After two decades as a freelance line- and feature film producer, Lucia hung up her producer shoes to step into a commissioning editing position at the world's biggest subscriber-based, linear broadcaster, M-Net.
Her freelance career includes works like the 2022 SAFTA Best Feature Film winner i am All Girls (Netflix, 2021), as well as the 2018 Cannes Official Selection Un Certain Regard feature film The Harvesters (2018). She was also the production supervisor on the Megan Fox film ROGUE and her short film Vlees Van My Vlees (Best Short Film Winner 2016 Silwerskermfees) was selected in competition and/or screened at over 25 international film festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand 2018.
As commissioning editor, her passion and talent can now extend to narrative-driven tv dramas, comedies, as well as documentaries, like Showmax's record-breaking documentary series Steinheist, kykNET's new telenovela Diepe Waters, and the Afrikaans crime drama Donkerbos.
In 2022 she was selected to partake in the 2ND Realness Producers Indaba and she is a member of the non-profit organization SWIFT (Sister Working on Film and Television). Lucia also campaigned to make local production insurance terms fairer for producers in relation to the limits around women-related claims.
She is married to multi-award-winning cinematographer Tom Marais and resides in Johannesburg.
