are both critically acclaimed in their own nations, and the shows similarities arent by accident. Big Talk is collaborating on the project with Blue Zoo Animation Studio, a British animation company known for children’s shows including The Adventures of Paddington.

The original series was a British sitcom that aired on BBC One for five seasons from April 2019 to December 2023. BBC Studios has confirmed production of a German-language version of the sitcom, which has been a hit for the BBC in the UK and CBS in the States.

German pubcaster Wdr and streamer Ard Mediathek have commissioned a six-part series, with Erik Haffner directing and BBC Studios Germany producing its first in-house production. Yves Hensel and Aylin Kockler are writing, with Claudius Pläging providing punch-up and Tom Holzhauser and Anne Lindemann overseeing cinematography. Chris McCausland & Lee Mack Set For Sky Festive Special

British comedians Chris McCausland and Lee Mack will front Sky festive special Bad Tidings, about two perpetually feuding neighbors in Northern England who become unlikely heroes after saving their street from notorious burglars with wacky booby traps and British banter. Laurence Rickard & Martha Howe-Douglas are writing, with production commencing this month at Sky Studios Elstree. Also cast are Rebekah Staton, Sarah Alexander, Ben Crompton, Emily Coates, Josiah Eloi, Millie Kiss, Tupele Dorgu, Sunil Patel, Susan Kyd and Donna Preston. CBS has renewed the comedy “Ghosts” for Season 4 and the drama “Fire Country” for Season 3.

Both shows launched their new seasons in mid-February due to the impact last year’s dual writers’ and actors’ strike had on broadcast production schedules.

“’Ghosts’ and ‘Fire Country’ are proven viewer favorites on both broadcast and streaming thanks to exceptional storytelling, talented actors and an ever-growing fan base,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “We are elated to keep the momentum going and bring them back to CBS next season.”

Per CBS, “Ghosts” is currently averaging 10.2 million viewers per episode in Live+7 multiplatform viewing, while “Fire Country” is averaging 9.2 million.

CBS is looking to scare up more laughs after handing an early Season 4 renewal to supernatural comedy Ghosts.

It is the latest renewal order for the Paramount-owned network, which also handed a third season to Fire Country and gave Justin Hartley series Tracker a second season earlier this month.

Ghosts, which is based on the BBC’s British comedy, has been a success for CBS since launching in 2021. Its third season is averaging over 10M viewers in live 7-day multiplatform viewing, which is marginally up from last year and streaming numbers are up on Paramount+, where the company said it ranked as its number one comedy in February.

The move gives some continuity to CBS’ comedy slate for next season as two of its longer running series, Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola are coming to an end.

“We start shooting on Saturday. I fly down to Montreal. We’re going back, baby!” exclaimed Pinnock tonight, in conversation with Deadline at the red carpet premiere for her new Amazon MGM holiday film, Candy Cane Lane. “We did a table read — those scripts are good!”

Pinnock expects the show to shoot “only 10 episodes this season,” rather than the 18+ that have been put out in its first two go-rounds, because of both strike-forced delays and the fact that her co-star Sheila Carrasco is expecting her first child.
